Pros: I travelled with my elderly mother and William offered us a room on the ground floor for convenience when we arrived which I thought was very thoughtful. We had a fantastic stay and could make the most out of it as William gave us some great tips of what to do in the area. Staying at le Chatenet was more like staying at a friends house than staying at a hotel which was great and unexpected for us. I'd love to come back with my family and children as the kids would have loved the pool and huge gardens and tennis courts. So hope to see it again soon!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Le Chatenet was amazing! The place is absolutely stunning - so beautiful and picturesque. The location is great - very close to the Brantome town center. It offers peace and quiet. The host, William, is very friendly and goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome and well looked-after. The room we had was lovely - so beautifully decorated! It was very comfortable and cosy - and remained very cool during the heat wave! Make sure you try the breakfast - it's excellent!

Every aspect was superb and we felt that we had made two new lovely friends.I cannot recommend it more highly and will definitely be back. Flying into Limoges and driving down 1.5 hours was so easy.

A delightful night’s sleep in a comfy bed enveloped in an unpretentious bedroom followed by a healthy and sumptuous breakfast worked wonders for the soul. A five minute walk into town through a wooded path reminded us we were in the heart of the French countryside. A beautiful house full of history managed by helpful and delightful hosts means a definite return for us in the future. Thank you!

Pros: Very friendly welcome and attention. Excellent french breakfast. Very homely B&B. Quiet location out of town. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Somehow expected more based on review scores and price. However, not sure what was missing! (Maybe toiletries and bigger towels.) Slightly difficult to find as the address did not appear in our satnav. Mind your head in the rooms!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, great breakfast and beautiful decor (crystals & cartonnage). Martine shared her knowledge of the Dordogne which added to the interest of our tour.
Cons: Rue Marcel Pagnol is a little hard to find if you approach from the west, better to approach from the east.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet location, secure parking. There are no restaurants nearby so don't arrive tired and not want to drive! The B&B is easy to find, not far from the autoroute. The room is quite comfortable, the best sleep I have had in a while! The owner is over-the-top friendly and helpful. She even invited me to dinner, mostly out of pity I think because I was on a motorcycle! I had been driving all day, and the day was so hot. My sorrow was that I don't speak French. We managed with translating programs, and she was very patient and tolerant.
Cons: Perfect place, perfect location

7.1 Good
Pros: Ample car-parking space, closed off. Bedroom simple and clean. Wide double bed. Fridge. Swimming pool welcome on what was very hot day.
Cons: Pity restaurant was closed (being Friday) as menu looked quite good and reasonably priced. But numerous restaurants within walking distance. Dreadfully busy and noisy traffic in narrow main-road right through the town. Why hasn't the town built a bypass? (Important to have room with window giving onto internal courtyard). Breakfast service laborious. Why not self-service set-up?

Pros: Excellent food great location
Cons: N/a
7.9 Good

Pros: The food was outstanding. Dinner was the best meal we have had for a very long time. The gourmet menu was well worth the cost. Fresh local food cooked to a very high standard.Breakfast was limited in choice but again the food was to a high standard. Also enjoyed the small swimming pool.
Cons: Decor was a little dated but added to the overall ambiance of a family run hotel in rural France. Not a problem for us but there was no air conditioning or lift to rooms which are all on the first floor. Also a bit of a trek from car park although you can decant cases at reception and then move car.

Cons: SAFETY VERY QUESTIONABLE. ROOM ITS SELF WAS 99% UNACESSABLE. IT WAS IN THE ATTIC IN THE ROOF WE 3 FLIGHTS OF 100 YEAR OLD CURVED STAIRS TO CLIMB. THE A/C DID NOT WORK. WE OPENED THE TWO TINY WINDOWS TO GET SOME AIR. AS WE WERE IN THE ROOF THE PIGEONS THAT LIVED THERE WERE VERY UNHAPPY TO BE DISTURBED AND KEPT COOING ALL NIGHT. I AM 64 YEARS OLD AND I WAS UNABLE TO CLIMB THEM AND I WAS SUPPOSE TO CARRY MY 4 CASES AS WELL. TO WHICH I DROPPED ONE. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay here and everywhere had a calm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, particularly as I was on crutches after recent surgery. We were even upgraded to a more easily accessible room due to my lack of mobility. Our room was lovely and had one of the comfiest beds I have slept in when away on holiday. We are at the restaurant which was lovely and in a beautiful setting. Some reviews previously commented on the lack of staff around, however we did not experience this. Instead we felt staff were on had but not intrusive as you would expect in a better quality restaurant. Breakfast was also delicious with many options on offer including freshly baked pastries, cake, eggs, potatoes and bacon and much more. The location of the hotel is perfect and is only a few minute walk to the main shops and restaurants.
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The pictures of the family rooms are misleading. We were given one room with a double bed and a sofa bed. We had a room in the building across the road from the main hotel, a road that was busy with people, trucks and cars all night. There was no insulation.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for everything in Brantome and surrounding countryside. Our room 7 had its own terrace with sun beds — overlooking the river, the Abbey and town of Brantome. Excellent choices for breakfast sitting on the terrace by the water. Great double shower in bathroom.
Cons: The bed was rather hard.

Pros: Location and views unreal.
Cons: Breakfast was terrible very expensive, food not of good standard especially considering the price and the fact there’s a Michelin stared restaurant on site.

Pros: The hotel and the ambience were just as we remembered from our last visit nearly thirty years ago. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: No tissues in our room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed superb. Large with nice French linen. Good views over the river and weir.
Cons: Lighting poor in our room. One lamp didn't work at all.

5.8 Okay
Pros: great location on the river, nice terrace, very cute town.
Cons: breakfast was truly awful and staggeringly bad value. They charged 6.5 euro for a very poor coffee as cancelled the 16 euro breakfast after seeing the pretty terrible spread on display - most of the items were empty (40 mins before last orders). No pastries and no more on their way after asking, with not much else on offer other than some stale cornflakes and a bit of ham. Could have done with a mini bar/fridge in the room. Room looks a lot better in the photo's, it's pretty frumpy/tired and could do with bringing up to date.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Brantome is a beautiful small town. The hotel overlooks the river and we happened to have a room with balcony overlooking the river. Parking was straightforward in the public car park opposite the hotel and help with luggage was provided by the friendly staff. We have stayed here before and hope to do so again.

Pros: Perfect location minutes from the centre of the town and overlooking the cathedral and the river. Staff were all exceptional. Welcoming and helpful and all with a happy smile. We were there for the the Vintage Days Weekend which was excellent and the hotel staff were in vintage costumes too. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Highly recommended.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Pros: The castle looks beautiful from the outside, it has a swimming pool and nice grounds.
Cons: The castle and its grounds are beautiful, but it wasn't very hospitable in my experience. We were shown our room, and 3 small lounge rooms that guests could access. But there is no facility that would allow you to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, in the bedroom or the lounge rooms. Everything comes at an additional cost, which, given that the place is relatively isolated, made me feel a little trapped. The restaurant may be good - i haven't tried - but again, not cheap, especially since it only offers set menus. It felt stiff and old fashioned. The room we had was mid-range price wise, but poorly furnished and decorated. Cheap furniture that didn't match, old carpet, the paint peeling in some places, pictures on the walls that were little more than framed calendar cut-outs.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location and surrounding landscape was phenomenal.
Cons: The ‘Annexe’ building wasn’t fit for purpose. We just needed a good night sleep on our way south but the room failed at all the basic comforts you’d expect from any accommodation. It was extremely cold (the heating wasn’t on), damp and had an old, damp smell so not very comfortable at all. There was load banging noises throughout the night - we think it was the plumbing. As a result we didn’t sleep at all which is the basic requirement of any overnight stay. At one point we considered sleeping in the car! We were refunded 50% of the booking but that didn’t nearly make up for it. It was an exhausting start to our road trip which we wouldn’t repeat. The bathroom needed renovating. Just a bath with a hose. But clean. The bed was tiny, not big enough for two. Uncomfortable experience we wouldn’t repeat. This is for the Annexe Room. I can’t speak for the main chateau but be careful when booking this room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stay at Chateau de la Côte has been absolutely amazing! I'd booked a "classic" room and upon arrival heard that we were upgraded to a "superieure". Literally, the bedroom alone was larger than my entire apartment at home. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the diner food was excellent and the entire complex is situated in a beautiful region. I can recommend this Chateau to everyone who like to spoil themselves from time to time!
Cons: The only minor thing is that the bathroom (which already had the size of a normal hotel room) did not have a shower but only a bath (which then again was very comfortable).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are an Australian couple. We arrived in the heatwave & were met by the manager saying he had moved us to a cooler room than the one we booked. It was a delightfully big suite in the corner turret which we gloried in. Thank you so much as we really needed this break after a death in the family. The swimming pool and shaded surrounds held us for the day in comfort, even at 40c! On the first night we had a tasteful dinner served to us outside. We could have eaten inside (cooler) but even on a very warm night the view and atmosphere wasn’t to be wasted. Views from the breakfast room were another delight. My partner is lactose & gluten free so took his own porridge & milk. They kindly didn’t charge for his coffee. My breakfast was the full on French bread, cheese, egg & pastry experience. A delightful 48 hrs to cherish. With our thanks. Some English was spoken & our attempts at French tolerated, encouraged & gently educated with good humour & patience!
Cons: Really? There was nothing not to like! Maybe a table fan in each room to point across the bed. But really how often is it this hot??
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The chateau and the grounds are beautiful. Location in the countryside. Very quiet and peaceful.
Cons: We slept in the "annex" (a small cottage next to the entrance gate). The standard of the room was really basic and below our expectations.

Pros: Location was lovely, bed very comfortable and food good

Pros: Friendly staff, clean, large family room, big television... Nothing wrong to say 10/10. Didn't try breakfast but look appetising and fresh.
Cons: The location is a bit 'rough' in the evening but the hotel is located next to the train station so... People hanging around, trying to sell different things... But its nothing to do with the hotel...

7.9 Good
Pros: A pleasant experience in a slightly old fashioned French hotel. We parked across the street in a small parking area which was free and seemed safe. Rooms are mostly grouped around the pool or patio areas and have some outside space. Good, traditional dinner in the hotel though no choice of menu, but good value food.
7.1 Good
Pros: Hosts are exceptional. Going above and beyond to help us during our trip, including the use of the iron. City centre steady walk away easily accessible. Car parking safe and secure
Cons: The swimming pool was not in use but this may be due to staying in low season and weather. Rooms are comfortable but a little tired and dated.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, very clean, friendly staff
Cons: We were too keen on the area but each to there own!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a very quiet room, all new , with air-conditioning. Excellent!
Cons: First impression at the front of Hotel, and difficult access to car park, although it was a good secure parking area.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: For a two star the room was really modern fresh and super clean, the outside appearance is deceptive and a little forlorn but the staff were super friendly
Cons: 26 degrees and the pool was shut and we went into Town in the evening and on our return found ourselves locked out and it took an age to raise someone to let us in and they charge 5 euros for parking what a rip
7.1 Good
Pros: Clean modern room with comfortable bed and linen. Good continental breakfast. On site parking.
Cons: Pool area could do with modernising to the same standard as the rooms.

Pros: The staff were polite and the breakfast was average
Cons: If you like a sales reps hotel on the edge of an industrial estate far from the centre this is for you. A very poorly located hotel trying to break into the tourist market- you need a car to get there. The taxi fare from the station is 22 euros. As always look very carefully at the map

Pros: location was perfect. very clean. parking great.
Cons: The room was very warm throughout the night, the heater was not on at all, weather outside was raining and cool. it would of been nice to be able to control it ourselves.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Because I had booked with Booking.com I was charged 59€ for the room although the price of rooms was displayed outside the hotel as45€!! The receptionist stressed that as I had booked with Booking.com she MUST charge 59€ and agreed in future I should book directly with the hotel to get the best price!
7.9 Good
Pros: Very helpful lady on reception.
6.7 Good
Pros: The mattress and pillows were very comfortable. Linen very clean. Location of room to the back of the hotel was very quiet. Wifi was fine but unsecured.
Cons: Reception could be friendlier. Shower grout could be cleaner or replaced. Bathroom lighting isn't bright enough.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: When we arrived we were greeted with a notice saying no food could be consumed in the room. The penalty was some number of nights accomodation as an additional fee. It would be nice to have been made aware of this via booking.com, as we were travelling with our own food, and perhaps might have stopped along the way to eat rather than having to go sit in a parking lot to eat.
