10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great relaxing and luxurious place to stay. Nice breakfast made to order. Excellent rooms. Fantastic swimming pools. Great friendly staff.
Cons: It is quite isolated, so you need to take a Tuk Tuk to explore further, but hotel are happy to arrange this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful riverside spot. Excellent staff. Lovely room. Good location for wat phou and exploring the river and bolaven plateau.
Cons: Initially, having been in Laos for a while, the food and drink prices seem very high. The you remember the gorgeous setting, the impeccable presentation and service and get over it. Then you see the prices in USD and remember what exceptional value for money it still is, even if more costly than other places around. You get bottled water in the room. When I asked I was given a jug from the restaurant, but as an eco friendly place I would like to see the jug of water as the default, with bottles on request to cut down on plastic use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: “Friendly staff, great location, the restaurant was lovely for breakfast and even better in the evening. I would definitely stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is hard to make it short... we stayed for seven nights and were sad to leave! * the location has a fantastic, peaceful, calming view over the wide Mekong (River Front Bungalows are worth, although due to high booking we only got a garden view bungalow which was very lovely, too!) set in an idyllic garden with little rice fields old big trees, ponds... well taken care for by very friendly gardeners * the staff is very, very friendly and helpful and most of them speak good English * Great pools (two!), with fantastic view on the big Mekong * the whole ambience is so pacifying/ calming, perfect to switch off for a view days * Hotel is very helpful to organize day trips from here (e.g. to 4000 Islands or Bolaven Plateau), with logistically convenient arrangement and at an acceptable price, or to Vat Phou of course * or you just cycle through Chamapasak village with ere free bikes * and they offer good Massage (preferably Aroma Therapy :-) ) * we experienced very good service at Front Desk * and Service at restaurant was great, too, every day * Food at dinner was good (and the Price is ok, too) * and we had a wide breakfast choice Thank you so much, dear River Resort Team, for making the stay so pleasant!

Pros: Beautiful spot, great pools
Cons: Food was so so but mainly the area for the boat was full of trash! Disgusting
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is just lovely, well situated on the banks of the Mekong with friendly staff, good food ànd two pools. There are trips to do around the area which are well worthwhile. We would not hesitate to stay again.
Cons: Cannot think of anything we did not like

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Phaythavone Hotel in Pakse, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Wat Phabat and Champasak Historical Heritage Museum. Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: not have b/fast. only one night
7.9 Good
Pros: It's in a nice quite area
Cons: Have no complaints
7.1 Good
Pros: The place is on a side street so it’s relatively quiet (unless the neighbors are having a party on the weekends). The cleaning staff does a good job keeping the simple rooms clean. Our air conditioner worked well and we had a mini fridge in our room. The price was quite affordable!
Cons: Within the first week of staying here, the electricity went out twice - once for an hour and once for several hours. In the extreme heat, this made it miserable to be in our rooms. The door to our balcony was warped, which let in smoke from the extensive burning that goes on around Pakse at this time of year. We also found quite a few mosquitoes when we first moved in.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: The staff were about as welcoming as an Iron Maiden. Location left you an unpleasant walk along a busy major road to the "city centre", such as it is.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The staff tried to steal my 100,000 kip for one, only discovered luckily by my friend who realised while i was busy frantickly ransacking my bag looking for it. Had she not been there i would have had 100,000 less and back on the street at 10pm looking for an ATM. I hadn't even processed what had happened in the moment and they then told me i need to pay more ? I showed them my booking and pictures of the price and what it is in kip, they showed me back on a calculator a much higher price. I physically did not have the amount they were asking for and was getting pretty frustrated because i knew what they were doing. My friend had gone by that point and it was 3 vs 1 so i then got taken to a room i most certainly did not pay for.. it certainly didnt have a bath as promised, was freezing, super loud, shower spitting out tiny bit of warm water, and ants running amock in the bed all night so ofcourse i woke up with many bites after my refreshing hellish 2.5hours or so 'sleep'. I have videos of the shower and ants in bed. No breakfast offered either. All for 10USD
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Place is comfortable, good wifi and hot water. Location is good if you have motorcycle.
6.0 Good
Pros: Private room with private bathroom. Free small water, toilet paper, towel & soap. It was quiet apart from the Kareoke on Friday evening.
Cons: This hotel is at least 1 km from the centre of town. There were few shops & restaurants nearby. Not very good value compared with other hotels in Laos. The bed was hard. Kareoke on Friday night. No breakfast at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: receptionlisy can speak french
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: We booked this 'hotel' as it was a cheap place to stay and was apparently 0.2 miles from the centre. We were only in Pakse as a stopover before going down to 4000 islands so we wanted to be central. The stated location of this hotel is completely inaccurate and it took 25 minutes to find the nearest restaurant. The staff didn't speak a word of English (yes fair enough we are in their country, but it made checking in way harder than it should have been!). We were shown to our room and it was extremely small and VERY hot and stuffy. The bed was rock solid to the point where I would have preferred to sleep on the floor. I didn't sleep well at all. I woke up to my belongings being absolutely covered in ants (no food in the bags!). I decided to leave a day early and the staff didn't even hesitate to give me a refund - I got the impression that they deal with people checking out early quite often! The place is cheap so I wasn't expecting anything special but it was dirty and I didn't feel comfortable staying there.

Pros: Perfect from A to Z! First the location and the exceptional view from the bungalows. Second the remarkable quality of the staff, gentle and helpful. Third the room facilities and the quality of the food.
Cons: Nothing, it was a dream!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place and very quiet. Unusual and remote location with a lovely resort vibe. Food was good but pricey and most staff members were great with a few less friendly.
Cons: Cabin-style rooms without much sound insulation and could hear the guests next to our shared cabin. Need to fix this as it does make it less than ideal for privacy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, relaxed and nice staff. Miss Bee is very helpfully with all you things. Nice excursie to the Somphamit waterfalls.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect! Personel and Staff are very helpfull. Lunch and Diner are perfect, fresh ingtedients from their own garden. You have any demand, they solve it for you. They aranged a scooter for us in Champasak. The boatsman brought us to this shop and helped us. Cycling around the Island is lovely. Very quiet!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, food and the wonderful team x
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional resort, located on island in Mekong river, with nice pool (could not resist 6am wake-up swim), friendly and helpful staff, good food. Nice cottages with good view towards river. Great sunset looking at Champasak village and karst hillsides. Free bikes to tour the island (sandy paths). Delicious breakfast buffet.
Cons: More ice in BEERLAO, please.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved Bao Lao which was our stilted room with great views over the Mekong. It was very peaceful and well maintained, constantly sweeping the place. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, enjoyed using the bikes to see some of the island (quite hard going in places because of sandy roads!). An inspiring place because of what the hotel owner has done for the local community - employing villagers, donations from guests contribute toward the local schools. It has a lovely vibe. Pleased we had 4 days to stay and enjoy the atmosphere and have a couple of trips out and get across to eat in Champasak.
Cons: The food was a little disappointing, probably due to trying to cater for western tastes. However the omelettes were excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful. The children loved the pool, as did the adults. And the view over the Mekong towards the mountains as the sunset was spectacular. The dinner and breakfast were both good and the cocktails were excellent. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient.
