Pick up was inconvenient; staff was all over the place and couldn’t locate my original reservation. Tried to charge me almost twice the original agreed upon price. Also should have mentioned a $200 security deposit being added to the total balance from the beginning. Biggest annoying factor was that I had to make sure I wouldn’t be charged for prior damage done to the vehicle I picked up. Driver side mirror completely gone. Definitely sketch when going to drop off my car and they ask if I did the damage myself. Seems like there should be better communication on the company’s part when giving out damaged rides. In my opinion not worth the price or the hassle.

My Budget Camry rental was upgraded to a new Chrysler Pacifica, and the van was a comfortable hybrid with a smooth ride, easy-to-use controls, and excellent mileage. Both pick-up and drop-off at the Bangor airport were quick and easy. I was pleased with both the rental vehicle and the rental experience.

Accessing a small regional airport compared to a large international one greatly improves the travel experience. Upon entering the return lot at Bangor the signs clarifying where to go to reach a specific vendor are in need of improvement.

Pros:

We loved the Nissan SUV that we were given. Might even buy one ourselves :). The pickup was a couple of hours too early, but that was an easy adjustment for the salesperson. Loved the good deal from KAYAK. Saved about $350 total for one week!

Cons:

I honestly don't like the hard sell that car rental companies often do and Alamo was no exception. She tried to sell me the full tank of gas, insurance that would have duplicated what we already had, told us about a toll booth gadget, but did not inform us there would be high charges if we used it $3.95/day we later found out. I would love it if ONE car company was truly honest and told us "You really don't need this, but we offer it"

We had to wait about 20 minutes for someone to come to the counter. We were at least first in line by the time they came back. Someone from another car rental kiosk said they were moving cars and would return. Everything else was pretty good. It was a little difficult to find the car, but we eventually figured it out.

The gas tank could have been filled rather than half empty and the license tans could have been legal. They expired two months back and I worried about being stopped the whole time for expired plates.
