Enjoy the relaxing calm of the ocean breeze with nature at your footsteps in this unique iconic property in Chemainus on Vancouver Island. This beach home is perfect for small getaways to unwind and enjoy waking up to 180 ocean views and walks on the beach and to the downtown. It is not well-suited to large groups or loud living, as the neighborhood is very peaceful and serene. The maximum occupancy is 6 people including children, as there are 3 bedrooms. Please no smokers. Great for couples and families: Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there are 4 different sitting areas inside the house and 2 outside, allowing plenty of space, yet plenty of room to all get together in any of the rooms. We have a pack and play crib, children's books and family games. The direct access to the beach and heated outdoor shower to rinse off make the stay more enjoyable. We have a new washer and dryer to keep up with the laundry load. Also, you can't beat this: there is a children's park and playground right next door and is viewable and callable from the house. Our children (ages 8 and 10) love this house and all of the things to do. Great for business travelers: Our home is well situated for business travelers to the Nanaimo / Duncan region. Victoria is about 1 hour. We provide bathroom supplies, iron, ironing board, coffee and tea, printer, several working desks, and high-speed Internet access. Not great for large groups, loud guests, smokers, or people with dog allergies. Please: no smokers, either inside or outside, as the smoke goes into my mother's unit. Please note: While we do not allow guests to bring pets, we do have a miniature short hair dachshund named Frankie that calls the beach house his home. So if you are sensitive to small short hair dogs, this is not be the house for you. We purchased this vacation home in Summer 2017 and spent several months renovating the interior. We spend as much time as possible there with our small family. My mother lives in the lower unit, so we are share more time with her, as well. The house has a large and bright open floor plan with kitchen, bar area and living room all in the conversational space. The house was specifically designed to take advantage of the incredible ocean views with large windows. Even on rainy days, it's amazing how bright the house is due to all of the windows. TLDNR; The house was designed by the original owner to be a large floorplan with low density - hence 3 bedrooms for 3,400 sq ft house. The ideal maximum configuration for comfort is 6 people, including children. There are 3 outside decks, with private access to the beach from the deck. There are 3 cozy living room areas to relax indoors - two on the main level and 1 upstairs. The house has a separate and dedicated in-law unit in basement where Jenny's Costa Rican mother often stays. She has lived in the Cowichan Valley for the past 30+ years and can answer many questions you may have. Nature abounds in the water in front of the house. There are ducks, seals and otters, as well as orcas that swim father out in the sound. There are thousands of sand dollars to see when the tide goes down. And if you make it out to the little island out front, there are several species of crabs and clams that live there. The ocean is very swimmable in the summer because of the shallow coast line that warms up the water when the tide goes out. The beach house is an "end unit" where it adjoins a small town park, playground and beach. The views from the house are unobstructed for about 240 degrees. The living space faces the ocean with total privacy from the neighbors. The beach is only 38 steps down to the lower beach deck, and then about 5 steps on a removable ladder to the sand. In the summertime, the water is warm and calm. There is a tiny island you can either swim or walk to, depending on the tide. Guest access: Guests have access to the entire main floor and upper floor of the 3-story house. When the weather is rainy, you can have access to the house through the lower level garage. The bottom unit is usually occupied by my mother, who can answer questions and make sure your stay is great. Details: Stunning ocean views from all rooms 3 large bedrooms consisting of 1 king bed, 2 queen bed, and 2 full/double beds 3 outdoor sitting and dining decks Modern chef's kitchen with comfortable seating at a dining table, barrel chairs, counter top and bar stools (a total of 12 chairs in kitchen conversation area). The kitchen should have everything you need to make dinner for 10 people, as we do for Thanksgiving. Direct access to the beach - 38 steps to the beach and lower beach deck with a movable aluminum ladder 5-minute walk to the downtown with galleries, shops, theatre, high-end grocery store (49th Parallel), cafes, liquor store and restaurants, including the Sawmill Tap House restaurant and famous brewery (Riot Brewery) which makes some of the Island's best craft beer. Don't miss the fantastic Duncan Farmer's Market every Saturday morning, all year round, rain or shine. They have the freshest local fruits and vegetables, baking, jams & jellies, honey, crafts, clothing, pet treats, and more. Live music every Saturday from April to Oct. Only 1 hour to Salt Spring Island (with ferries - it is actually very close by private boat), an hour and 20 minutes to downtown Victoria and and 30 minutes to Nanaimo. And there are a number of large shopping stores which are only 15 to 20 minutes away, including Canadian Tire, Walmart, HomeDepot, Superstore, Best Buy, etc. Close to Nanaimo, Duncan, numerous wineries, 18-hole golf club. whale watching, antique stores, and swimming, pools, and a couple of hours away from Mt. THE OUTSIDE DECKS The Lounge Deck: The lounge deck is just off of the master bedroom and kitchen, and features a conversation couch set to enjoy the incredible views of the ocean and gulf islands. Please do not use this deck after 10 pm out of consideration for our neighbors. The Dining Deck: The dining deck is located off of the kitchen and features a 5 piece round table that has a 180-degree view of the ocean and the gulf islands. It also has a large gas grill. The Ocean Deck: Only 38 steps to the beach deck, where you can sit just above the surf and watch the beachgoers play in the water and walk their dogs. Or you can climb down to the beach from the deck via a movable aluminum ladder. Please remember to lift the ladder after use so we don’t have uninvited beachgoers coming upon to the property. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout for year round ice free fishing. The home backs on to the 15th hole of Mount Brenton Golf Course. So golf out the back door and fish, swim, canoe, and kayak out the front door! Practice your tennis strokes on the concrete tennis backboard, and canoe across the lake to the public courts at Fuller Lake Park, or use the sand volleyball courts. The 3,000 square foot home features 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, 2 woodburning fireplaces.
