The room & bathroom were clean. The atmosphere in the common areas and the room were very pleasant. Friendly and helpful staff.
The room was a bit expensive for a hostel without breakfast.
Location is great, stuff nice and helpful, very stylish and modern hostel so cozy and nice
The hostel was really nice! It was clean and pretty beautiful! The district was a rich one, I felt safe in the day time, but not in the eventing time alone as a women.
There wasn’t so many restaurants or cafe’s to go. Only really big main streets and not so much to see around. There was a park by 15min walks, wich was nice but that was it in walking distance.
Wifi not working
it was a decent social hostel for solo travelers like me to meet with fellow travelers. It is relatively close to the Fort as well as major transportation hubs (still Tuk Tuk distance). The breakfast table is nice and big that allow easy socialization.
I arrived at 2am only to find out there's no basic toiletries (other than toilet papers and a bottle of ugly looking hand soap) in my private double room. I ended up showering without any soup or body wash for the first night (you can't even buy from hostel). This is very disappointing given the money I paid ($45usd per night). This is my first hostel I stayed that literally has no necessities provided or purchasable; No nearby convenient stores (that are less than 10mins by walk) either. AC in the room is also very weak, and the bathroom has a wide open window that's not closable (fortunately it's only facing the jungle). No breakfast is provided or offered as an addon, inconsistency staff knowledge level some seems to know all questions that tourists commonly ask for (the evening staff seemed to be either quite clueless or just didn't want to talk to me). Typically I expect hostels have tour info, and helps facilitate tours like simple Fort Walking tours in addition to the private Tuk Tuk tours, transportation other than the overpriced private transfers. After travelled throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America. I have to say this hostel is a bit on the disappointing side. I am writing this at the end of my Sri Lankan trip, my tip is to lower the expectation when dealing hostel scene in Sri Lanka, aside from south beach side, I think the scene is still in its infant stage.
