Casa Betania

Absolutely fantastic big terrace overlooking a wide valley and you can also see as far as the lake. Gorgeous view!! Quite a nice breakfast. Bedrooms very basic, but fine. Had booked a double room for single occupancy but was given a triple (3 single beds), but they changed me to a double room with no problems when I asked. Would be a good place to stay if you were staying in Cortona for several days, and I think it would be quite good for families.

Location is out of the main part of town, and the directions are very bad!! I had quite a bit of trouble finding the place. I was only staying one night, so it wasn't ideal to be quite far from the town centre. Got absolutely no information from the woman at reception about anything, just a room key, I had to prompt for everything. It's a big place, has a bit of an 'old hospital' feel to it and was quite eerie because it was pretty much empty (a Monday night in early May - understandable). Not a good option for solo travellers, but fine for couples/families I think.
