C$ 240+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Clow Beck House in Darlington, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Blackwell Grange Golf Club and Paddock Farm Nursery & Water Gardens. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clow Beck is charming, full of character and had lovely grounds and garden. The owners David and Heather were very welcoming and helpful and willing to accommodate for any dietary or special requests. I appreciated the uniqueness of the property which made it interesting. The location was excellent, close by Rockliffe Hall Golf Course and my accommodation was spotlessly clean. I also enjoyed an evening meal, which started with pre-dinner drinks on the patio, followed by dinner in the Clow Beck dining room. Produce was deliciously fresh and local as I witnessed hand delivery of freshly picked vegetables from a local producer that very day. I’ve discovered a little gem.
Cons: A softer mattress would suit me better, but that’s individual needs. Despite this, I would stay again when I am next in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, nice to stay at a place where the warm service is provided, very nice , , but apart from that I would recommend this place to stay.
Cons: only slight downside was the food was on the pricey side

Pros: Clow Beck House is a unique and wonderful place to stay. Heather & David make it a home from home with their warm welcome and unique service, which is reflected in their price & WORTH every penny. This is my 2nd stay here and I will definitely be staying here again when I am next in this area. Thank you Heather & David for a great weekend

Pros: Our roast dinner was lovely.Staff couldn't do enough for us
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: The lady on reception was very kind. The food was excellent.
Cons: In the restaurant for dinner there was a crowd of revelers at the bar. They were VERY LOUD and boisterous. It seemed out of keeping with a restaurant to have a "public bar" in the restaurant. The crowd at the bar were all young. I thought they were guests living it up after their meal, or had come in off the street. I would have gone somewhere else but it was late and the hotel is a bit out of the way. Thankfully the crowd left after about half. I asked the waitress if they were resident as I would have had breakfast somewhere else. The waitress told me they were STAFF! This really is unacceptable. Best Western do not invest millions of pounds into their hotel chain for their public perception to be destroyed by their own staff. If these young people are planning a career in the hospitality industry they need to be very, very different. Based on my experience in the restaurant I would not stay at this hotel again. This is such a pity as in all other aspects it was outstanding. I reported the incident to reception when checking out. I was told they would look into it. I hope they do as Best Western have a true gem here which their own staff should not be allowed to destroy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, staff,food,and room.
Cons: Nothing
7.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful setting. Spacious rooms and bathroom. Authentic castle atmosphere and decorations. Good food, available all day and evening. It was the perfect setting for our family.
Cons: The beds were very hard, I ended up sleeping on the sofa. I've had back surgery and a hip replacement and could not bear to lie on this hard mattress, felt like concrete. The staff said they would bring up another duvet for me to lie on but it never appeared, so I had 3 sleep-deprived nights.

Pros: The room we were given, room 4, was large and quiet which we had requested.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was great. Really comfortable bed, large stylish bathroom with stand up shower. Fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Very spacious room and it was stylishly decorated. Interior of the hotel was nice and sufficient parking available.
Cons: Although it was midweek the bar lacked facilities and atmosphere. I was hoping for a greater choice of ales too, perhaps some Black Sheep since it is in North Yorkshire (albeit just!). Room service choice and availability poor and minibar in room not stocked. The exterior could do with a coat of paint and there was road noise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice stay
Cons: Functional
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast
Cons: Outside the entrance was messy and untidy
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel itself is lovely. Couldn't fault the room at all. Check in and check out staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast more than ample and tasty.
Cons: Breakfast lovely but evening meal was nothing short of disgusting. We were not charged at check out for our meal but that's beside the point. I'd rather pay for decent food. We made a complaint about our TV in the room and the man we spoke to had zero customer service skills whatsoever! Told us nobody else had a problem with their TV's! But I spoke to a couple later on who had had problems the day before! And it shouldn't matter if 'nobody else has complained about theirs'!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The size of the room
Cons: only staying one night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing value for money! Spotlessly clean, everything looked brand new. Rooms very spacious and bed very comfy - looked and felt like you should be paying a lot more! 5.0 Okay
Pros: Quiet room
Cons: Shabby decor Bed uncomfortable

Pros: The hotel staff were very friendly and willing to go out of their way which is always a bonus. The accommodation whilst was excellent was starting to look slightly worn and could do with a new decor in a few places but other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was lovely and quiet at night and I enjoyed a good nights sleep. I will definitely stay here again.

Pros: Good location, with walks from hotel.
Cons: The staff were friendly, unfortunately the service very slow. We waited on the terrace for 40 minutes after being given the drinks list then had to go to reception to get someone to take our order. Even then the bottle of wine was just dumped on our table, no offer to open the bottle and pour it.

Pros: Lovely grounds nice facilities enjoyed a spa treatment would definitely go back
Cons: Rooms a little dated
7.5 Good
Pros: Setting amazing Breakfast excellent
Cons: Room 7 horrendous very very noisy. Doors banged all night plus it's above the kitchen, so the staff could be heard from early on. We didn't have to pay for our evening meal as we waited 90mins from first arriving. Not a good experience, but I would still go again as I've been twice before and had no problems.
7.5 Good
Pros: Golf was good, staff friendly and comfy room
Cons: Price of drinks at the bar, massage not very good for the price and was only about 20 minutes for £27.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value. Comfortable bed although room tired around the edges & dust on skirting boards & furniture. Stables pub very shabby but hotel patio very pleasant. Dinner & breakfast both excellent although waiter service lacking. Ordered a bottle of wine & waiter dumped it on our table with 2 glasses unopened so we had to open & pour. Golf course is pretty good for a 9 hole. Only cost £12.50 a round, very quiet for a bank holiday. All inclusive deal with dinner also included a bottle of prosecco & chocolates. Overall unbeatable value and would stay there again when in the area
Cons: Poor standard of house keeping with regard to cleaning & dust.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were able to use the facilities from when we arrived to when we wanted to leave. It was spot on!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely hotel in all areas including the room, facilities, breakfast and staff. Highly recommended.
Cons: Pricey drinks in bar

Cons: Wifi was very slow. Paid twice the rate advertised on the building using booking.com. Shower grout very discolored.
7.9 Good
Cons: The bathroom was just a tad too old. Anyways the room was generally clean, with compliments of coffee and tea. Easy check-in and check-out.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: To say this was one of the poorest hotels I have stayed in would be an understatement. The general level of cleanliness was awful, cobwebs all around reception, mould and stains in room, spoon in cup in room still very dirty etc etc. The whole place also smelled very musty including the room. It may have been relatively cheap at £89 but this is no excuse for it to be so dirty!!
