The location was excellent. An amazing atmospheric and quirky hotel with so much character.
For the cost of the rooms I think there should be a bar / lounge area for guest of a evening breakfast was ok not value for money ... wasn’t expecting kelogs cornflakes for cereal at breakfast! .... that’s something you expect at else where ...
Thank you so much for your assistance with check out and making an alternative arrangement until we were able transfer to the airport. It was very much appreciated. Excellent service!
The rooms are stunning but the power points are in strange places.
The rooms are very striking and certainly unique and the location is amazing. Really liked the fact that they had classical music on low in the room when they checked us in, it gave a nice ambience. We had a lovely waiter at breakfast who was friendly and chatty.
The hotel seems to lean on it's uniqueness. While the rooms are stunning at first glance the toilet in our room (The Heriot suite) had a loose seat which slid all over the place and was incredibly low. There was barely enough room between the toilet and the wall even for me (I'm 8.5st and 5ft 5). There were areas where the paint was peeling and there were water marks on pretty much every flat surface. The sofa bolster was broken so you couldn't really sit on without sliding off. Most of the staff were less than friendly and we got the general impression that we were tolerated rather than welcomed. It wasn't a negative experience but I wouldn't go back.
