Red Carpet Inn is a great choice for a stay in Gettysburg. Free perks include WiFi and self parking. Rooms feature conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
AC filter hasn't been changed in decades, couldn'tPros: It's 10 minutes from downtown Gettysburg and is adjacent to a larger set of hotels that were hosting an event we were attending. The maintenance staff seemed friendly, though my interactions with them were limited. Cons: AC hadn't had its filter changed since smoking was allowed in the rooms. Turning the AC on made our room smell like cigarette smoke and I had trouble breathing for all three nights of my stay. My nose bled and I woke up hoarse. They charge $10/night/pet--CASH!--and would not give me a receipt at the time of transaction. There was a dead roach on the side of the bed when I first entered the room. Bedding was sparse--instead of a fitted bottom sheet, the bed had 2 top sheets and a comforter that probably hadn't been washed in ages. The comforter had burn holes in it, which suggests it is as old as the appliances in the room. They were also the color of nicotine staining, for what that's worth. The pillows were hard and felt congealed, which is what I would expect of pillows that haven't been changed in ages. The room was not laid out well and it was difficult to get to the sink.
Pros: The people who operate itCons: The mold / midew odor, the out of date surroundings, stained comforter, stained carpet. The second room was downstairs in what would classify as a basement, complete with cinder block walls. The mildew odor was extreme in this room, but travelling with 5 children and this being the only availible motel I had no alternative. I would certainly not stay here again, nor reccomend it to any one
