Very interesting house and fabulous multi level room. A cupboard full of different teas! Fresh milk in a fridge in your room (and wine), open fires, books everywhere and a dog to play with, bliss. Home made shortbread biscuits, chocolate brownies and a lovely tasty breakfast(with a tray full of home made preserves and jams). A fabulous, friendly host in a wonderful location.
Lovely period property- fantastic room, lovely land lady and breakfast better than Michelin starred places
Cate was a friendly, welcoming and interesting host providing afternoon tea and delicious home-made cakes in the comfortable lounge. The en suite bedroom was beautifully appointed and decorated with more home-made cakes and a huge range of teas and coffee. The bed and bed linen was highest quality. The breakfast was also delicious and plentiful with a wide menu. The location was beautifully tranquil in its own gardens overlooking nearby fells. In summary this was a most perfect stay; we were only sorry we could only stay one night.
Loved it, was so nice to stay somewhere where the host was thoughtful with lots of little touches, torch by bed, biscuits and brownie, extra toiletries etc Definitely recommend it ❤️
I would have liked beans with breakfast but that’s being picky as the breakfast was excellent
Broughton House is a stunning property set in beautiful countryside. Cate could not have given us a warmer welcome on arrival and was a perfect host throughout out stay: extremely friendly, thoughtful, considerate, and with some great tips on where to visit in the local area. Our room (East Room) was spectacular, with one of the comfiest (and biggest!) beds that we've ever slept in and wonderful views out to the hills. Breakfast was phenomenal - huge choice and everything prepared to a very high standard. Couldn't recommend a stay here highly enough!
Built around 1810, the charming Broughton House is located in 2 acres of gardens, south of the Lake District National Park. It has hearty Aga breakfasts and spacious bedrooms. Produce used in the breakfast is locally sourced and includes eggs from the hens in the garden. The bread is homemade and lighter options such as scrambled eggs and Cartmel Valley smoked salmon are also available. Individually decorated, the bedrooms have wooden floors and a large, luxurious bathroom with free toiletries. They also feature tea/coffee making facilities and garden views. The village of Cartmel, with its 12th-century priory is just 2 miles from the Broughton and junction 36 of the M6 motorway is a 20-minute drive away. There is free parking at the property.
