I'm deaf/blind with a guide dog and the staff were fantastic
food was of a good standard and reasonably priced
Lack of heating in main bar,and breakfast ended too early...10 o'clock would be more appropraite
only the food at night and breakfast
no heating and no tv also the bed sloped down hill
The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient and the breakfast is excellent! This is a lovely old hotel, ideal for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
There was nothing to disliike; the rather old-fashioned decor is part of the charm. There are a lot of stairs which might be difficult for someone not 100% mobile.
It was close to other forms of transport eg trains busses
Heating turned of at 11pm
single room was very small
Brusque staff, tatty rooms.
Wow, we had such an amazing stay at The Bear, with all the staff being so friendly and helpful. The food was sensational and our bedroom and facilities were excellent.
Staff were friendly and helpful. No one was too busy to stay hello or ask how my day was, very refreshing and welcoming
too many stairs and doors with no offer of help to get to room. rooms decor was very shabby as was the mould round the bath and bath mat
