Pros: Black Forest B&B is a lovely place situated conveniently in Helen. Staff were very friendly and ready to do anything for us. Suite was very spacious and well appointed, very comfortable bed, recliner settee and a red, heart shaped double bath with jacuzzi! Breakfast was great, freshly cooked, with a variation each day. Ideally located for activities and eating places in Helen, but also a great location for visiting places within an hour/hour and a half's drive. The whole area is beautiful. We enjoyed 8 days of wonderful holiday. Jerry assisted by Darlene made it a great stay.
Cons: Nothing, but plates and cutlery would make the kitchenette really handy. However, these were very readily supplied when we asked.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful
Cons: Check in process was painfully slow. One person only at a desk and had to wait for others to check in ahead of us. The staff person was very slow and non-business talkative. Not very efficient. Did not appear to be in a hurry even though other guests were waiting to check-in. Then another staff member came up with a question and she left for a few minutes to help him - as we continued to wait. The check in process was the only weak link during our stay - everything else was first class.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: It was amazing very peaceful we loved it

Pros: We liked the location and how quiet it was. It was beautiful up on the mountain. The rooms were large and had everything we needed. If we asked for something, like ice, it was immediately provided.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Best staff start to finish! Everyone was so friendly & helpful. A wonderful stay all around.
Cons: The Sky Bar closes at 9. I would think a bar would be open until at least 10.

Pros: Very nice hotel with very comfortable bed.
Cons: The trash had not been emptied in our room and a staff member (not front desk clerk) was rude on a few occasions, I was very shocked at those two things. Everything else about the stay was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: I wish you had bacon every day. I can't eat sausage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was awesome better than I expected! The outdoor fire at night was definitely a bonus. I would stay here again.
Cons: There was no jacuzzi
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Could have used a lighter blanket in room. Just using sheet too light using blanket on bed too heavy.
Cons: Bed very comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice lobby, nice room, and amazing staff. Should be listed as a 3-star! Most amazing was the city of Helen. Such a cute little Bavarian/German themed village in the mountains!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy bed and pillows. Breakfast was fantastic. Room was clear and mostly quiet had everything it advertised besides a hair dryer not a big deal to me but the lady could have used it. I wasn’t expecting so much but it overdelivered and in a good spot in the city of Helen. 9/10 would recommend.
Cons: Check in and out times were odd.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the area so they gave us directions to places to eat and sights to see.
Cons: When I was booking it online it said our room had two double beds but when we got there it only had 1 king size bed.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel was great and in a wonderful location. The room was very nice and large. The bed was very comfortable. See below why I want stay again.
Cons: The hotel let pets in due to Hurricane Dorian, the room smelled just like a wet nasty dog. The people next door left there BIG dog alone in the room and for the two nights I stayed the dog barked non-stop until 1 o'clock in the morning. Both nights I was in the room by 9 and the dog barked until after 1 am both night. I complained to the lady at check out and she did nothing. I'M ALSO ALLERGIC TO CATS AND DOGS SO I WAS SICK during my stay. You should keep to your rules. I stay at hotel that don't allow pets due to being so allergic to animals. I am so sorry about the hurricane putting people out. That is the reason I was in Helen because I had to leave Savannah so not only was I put out I had a very bad experience with Holiday Inn. First time staying at a Holiday Inn, I probably will not stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean
Cons: Their was to much moisture in the air/room and everything was damp including our clothes.

Pros: The location and the scenery. Perfect.
Cons: Some construction going on but really did not hinder our fun time.
7.1 Good
Pros: The room was very nice, we had a suite with our own balcony, and two entrances to the room.
Cons: The motel refused to match the price that I booked. Because it was Labor Day weekend they said the room rate was too cheap and I paid triple what I booked the room for. The manger was pretty rude and refused to cooperate with booking.com staff when they called, or with me when I arrived. Because it was Labor Day weekend and everything was sold out, I had no choice but too pay the fee. Thankfully booking.com is going to make it right for me since the hotel would not!

Pros: walking distance to everything, very friendly staff
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was as good as the surrounding restaurants and it was free! So that saved about $30 each morning. The beds were decent too, which is very important to us. The location was perfect because we didn't have to fight a lot if traffic coming in or leaving and it was within walking distance of almost everything.
Cons: The swimming pool was not nearly as nice as the photos show. It's actually falling apart in places. The only thing remotely dirty was the shower curtain had mildew/mold at the bottom but after the room we had just left in Chattanooga, we could deal with that.
10.0 Excellent

6.3 Good
Pros: It was a convenient location. The front desk staff was great. Very efficient and provided a quick check in.
Cons: The breakfast was not that great. We skipped it on our second (last) stay. Hot food was lukewarm and not as fresh as it could have been. Not a variety of fresh fruit or pastries. Nothing was as fresh as I have experienced at other Hampton Inns. We paid a ridiculously expensive rate for an average stay.

Cons: Nothing -not enough bacon
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Good bed
6.7 Good
Pros: Location, exterior appearance, covered parking area and personnel interaction with guests.
Cons: Interior appearance dated and worn out, plus the carpet in our room so dirty that the bottom of our bare feet or socks had to be cleaned within minutes of walking in the room. This is a first experience like this in all of our years staying at a Hilton property.

Cons: All was good.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: AC wasn't working, TV wasn't working too, the bad cleaning , out of orden ICE machine
5.8 Okay
Cons: The room was small and cramped....the view was poor....the cable was out the entire time we stayed and the internet was sketchy at best...the only one time I tried to log on my laptop, I had no service.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: If I had to say anything negative it would be spider webs everywhere outside on doors windows sidewalks ..other than that our stay was awesome ,excellent and enjoyable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the views and the staff!! Especially the shuttle driver Robert I think ... many guests don’t seem to use the shuttle, I found it very convenient and easy to use!!
Cons: There wasn’t anything I really disliked about the property .....
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location...AC made a terrible noise and the building was rally tired
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful and clean, not too far from downtown
Cons: Prices for breakfast, lunch & dinner too expensive.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean and shower was the best!!!!
Cons: Restaurant and bar were not terrible but definitely could use some improvements. The buffet was a little sad looking. The food on it looked like it was well made but it all looked very bland and there wasn't much to choose from. Ended up ordering off the menu. Food was pretty good but it took an hour to get. Bartenders didn't know how to make cocktails despite having a cocktail menu. Drinks ended up being good after tweaking but still...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked being near downtown and Anna Ruby Falls.
Cons: The breakfast was overpriced. I couldn't get my phone to connect to the wifi but that could be a carrier issue.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was good and the atmosphere was rustic. Outdoor fire at night to hang out around.
Cons: The buildings are old and need updating. The air conditioner put a lot of moisture into the room.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location.
Cons: The beds were severely caved in the middle. Mattresses apparently very old. Litterly could not turn over once in the bed. I'm 60, but my son had the same issue ...he is in his 20's and very fit. We sleped very little while there. The parking was about 100 yards from our room, so lots of trips to load and unload. I also discovered we paid premium price and actually found lower prices for the same room at the same lodge ...after we left. That's on me, should have price shopped, before I booked it. Also the dining room was closed while we were there..
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: I like how the hotel is set up. It feels like a summer camp. It’s Kinda cool.
Cons: This hotel is stuck in the 70s. I paid $36 at the restaurant for noodles that were still crunchy. I felt like I should have worn my shoes in the shower so I didn’t get foot fungus. The air conditioning unit (maybe?) was right outside our room and made a terrible noise all night. Beds were hard as a rock. Horrible. Don’t waste your money. Find somewhere else to stay.

Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Guest above made so much noise, we thought they were remodeling the room. At 10 PM I called the front desk & complained. I told the desk clerk we had been listening to the noise from the time we checked in. The desk clerk called me back & stated that they would quiet down. They did about 1 AM. We complained again when we checked out. Will never stay at this motel again.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms have recently been re-done and they look very nice. The bed was comfy, and the hotel was located very close to everything we wanted to do. Very clean. They even allowed us to park our car there for a few hours after check-out so we could walk around the city without having to find and pay for parking.
Cons: The breakfast wasn't too amazing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly.
Cons: The floors in the room need to be mopped between guests, were filthy. Rest of room clean.

Pros: This was the first visit to a Red Roof since they used purple bedspreads (which my daughter loved). It was an improvement! Good breakfast.
Cons: The Inn is on a hill. The parking spot for our room was close to a drop off which I found a bit unnerving. Thank goodness for the backup tv on our car. Except for a few end rooms, every thing else in the parking lot was level.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: We liked the pool, the hot tub, the slide, and the location of Alpine Crest Resort. It was a very peaceful place.
Cons: We didn’t like that the front entrance of the apartment as it was below the road and overgrown with vines. My mother is 83 and had difficulty with the stairs going in and out. The sofa bed was not comfortable according to children who slept on it who felt like it was going to fold up on them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of room and love the pool and water slides!
Cons: Needs some updating. Difficult to walk into the downtown area.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was great.
Cons: We paid for a loft w/ a hot tub and got a regular condo. We would like a refund for the difference.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was great, Easy to walk a scenic route into the wonderful town of Helen.
Cons: The twin beds could not have been more uncomfortable. The kitchen was not stocked with some of the basics like salt and pepper, tea bags, little packets of sugar and coffee creamer and all of our previous vacation apartments have had those little basics. Carpet around fireplace was in bad shape. The place just did not feel clean.
10.0 Excellent

6.7 Good
Pros: The eggs were good. The rooms were old and I didn’t like that the door to the room opened from outside the building making me not feel as safe.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Patrick was so helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was good, great location.Staff was amazing, especially the manager!!
6.7 Good
Pros: The location was great, off the beaten path at Helen and fairly quiet. The staff was very friendly, especially the young lady who helped us at about 100pm on 9/01 when we arrived. They told us the room was not ready. We were eventually placed in Room 124.
Cons: The breakfast, when I arrived at 815am in the lobby the morning of 09/12/19 was almost non-existent. There were a good amount of very undercooked gray-colored sausage links that were not being eaten (most likely because of their negative appearance) , no eggs were present at all as the container was empty. You could see that they may have been there earlier but they were all gone.. There were 2 biscuits left and a small amount of cold gravy. So much for the hearty, hot breakfast we were told about at check in. I grabbed two coffees to go and went back to the room to pack and leave. As far as the room, it seemed clean enough so no issues there. However, there was a very strong odor that didn't seem like cleaning solution but more of an air freshener. It had a pungent "incense" type smell. It was so strong that we discussed asking if we could change rooms. But since they had supposedly just cleaned the room ( we had to wait until 415p to finally check in), we thought it would fade way after some time. So we went out to eat and shop & when we returned several hours later, the smell had not subsided. So, we dealt with it. It was so strong that after arriving home the next day, our clothes, our suitcase and my CPAP Machine all reeked of the same smell. I had to thoroughly clean my machine and replace the air filter in it to get the smell out of it and make it usable again.
1.0 Poor
Pros: I interacted with two different staff members one of those members was kind.
Cons: The hotel had bugs. The staff gave me a different room but that room had bugs as well. This hotel needs a super cleaning. Also I interacted with two different staff members. One was kind, the other was rude. I can't accept rude behavior. No excuse!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Freindly staff. Comfortable room
1.0 Poor
Pros: The location was okay. It was within walking distance to the tubing area.
Cons: The room had a sour smell. The staff did not have the room stocked with towels or bed linen for the pull out sofa. The pull out sofa would not pull out and no one came to assist until after midnight. The hotel is not adequately staffed. Old nasty hotel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its a charming little place right on the river. The front desk girls are very sweet and friendly. The rooms are clean and big. The housekeeping ladies were extremely sweet and talkitive. I asked for extra towels and she handed them to my right away. We got locked out of our room by means of the saftey lock latched somehow. The owners were there at the door within a minute. As they worked on it, offered to put us in another room so we could cool off (it was 93 degrees). We declined as we were fine. It took a crobar and some muscle to get us in but we laughed and cut up the entire time. Everyone we met (staff and guest) had to be the most friendly people I have been around. Like I said, needs a fresh coat of paint but the place is so charming and quiet. We will definatly stay here when we come back next month.
Cons: It could use some new paint on the outside. But thats not a big deal.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: 1. Hot and cold on jacuzzi bath tub reversed 2. Water heater not big enough to fill jaccuzi tub. 3. Downstairs toilet rocked.. I tightened wing nuts down. Should be caulked to flooring 4. Downstairs shower not hot enough. Anti Scauled guard needs adjus
6.7 Good
Pros: The location right on the river was great and within walking distance to everything.
Cons: Needed lots of repairs.
7.1 Good
Pros: The price was great given the central location. Staff were friendly. Loved sitting down by the river on the property. Beds were fine and sheets/towels are clean.
Cons: Very shabby inside and out. No onsite laundry.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly guests too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The river front property was awesome, and the rooms were immaculately clean.
Cons: The outside of the motels were not as nice as the insides, and the sink drain was little clogged. Still was a great place.
7.9 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed, really soft sheets! Excellent location with quite a few riverside swings and picnic tables.
Cons: Stayed there a year ago (same room) complained about lack of water pressure in shower and fluctuations in water temperature. There was a new shower head, but the problem was exactly the same. The room definitely needs repairs. (Hole in one of the walls, table in room rickety.)
4.6 Okay
Pros: Within walking distance to the center of town. River runs along the property makes for a nice atmosphere.
Cons: Facilities are old and in need of updating. The room should have been better for the money I paid.
6.0 Good
Pros: Decent motel in nice location on the river. All the shops & restaurants are in walking distance. It's been a long time since any substantial renovations have been done.
Cons: Poorly done, cheap repairs & drywall fixes. Floors show signs of a leaky fridge... needs updating.
5.0 Okay
Pros: They were nice. It was on the creek.
Cons: The room was nasty and it smelled like a old molded basement. The floor had a whole in it,with a nasty rug thrown over it. The bed skirt had puke on it and had already molded. No clock...no where to plug your cell phone.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect.
Cons: The bed was a little uncomfortable.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location. We were a 4 minute walk from the strip.
Cons: The hot water for thehot tub didnt work, the couches were stained and gross. The kitchen was falling apart and the bed was hard. The property was junky even without the renovation supplies everywhere and the cabin i was in was already "upgraded" but it was still a mess and poorly done. Will not be staying here again.

Pros: Breakfast was cheap and just packaged goods. Room smelled. Generally unclean. Will not stay here again and do not recommend.
7.5 Good
Pros: Desk clerk was nice, restaurant was great n waitress was wonderful
Cons: Website stated breakfast and found pre-wrapped food, might want to put continental instead.
5.0 Okay
Pros: It was nice being next to the creek, but the walkway down to the water was obstructed by a fallen tree. The woman working the desk was very nice.
Cons: They didn't have sufficient staff for turning over the rooms. We weren't able to check in until a couple of hours after check in time because they only had 1 person cleaning rooms. They did give us a late check out the next day.
7.5 Good
Pros: Bed was fine and breakfast food you had a selection anyone would want.
Cons: The rooms needed updated like the furniture. For the size of the room the fireplace the rock is to big and needs to be replaced. It over powered the room.
7.5 Good
Pros: breakfeast was aweful location was great
Cons: out dated facilities
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The view from the entrance was over the creek and beautiful!
Cons: Very old Very run down Terrible beds Pool was not in working order Office smelled of cigarette smoke Throw back to 1968- golden rod and green and brown Place should be torn down and a new hotel in the same place
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location is perfect and staff very friendly.
Cons: The room smelled like mildew and like it was never opened before. Beds were very uncomfortable and ended up with back pain. The blankets smelled like they were never used before and kept in that wood drawer we found them forever. They should not even say breakfast was included since all that I can buy for like $3 at a gas station, the only hot item was coffee.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: The bad smell, roaches in room, hair in bathtub, super old furniture, old and dirty blanket.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice view, great location, friendly staff, relaxing, and relatively affordable. They have breakfast and rooms overlooking the creek. Also, they have areas for hrilling along the stream. It is fun to watch the tubers go by!
Cons: I suggest this place. Nothing negative to say.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was limited to packaged foods and caloric. The room was clean but the part of the hotel near the river was not aesthetic. But our room was comfortable.
4.2 Okay
Pros: This place hasn't be improved on in decades. There were moths in our room, but we were glad there were no cockroaches. Do yourself a favor and stay home.
Cons: Not just old, but old and run down.
5.0 Okay
Pros: It's quiet, but that's because of the noise ordinance in that area. German restaurant next door.
Cons: The hotel is very old in appearance. Nothing at all like the pictures on the internet. Not even remotely. A cheap motel with reputable higher standing hotel costs. Parts of broken air conditioning unit left outside our room near the stairs the entire stay. Empty flower pots along hotel deck. Dirty carpet throughout outside hotel deck. Pool area looks like it's been closed for years with dirt and debris covering the pool cover. Musty odor when entering room. Mattress covered, but box spring was filthy. Breakfast is a joke. Small boxes of various sugary cereals, honeybuns, miniature pecan pies, other comparable sugary products, sugary oatmeal packets, packets of grits, miniature microwavable sausages biscuits, loaf of white bread, coffee and miniature bottles of sunny delight orange juice. That's the entire breakfast they provide. This hotel literally looks like it's going bankrupt.

Cons: They didn't come in and clean and bring more towels. They didn't have any ice.
6.0 Good
Pros: I don't eat breakfast but my wife does, she liked it, Forgot I did have one of the blueberry muffins, it was good, wife made a waffle. We smoke so we got maybe the only smoking room their. They did spray something in there to get rid of the smoke smell I guess, but why, another smoker is going to come in, wife didn't like the smell at all. Everything was right there for us, restaurant bar next store and the food was great and cost was very reasonable.
Cons: Pool wasn't filled, wife super angry, they were in the process of filling it which takes days with a hose, however we could go to the Jameson Inn and another motel if we wanted, as the same person owns all 3. Town is a complete tourist trap with corresponding prices, i.e $12.00 prextels. Thankfully a normal priced restaurant was next store, The place is a little run down but it's the cheapest in town and didn't have unrealistic expectations, the bed was beyond comfortable, never sleep better.

Pros: Everything
Cons: I was extremely satisfied
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The jacuzzi tub worked.
Cons: The comforter on the bed was badly stained (NASTY!) and so we did not even use it. No additional bedding was provided besides a single sheet. The bathroom had mildew in the corners and the shower curtain rod was partially broken off the wall - we were not about to use the shower and have it fall in on us. One of the walls was badly scratched up - a little paint would have fixed that in five minutes, but I don't know if anyone is working on this property. The knob for the air conditioner was broken and I had to turn it with a pair of pliers I had in the car. The "breakfast" was the biggest (or smallest?) joke I've ever seen of a meal. First off, the "breakfast" room was mostly taken up with a single table for six or so and you could barely fit around it to get to the meager offerings - when we arrived an hour before the end of the the breakfast time, all that was left were two pre-packaged microwavable sausage biscuits and some milk. YOU SHOULD NOT BE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO CALL THIS A BREAKFAST! We just left and ate elsewhere. I wish we would have just STAYED elsewhere instead, or just gone on home early. This motel was far MORE EXPENSIVE than anywhere else, but was far from the best. In fact, this was the worst place I have stayed in at least 15 years. I won't be back to this place ever, and I may never stay in Helen, GA again, if this is how the city is going to allow their businesses to be run. I think we should complain to the Helen Chamber of Commerce and put this place out of business or just force them to spend some time and effort on cleaning the nasty place up!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: I did not stay for breakfast. The hotel needs immediate updating such as outside painting and cleanliness around the property. It is very very shabby . The room was clean but very bad lamp shades and drapery did not close properly. I would not stay again unless improvements made. The staff was friendly enough but not at all professional looking in dress. This is a truly run down property.
Cons: all of the above noted issues.
5.0 Okay
Cons: We got really spooked at midnight when the manager came to our door and attempted to get into our room. It was a rather forceful attempt and really spooked to my wife. We called the police to make a report. We feel he clearly knew we were in that room since we were the only car parked in front of that area directly in front of the room and he even walked us to the room and let us in. Just ruined our night sleep. We will not be back
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything. Nice little town with many activities.
Cons: Nothing
6.0 Good
Pros: Location. Coffee. Friendly staff
Cons: Cigarette burns in comforter. Floor sticky.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and cleanliness was par. Contained a refrigerator, microwave and a really nice TV. Air conditioning worked really well. Location is amazingly quiet. The young man at the front desk was very personable and helpful. It was convenient to Cleveland where I visited Babyland...home of the Cabbage Patch Kids...interesting. Little girls would love it! Also nearby is the former home of one of Georgia's governors in the 1920's..Hardman Farm. Lovely old mansion...interesting history. Also on the property is an Indian mound which has a small interesting history. Nearby the mansion is the loveliest little church! Good restaurants in Helen. Convenient to Hiawassee and Dawsonville.
Cons: Helen is somewhat congested making it a little difficult to get around and also all the buildings look so much alike it is difficult to find anything.
