Very quiet and relaxing with excellent staff
Not very near anything
I enjoyed the retro feel of the hotel, like steping back into the past. I stay at many hotels as part of my work and it was nice to be treated as a 'guest' rather than a room number. The hotel staff were very pleasant and really helpful. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the hotel's history. The free WiFi worked first time and the connection never went down once - unlike many of the far more expensive hotels I have stayed in. Overall, I really liked this hotel and enjoyed my stay there. I'd be very happy to stay there again if the chance arose.
The only thing that could be considered a problem was that the room was too warm for me. So saying, I do like a very cool room so maybe I'm not representative.
very professional friendly staff excellent location, very well designed room food in restaurant first class
Excellent staff with no exceptions, first class food.
A bit noisy with crows and seagulls and the cobbled street outside.
We loved everything about our stay here. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming from the very start, and they obviously made real efforts to make everything as we needed it. The room was comfortable and very beautiful with real, antique furniture. The continental breakfast was a complete breakfast with delicious, fresh food and excellent coffee. And with our reservation we got a full-course dinner which was worthy of a 4-star restaurant. We could not have been happier and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
The location is slightly out of the way from the beaches and national park, which was what we were there for. But we had bikes, so the location was fine (and the hotel also has bikes for the guests). We found the town of IJmuiden a little depressing but the hotel is a little gem in the middle of it.
