Excellent 10.0
Pros: We loved every single thing about this hotel. The rooms, the bed, the huge balcony, the beautiful pool, the breakfast at the ocean front restaurant, the staff, the property, the amenities. Everything! We enjoyed it so much we kept extending our stay. Highly recommend!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was great.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything here is exquisite, truly. The property is so beautiful! You can see the care and detail they put into the hotel the minute you step through the door. Our room was spacious with a huge balcony with lounge chairs and a private tub, perfect for morning coffee or a sunset glass of wine. The pool area is so pretty and has lots of space with plenty of chairs. What makes this place extra special is the staff. Every single person has a warm smile and offers to help you in every way possible. This is a gem in Zihuatenejo! Highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was wonderful.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: An awesome and luxurious resort. Can't wait to go back again.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very good location, amazing beach, free Kajak and surfboard from hotel, so friendly staff, all the days new drinking water in the room
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautifully decorated and well situated. Staff were kind and accommodating.
Cons: I loved everything about this property. No complaints.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was absolutely incredible ! Such a special experience from start to finish.
Cons: Can’t say there was much I didn’t like.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The views and the location is excellent. Most rooms have full ocean view and some partial. Excellent staff - knowledgable, helpful and friendly. Very easy walk to downtown and to Playa la Ropa beach area. we went fishing organized thru hotel tour guide very affordable and fun experience.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Private, romantic, comfortable, beautiful views and affordable!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wonderful, friendly and helpful service from everyone there: especially Carlos, Martin, Jesus and Miguel. If your Spanish isn't great (mine certainly isn't), that is not a problem; their English is very good. The hotel is a little bit of heaven: only 30 rooms but with a good restaurant, bar with a great view over the bay, lush landscaping, lovely pool (with wait staff) plus the hotel is right on the beach. There's even a spa for massages, mani pedi etc. If you like excellent service in a small hotel with unbelievable value in an authentic Mexican fishing town (warts and all) that has lots of very good restaurants (from basic, inexpensive Mexican to fancy expensive international) this is the spot for you. If you want a huge, flashy, sterile hotel with lots of nightlife, multiple pools and lots of people eating and drinking all they can, then please go to Cancun.
Cons: No complaints, but If I had to pick something it would be the spotty wifi. That being said, I went to relax not to surf the Internet or spend time on facebook

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We loved the greenery, Adobe architecture, potted plants and natural areas on the grounds. The views were breathtaking too! The staff was wonderful!!! They went out of their way to make every day spectacular. Nearby beaches were clean and friendly too. We planned this trip to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays as well as the end of a Pandemic. Put this hotel on your bucket list!
Cons: This hotel does have elevators but it requires a lot of walking. It is built on a cliff side so the hotel wraps around the cliff making beautiful views with lots of steps to enjoy different areas of beautiful decor. We enjoyed the challenge! :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The vibe at the property was amazing it was so relaxing and peaceful. Our stay was literally heaven on earth. The sights were gorgeous from all angles of the hotel. The staff was so kind and helpful. The staff made our stay here so easy and pleasant. We felt safe and taken care of. My husband and I cannot wait to come back again. Overall one of the best travel experiences and stays we’ve had internationally.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything is beautifully executed.
Cons: Can’t think of a single dislike.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: LOVED the flowers on the bed each evening.
Cons: The place is a 10, loved everyting
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful hotel overlooking the beautiful bay of Zihuatanejo. Impeccable rooms , terrific staff and great food. This is a small boutique hotel with about 25 rooms and so you feel that you have all the privacy in the world . Terrific food in the dinning room and a very pleasant staff . We only stayed 3 days but will come back next year for at least a week

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Love location with the ocean views
Cons: Communication that eggs were extra with breakfast
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The grounds were beautiful and the pool was clean and refreshing. There are plenty of comfortable chairs and private spaces. The rooms were very nice and were cleaned daily. Please leave a daily tip for the cleaners! A lot of effort goes into cleaning. Showers were nice with plenty of hot water. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. A/C worked fine and kept the room cool. Breakfast was simple but good. Free wifi works fine on all the grounds. The staff is readily available and anxious to make your stay enjoyable. So enjoy your stay!
Cons: If you have might have trouble negotiating a very steep and narrow circular stairway, be sure to ask for one of the three suites on the lower level and park or have your driver drop you off around the corner at the back gate. There are several easy steps that take you to the lower rooms and the pool. It's also the exit to the beach.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The property was really lovely with a relaxing pool and garden. Breakfast was delicious - coffee, tea, fresh-squeezed juice, fruit, yogurt, granola, toast, sweet baked items. And eggs were also available, if you wanted to order extra items. Our room was great - comfy bed, clean bathroom, wonderful balcony. We loved it and hope to return again!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: A very warm welcome on arrival. Fantastic staff. Spotlessly clean rooms. The majority of which have a private outdoor pation area. Just a short walk to the beach and a variety of restaurants. Continental breakfast of orange juice, coffee, tea, yoghurt, granola, fruit and sweet breads included in the cost of the room.
Cons: Not the place to book if you have mobility issues. The only way to the pool, some of the lower level rooms and the rear exit to the road to the beach is via a spiral staircase. Water for coffee and tea at breakfast is heated on the stove. It would have been a nice to have access to a kettle for hot drinks during the day and evening.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Baldo was a wonderful host and fine breakfast cook for great omelettes. The view from our window was extraordinary. The bed was the best.
Cons: It was a bit of a climb from the beach to our room

Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is the best stay at a hotel I have ever had. The service was above and beyond every day. When we arrived we were told to treat this place as our home. This really was our home for a week. The entire staff was so helpful, attentive, and caring. We quickly became friends with the staff. They are the heart and soul here. This place is so much more than a hotel. It is a very personal experience where you are treated as the guests of honor. Plus the facility itself and the views are unbeatable. We can’t wait to come back and share this experience with friends!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The rooms were big, well kept, comfortable beds, solid WiFi, amazing views, staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: N/a
Excellent 9.0
Pros: New nespresso coffee great!
Cons: Nothing...awesome place! But have stayed in best room before, this one 9 not 10!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: All the staff has gone the extra mile. Karley has been extra special to us and also Chai makes a wonderful drink. We will come back!
Cons: Can’t think of anything
Excellent 10.0
Pros: View location cleanliness service food made fresh to order
Cons: Need to take taxi everywhere unless you are fit in able to walk in negotiate steep steps up and down
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely setting, great service. We were able to hang by the pool while waiting for our room since our flight came in the morning. Service got our breakfast delivered from nearby restaurant.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The place was beautiful and we had a beautiful view. During the day or the evening - it was amazing. Our room was so spacious and the staff was very very attentive. To have such a great view meant it was a climb to the top or taxi rides. It just requires a little planning since the road and the town are not really accessible by foot. We highly recommend.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: fantastic gourmet breakfast..... different every day nice surprise
Cons: a little out of my reach financially but well worth the extra

Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was an excellent property with great staff and a great location. Was worth the money.
Cons: I am not a fan of all the Covid measures but that's a whole other story. I am inclined to believe there are 2 groups emerging... those that are scared to death of Covid and might be clamoring for all the "protective" measures... and those that aren't. I and most of my family and friends already had it and blew thru it... time to move on. If I were a business person I would cater to the people that are not afraid and don't want all the mayhem... the others might want to stay home and "shelter" till it blows over... good luck with that one.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Probably one of the nicest properties in Playa La Ropa! The views...WOW! I highly recommend it!
Cons: The staff was great, very accommodating!
Good 7.0
Pros: Location was great.
Cons: Small food portions. You need to reserve a time at the pool. But, we were the only ones they kept coming over and asking our names and room numbers. We are only there for at a maximum of two hours a day and it was all reserved. There were people there that never left the pool and we’re never asked their room numbers. It was very obvious we were being treated that much differently than others at the resort. We were paying full price and all the resort fees.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent location and facilities! The restaurant at the hotel is amazing as well as the service from them. Some new guidelines ain’t so kids friendly, specially for the pool... everything else is highly recommendable
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The location is superb. Playa Blanca has almost no people at all, and during Pandemic is great to avoid crowds. With villas featuring private pools, it's a great place to disconnect from it all.
Cons: The staff is polite, but not really friendly. They didn't go out of their way to help in any extra way, and that made me feel unimportant. Considering the price for this location they ought to pay more attention to customer service. Having said that, they were never disrespectful. Also, beach front villas DO NOT have the basic kitchen stuff, not even a kettle. It does have a mini fridge, but that's it.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really great food and staff. Peaceful oasis away from busy Ixtapa area with beachfront views.
Cons: It’s off the beaten path so you’ll want to rent a car to go into town or budget in taxi service. 400 pesos to zihua one way. Strong rip tide so you can’t swim in ocean. Only wading in the surf to waist high or so.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Friendly staff Well maintained grounds Location on beautiful beach
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The complex and rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and well appointed. The checkin and restaurant service was attentive. I would stay here again!
Cons: Restaurant needs to step Up the menu, particularly the dinner selections. Coconuts need to be trimmed from the trees as they pose a hazard.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: amazing property, very comfortable apartments, beautiful views, great food, amazing stuff
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Interior design was in great taste. Las Palmas was like a little community, everyone was so friendly. The pools, the oceans, and the breezes were amazing. The breakfast was good. We’re definitely coming back!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Pretty much everything.
Cons: I would put a little bit of effort on the food.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location. Room. Staff. Attention to detail. All great.
Cons: Couldn’t stay longer. Other plans. ☹️
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Extremely perfect restaurants and a nice atmosphere in the evening with live music. Rooms and the whole place is a paradise
Good 7.0
Pros: Great breakfasts on our patio and on the beach! Best location in Zihua right on La Ropa Beach!
Cons: Disappointed in the pricing; the reason being that I was given a price by Booking.com for 7 nights and then got there and was told that we were getting 2 nights free. However, it appears that the price per night was increased to cover the 2 free nights, so basically it was a wash. (Yes, original quote had all the add on taxes, etc.) Also, when we arrived Thompson had no record of our reservation and I had a confirmation from Booking.com with confirmation number. Had it been busier, we could have been out of luck! We had to wait 2.5 hours for our room and found out later it was a maintenance issue but we were never told that. Just, "5 more minutes", "It's almost ready".....numerous times.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great location on the best section of the beach
Cons: Food quality is poor and also expensive relative to the other options available, even compared to the other higher end options.
Good 7.9
Pros: Beautiful property and an excellent location Very proficient staff
Cons: We felt like it was way way overpriced! And we had friends staying in zihuatanejo and they came over for a visit. They were told they had to pay $100 per person per day just to spend a day at the beach with us! Then they made me sign a waiver in case they trashed the place. Poor business practice! They should be pampering us and them so they might consider staying there sometime! We will never go back after that. I hope the powers that be read this. I don’t blame the staff, they are just doing as they are told.

Good 7.0
Pros: Room was clean. Staff were friendly, but minimal English..
Cons: Shower door was hard to close all the way so bathroom floor would get wet when I showered. Would be nice to have a small fridge in the room..
Poor 1.0
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Dad was like a rock. No bottled water in the room. Weak air conditioning left the room hot. No attendee at the front desk at 8:15 a.m. to resolve problems.
Good 7.0
Pros: The pool and the very kind folks working there.
Cons: The mattress was too hard for me and they wouldn’t give me any extras pillows.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I love it's so close to La Ropa beach where I spend my days. I love the refreshing pool, the friendly family ownership, it's safe, comfortable, affordable and a perfect place for me to transition when I arrive in Mexico and before I leave. I've stayed here several times and will return. Everyone at the hotel is super welcoming and kind.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Hotel JB is not the Ritz and does not pretend to be - Hotel JB is a basic hotel - within easy walking distance to Playa La Ropa. The room was comfortable, the pool clean and relaxing, the surroundings safe and secure, a mix of good patrons and excellent staff.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: One of the best locations on the beach.
Cons: Only serves beer in a cup and only serves draught beer, plus it is expensive. Only two brands of beer served.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We always stay here because the location is great for the price.
Cons: There was alot of noise from construction repair to concrete. Pounding, cutting, etc. Seemed odd to do this during Christmas week.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Breakfast was good but pricing was a little confusing because a free breakfast does not include everything and you are charged for some certain items without knowing which is which.
Cons: Difficult to get change at reception for large bills
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Lady front desk very serious person
Cons: Very slow check in
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent location and very clean! Needs a few updates but I expected that from other reviewers. Great value for money. Really nice restaurant and taxis right outside when needed. Felt safe at all times. We walked in and out of town and to other beaches and restaurants very easily at all different times of the day and up until 10 pm or so.. I would go back there in a heartbeat!
Cons: beds and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The sink and TV in our room had issues but we didn't even ask to fix them. We didn't care that much as we were only in our room to sleep. And the lock on our door was hard to manage but again we just figured it out. Oh and I wish they had a fridge. So really small things considering the price. And we didn't ask them to fix anything. One day our toilet didn't flush and they were in the room in 5 minutes!!
Good 7.5
Pros: Location is on the beach. There are restaurants within walking distance. TV has some Canadian & American channels. Not overcrowded. La Ropa beach is beautiful.
Cons: There is no refrigerator, so you must rely on the restaurants. No place to keep drinks, etc. only stairs to get to the second level. No recycling. No drawers for garments.in room Wifi is not very good.
Good 7.9
Pros: Staff Restaurant
Cons: No small towels provided?!the shower is dangerous because there aren’t any railings to hold on too ! It’s an accident ready to happen!

Pros: Beach and pool access.
Cons: I did not like only having the option on Booking.com to book a room that included $40 extra per day for alcoholic drinks. I wanted an option with no extra charges other than the room. Also, I was not able to contact the hotel through Booking.com when our plans changed.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Several pools available depending on what you were looking for. Staff were very accommodating. My only suggestion would be is to get up early and reserve a lounge chair as they are somewhat limited.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We have been staying at Villa Mexicana for over fifteen years. And this year it just seemed exceptionally good. The front desk staff lead by Eloisa is incredible and very helpful. The restaurant was good; both food and staff. And our room was delightful. It is obvious that the owners/management of the hotel have been making some improvements to the property. So far, so good! Just don't make too many changes! A very enjoyable long vacation.
Cons: Frankly, this year I do not have any negative comments. Seriously, all good.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful section of the beach away from the noise of Zihua.
Cons: Staff spoke very little English. Room windows and doors had been left open allowing mosquitoes to come into the rooms. Staff was kind enough to light some citronella.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The small hotel is beautiful, comfortable with lots of style. The pool is extremely clean and very nice.
Cons: The description does NOT tell you that the hotel restaurant is NOT open for dinner. You are on your own. This is a VERY remote location and the 'local' beach vendors close at 6 or 630. There is a good and pricey (for Mexico) restaurant in the hotel next door, but you need to be ready to pay that price. The chef in the restaurant next door was great. At Casa Kaukan we thought the marlin ceviche was good however the fish tacos were awful and we did not eat them. The staff didn't care, didn't ask (although they don't speak English) and there was no recourse. Oh well. The food is pricey too. They offer generic toast and coffee for breakfast and a PRICEY menu. I think they should offer more complimentary. I was disappointed at that. The beach establishments 0.5 km down the beach at the public access offer VERY reasonably priced and large filling breakfasts and lunch menus. We really enjoyed those. The taxi ride/fare was not usual, as it is in Zihua but could be. When asked to call a taxi the main manager called this tour taxi in a giant SUV, instead of the 'regular' Zihua - Ixtapa white sedan taxi. Another person on the premises had called the 'regular' taxi for another customer but we were not so lucky. Consequently, it cost us more to ride into Zihua to get dinner (they don't serve dinner and its expensive at the neighboring restaurant). Its turns out to be a taxi racket. In US its not that much more but it does leave the customer with a touch of a BAD feeling. I run an Airbnb and I want my customers to feel great and well treated when they leave. I really like Casa Kaukan especially the attention to detail the owners put into the establishment. It seems like the management ONLY need to really change their customer service. It would really help if the main manager spoke a spec of English as it is so close to Zihua with international visitors would be a good move.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Very quiet.
Cons: Eating situation is frustrating. Dinner is not served after 4pm. Restaurants a walk down the beach close at 6pm. A ways from anything(store/bars)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Situated on gorgeous Playa Blanca, the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Our ocean front room was very large, and beautifully appointed. The bathroom was vey adequate with a large walk in shower. We had plenty of hot water in the shower. WiFi worked well. The lap pool is large enough to swim, very clean with good chaises to chill. We loved the peace and quiet at Casat Kau Kan, not missing Television or Hairdryer.
Cons: Not just at this property, of eating in general at Playa Larga. Breakfast isn’t available anywhere before 9 and Coffee other tan instant is hard to find. Almost Restaurants close at 6mp.
Good 7.5
Pros: Beautiful location, great for families, staff was lovely and nice big rooms
Cons: No wifi, no dinner being served
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Location. Great secluded beachfront hotel next to a full service boutique hotel.
Cons: Could have an a better breakfast spread.
Excellent 8.8
Cons: Everything was great

Okay 5.4
Pros: Spending time away from the hotel.
Cons: Did not like the facility; it looks outdated, the shower leaked to the restroom, the bed was lumpy and the hotel's amneties charge was exesive for what we got. Ran out of water and they did not replenish. There was a pile of feces going down the stairs to the beach, been here almost a week and it is still there. The air conditioner made a ticking noise.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: My stay was short but wonderfull
Cons: Location
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The staff are all friendly, hardworking and are very helpful. The rooms are very nice, the pool is awesome and the view is the best in Madera! Front desk manager,Gerardo,is a gentleman and offers local tips on dining and recreation.Overall,a most satisfying and felaxing stay.
Good 7.9
Pros: Great location on the beach. Nice pool to cool off in. Balconies are perfect to watch the sunsets.
Cons: Could do with some more pool recliners.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Sunrise and sunset.
Cons: I was aware of voices next door as well as within the pool area.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great location and excellent, helpful and informative staff, some of whom had very good English. The Included breakfast was made to order and delicious (though sadly the coffee was a bit weak). This place is just a few steps from the waterfront.
Cons: No gripes really.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very lovely staff. Enjoyed the included breakfast and the choices provided. Great location, lovely pool and rooftop restaurant with a view.
Cons: I was disappointed that the guests here were not allowed to use the staircase to the beach at the co- managed hotel across the street. I stayed at the ZihuaCaracol 6 years ago and that was why I chose to return. Previously we had access to the staircase, as a single woman traveling it was a safer way to reach the beach. The main access near another hotel often had inebriated males hanging around. I didn't enjoy walking through them to get to the beach.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Very friendly/helpful staff Exceptionally clean Great water pressure in shower Good AC Perfect location/within walking distance from everything
Cons: Could use some upgrading, everything is old. Beds/pillows not very comfortable. Fan in addition to AC would be nice. Window screens would be nice as the mosquitoes were pretty bad.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Super friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Room was large. Beds and pillows were good for Mexico standards. Clean place. Pool area was nice and usually quite during the week. Weekends were busier when locals came but they were quite by 10 pm. If you tip your maid everyday (like you should) you got extra little special details.
Cons: Owner has a big dog (rotti I believe) that he lets roam in the back enclosed area (security reasons I am thinking) at night but the dang thing barks a lot and upset most of the guests. Other then the dog issue it’s a great little hotel to rest your head.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We really enjoyed the variety of different options for breakfast and the service was excellent and so was the food.
Cons: We would have appreciated a fan in Room 00 Sun and Moon in the lilving/kitchen area.... the bedroom/bathroom was just great withe the A/C.
Okay 4.0
Pros: Pretty basic. Breakfast is same no matter what you order on al a carte menu. Water available is nice feature
Cons: I sent a note to property requesting early check-in. They indicated yes if room was available. I arrived 3 hours ahead at which time I checked-in but they said my room was not ready. But they said feel free to use facilities....so I did and had a look around including finding that maid had just finished my room. All ready complete with goose towel on bed. Back to front desk to let them know my room was ready only to find that “this isn’t our policy “? Excuse me you said “I could check in early if room ready and it’s ready”....”oh but that’s not our policy , you can leave your bags here at desk”.......I noticed the manager, this rude lady apppeared to give me the DONT talk to me hand when I tried to talk to her. She mentioned something to desk clerk before disappearing in her office. At this point clerk turns to me and says “senior we will try to accommodate you “.....”oh ok”.......20 minutes go by with me staring at this guy. “So sir is everything ok? Can I go up?”...”excuse me senior ? What do you mean?”....”can I have the key to my room?” ....o no senior you have to wait until 3.” ...”what you said you were going to accommodate me, why did you make me wait ?” “O the manager she says no” So there we sat by pool , myself a family and another couple for 3 hours before they handed us keys even though all our rooms were ready. In that time we may have seen 10 people in this very tired hotel.manager is confrontational rude and hostile . Go to Irma across street. Don’t waste your time.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The staff are so amazing and accommodating. We arrived too early for check in and they stored our bags and gave us an area to change into beachwear. The breakfast every morning was delicious! In the 8 days we were here we only ate breakfast off property once. The rooms are clean with great views!
Cons: The beds are hard and the rooms could use a little deep cleaning, the curtains needed a good washing. But the bed linens were changed daily and clean. The dinner restaurant at the hotel was just ok. There are a lot of better food options very close.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The accessibility to the beach and the location
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good central location
Cons: The room given was dark with no view to the garden as advertised and in need of some repair-maintenance.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything.
Good 7.0
Pros: Great value in short notice! The staff was very attentive and friendly
Cons: It was older and a little run down. Didn’t match my expectations based off the pictures on the listing. Also, 2 of the 3 rooms I booked were across the street, as the property is 2 separate buildings. That was a little misleading as well since I was expecting more of a “beachfront” vibe as depicted in the listing pictures.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Near the beach.
Cons: No coffee in the room.
Good 6.0
Pros: This hotel is very basic, not much luxury on it, no tv on the room, the view on the ocean view rooms is not that good. Too far from the beach. Service was ok, no more than that.
Excellent 9.0
Cons: Close to the beach and down town. The staff super friendly. Nice and quiet.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great view on the beach and location to town..great boutique hotel with friendly staff
Cons: Noisy aircondioner and bed was uncomfortable.
