Great way to experience a temple stay. It’s very close to the cemetery which I think was the most beautiful in Koyasan.
It was very cold in the temple but apparently monks live this way so we just have to get on with it. Bring warm clothes.
What an amazing experience! It's nice to be guests at this temple. We enjoyed the experience very much. The traditional japanese dinner was lovely. It was a great insight into the life of a buddhist monk in Japan. This was never meant to be a luxurious stay, but I found the beds comfortable, the staff welcoming and the hospitality wonderful. I enjoyed the onsen downstairs and it was acceptable to have tattoos, which was a nice surprise.
The location it's very near to the graveyard. The sento (public bath) it's a nice experience.
It feels a little touristy and not very spiritual. Like a tematic hotel. The food (yet it's the typical food) it's not very tasty and not for every paladar. The ceremony was ok but it feels like the monks are forced to share ir with the guests and it's not a smooth feeling.
A unique experience and one I'm glad I did. Loved the traditional rooms, worked out great value I thought with dinner and breakfast included.
Very cold, had to keep the heaters on all the time.
