Riad Zara

It's in the old town, so it's not going to be a super modern, upscale Riad. But what we found was in the middle of all the hustle of Marrakesh, a beautiful Riad, with great views on the roof, and Monique was wonderful. She helped us with some customs that we should employ whilst in the town, she informed us the best places to go, whether or not to buy certain tickets, nice places to see that are not on the map and we really enjoyed her hospitality. The Riad is not on the main street, but after you pass the front door, you can't believe what an amazing place is hidden just a couple of streets away. Also, in the area, there is a road to the main square and you can eat street food every couple of meters, I would recommend that rather than going to the main square and unfortunately to say, getting ripped off by people doubling the prices after you've eaten. The next night we ate street food and it was just a couple of euros for full bellies and really a good experience. I liked that her place took us through those streets, cause I want an authentic experience. I don't want to be in a rich posh hotel when Marrakesh is nothing like that in reality. I want to see the real city. So Riad Zara was perfect for that.

The breakfast was a little expensive. But I'm not going to complain about it that much because it was really delicious. It was still great and we ate everything anyway! That pretty much was the only thing I could think of.

Monique is a fantastic host, the facility was clean and comfortable, and the sooks are a fairly close walk, but you may get happily lost several times trying to find them!

It was quite difficult to find, and our driver didn't show up at the airport to take us, so we were somewhat at the mercy of our taxi driver and the guy he found at the square to lead us to the door. It worked out, but at one point when we were surrounded in a dead end by 4 bug guys, we were fairly certain we were about to be robbed.

The riad is just beautiful. Our room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. And Monique is the kindest host. I spent my birthday there and left with a thoughtful gift and joyful memories. Thanks again!

The riad is within the Medina, but a bit far from the main square.

Excellent hospitality from the very friendly people at the Riad Zara. Breakfast was fantastic, as were the beautiful rooms. Can totally recommend going there if you want a friendly and beautiful place to stay in Marrakech.
