The private Onsen are amazing and free of charge. The dinner consisted of several courses with many attention to details. Everything we had was excellent, especially the home made Soba noodles are great (best ones we had in Japan)! The japanese style rooms are quite spacious and very clean. Although the hotel is a bit older, everything is in a very good condition.
The WiFi connection is bad. Especially in the room.
Friendly staff and cosy environment. Nice & sumptuous dinner & breakfast. There is an evening free cultural performance at the hotel. Onsen was great too!
Located in an Onsen area, so be prepared for little or no evening activities. But there's a convenient store just around the corner. Need transport to city or tourist attractions. The trade-off for a nice quiet night.
Elaborate Japanese breakfast... Private hot tub rooms... My limited Japanese language skills were not an issue, but much staff spoke little English
The hotel staff were so lovely and welcoming. We were greeted with tea and cake on arrival. We had a great check in experience, they explained everything very well and spoke good English. Our room was set up with a couple of tatami seats first and they made our beds during dinner. The private onsen was amazing (you can book it on arrival, it’s free to use for 40 minutes and it’s 500 yen for extra 30 minutes) - the view of Matsumoto downtown at night was stunning. Our traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were such an amazing experience - we were sat in a private dining area and the dinner had three courses with around 15 different little dishes on the table! We will definitely stay here again if we are ever back in Matsumoto. In terms of location, it was easy to get to/from the hotel from/to Matsumoto train station - a direct bus was around 300 yen and taxi was around 2,200 yen.
The food provided was excellent both breakfast and dinner. The western bed and futons were hard but after asking for three futon beds it was quite comfortable. The staff were very polite and helpful and the hot spring spa was relaxing.
Hard beds and pillows
