Not the hotels fault, but very limited taxis. Book early if you are going for a wedding. (Hotel were helpful with taxi numbers)

Steve the manager was the main reason for such high scores. There was a large group of us and he could not do enough to make our stay more enjoyable. All staff were polite and attentive, the rooms and bar area were clean.
There are not many major taxi companies who operate in the area meaning if you require car transport try to book well in advance. We stayed as we had a wedding reception at Brinckburn priory. Again Steve provided me with numbers to organise this as he knew it could be difficult.

Excellent location for visiting Cragside and as a stop off point for travelling further north. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly. Although this is an old hotel it has character and historical interest. The staff have done their best to work within the limitations of the building to make their guests stay as comfortable as possible. In fact I had the best nights sleep there in the whole of our 2 week trip!!
