This place was a serious disappointment. We booked rooms for two nights well in advance for four couples (ie 8 people) with historic cars as part of our driving tour of Asturias. Our hosts were expecting 10 people, so their maths differed from ours! This hotel is a nightmare to find and it was dusk by the time we eventually located it. Challenging roads delight us and do not usually daunt us, and we are familiar with map-reading. However the online description regarding access is economical: “sloping“ is an understatement: the road is very steep, in appalling condition, narrow, winding, and with a sharp hairpin which required several attempts to negotiate. Exhausted on arriving at last, guests must then tackle 59 steps to get from the car park to reception, so this place is completely unsuitable for anyone with even mild mobility issues. There were then more many more steps within the property. Alternative accommodation in Oviedo town had to be arranged for one of our couples. We were further shocked to discover on arrival that there was no food available, despite the fact that the hotel sign outside features the word “restaurant“ and online indications claimed there was a cafe and dining room. The bar closed at 10 pm. Rather than tackle the dreadful approach road again in the dark, our party was obliged to order by telephone pizzas to be delivered by taxi to the hotel. The breakfast on the first morning was significant for its poor quality. There were only three croissants for 8 guests (yet our hosts were expecting 10 of us!). Worse was to follow as the hosts had failed to go shopping and there were no croissants at all for the second morning’s breakfast. It was generally agreed by our party that the breakfast at this place was very shabby and we were treated poorly. This was the only hotel on our tour which failed to meet our expectations.
Casa Camila is pretty and a great place to stay if you are looking for a retreat. The rooms are spacious, clean and the views are lovely. Breakfast is good and the breakfast room has gorgeous views. The grounds are well-kept and a natural haven.
It's 20 minutes by car from Oviedo and there's nothing around--no restaurants, bars or shops. It's remote and up in the mountains. If you are looking for a place for quiet rest, contemplation and relaxation, it's lovely. BUT it's not a great place to stay if you want to spend the bulk of your time in Oviedo. Also, breakfast is served from 7 - 10 am and there is NO FOOD available otherwise on the property and nothing nearby. Don't stay here if you don't have a car and/or if you want to hang out a lot in Oviedo.
Great location with fabulous view.
Great location a long way from town. Long hilly walk or drive. It’s not a dislike just an observation.
The staff at Casa Camilla were very friendly and helpful. Excellent views over Oviedo. Breakfast was good and room as expected. If possible contact hotel for directions, sat nav doesn't provide the best rout.
Location means an amazing and unbelievable view of Oviedo. Getting there isn't that hard as it may seem for the first time. Breakfast (even if we didn't ask for it in advance) was great, nice piano music was playing in the background. Wifi is available everywhere! They also have a beautiful veranda with a couch and chairs, books and lightning. Last but not least, the owner is an incredibly nice, helpful and kind gentleman!
