Cons: Overall the hotel is in need of a makeover. The rooms and fixtures are old and in need of replacement especially the bathrooms which are very poor. My bowl was faulty and had to be fixed, the safe was locked and despite 3 calls to reception it never got opened. I am surprised at the 4* rating I am sure this is incorrect based on my experiences of hotel star ratings. The lobby area bar was OK but smoking was a problem for me, so I did not like to use. The restaurant was OK with a choice of Western foods as well as Asian, but the presentation lacked what you would expect from a 4* Hotel. Actually the hotel does not have access to the beach directly and there is a construction site between the beach and the hotel which is an eysore.

Cons: The food is really horrible, even Asian specials.. don’t even try to take a breakfast for take away before morning ferry, it’s dry toast bread with one little jam on the side.. the buffet looks ok but what they pack is a joke.

The room is big enough, bigger than average Ibis in Europe. Children are very welcome, and the swimming pool is a remedy for a hot sunny day in Padang.

Pros: Our stay in Aramis hotel was just one night since were leaving padang to another city the next day. Although we had a short stay, ot was really convinient with comfortable bed, clean, conviniet and hot shower! The staff was really polite and friendly. We arrived in the evening and had booked for a superior room. I asked them if they can give us a room located in a higher floor and they upgraded our room to the last floor free of charge!  The breakfast was a bit limited specially if you're looking for non-local breakfast. However, it was nice in my opinion. All in all we enjoyed our stay here and it was worth the price we paid.

One more issue is your remote TV really not function when I tried to shut off but the power button not working well and also your air-cond. Think when your customers slept without air-cond but the air-cond is ON. Pls ensure all this thingy resolved

Pros: The hospitality and the helpful staff. The staff even offer help to keep my luggage for 2 days in the hotel because I am going for motorbike ride from Padang to Bukittinggi.

Cons: There was no reply from the hotel team upon asking them whether was there any airport transfer from Padang Airport to the hotel.

Pros: Spacious and quiet room, nice pool area. Friendly and helpful staff. Big convenience store next to the entrance, close to the local markets.

Cons: Sometimes there was a language barrier; not all the staff mastered the English language. Some flooding in the shower and tidiness of the bathroom could be just a bit better. (Also, we had to ask for toilet paper multiple times, it even wasn’t replaced when the roll was finished before cleaning the room). We are two women and felt uncomfortable in bikinis at the pool. Obviously this has to do with the people staying in the hotel at this particular moment, not the hotel staff. Still, it’s good to know it’s also a conference venue, so some men attending the conferences would come to the pool area for a smoke. We were the only western-looking people in the hotel at this moment and felt watched at when we were at the pool. People (both guests and people from the conferences) were trying to take pictures of us in bikinis. Obviously annoying, intimidating and uncomfortable.

Cons: Check in and check out time was too long. Very slow service at front desk. If you open by CC, they will return the remaining deposit by cash instead return it to CC limit. Quite strange for business trip like me. The food choicesnis very limited. Egg station wasn't ready when when breakfast resto opened.

Pros: The room was comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful (Indonesians I've come across are generally very courteous and polite). Good location within the city. Very spacious lobby.

Cons: Room service and lobby cafe orders were on cash payment. The room door locking mechanism had issues and i was locked out twice with the card not working. The door didn't have the chain safety lock (seems it was broken and never replaced). There were serious issues with hot water in the shower. The minibar was empty. I had to call room service even for a can of Sprite (on cash payment). Lighting also needs improvement. The room and the bathroom were not well-lit as there weren't enough lights. (This seems like a problem in all hotels in Indonesia). Breakfast was the worst part of the stay. Only three items were non-local: Coffee, cereal and omelette (badly made). Everything else was local and more suited to lunch or dinner. English is not very common. Except for the reception staff, who could communicate fairly well, I faced language problem with the bell boy, room service, door lock fixer boy and with taxi drivers in general. But to be fair, they would all use their translation app and try and communicate as much as they can.

Pros: We had to spend a night in Padang before flying back to Australia, and stayed at Rocky Plaza. it was very comfortable. Our room was spacious with a very comfy king-size bed and good sized bathroom with plenty of hot water in the shower. Toilet and wash basin very clean. Flat screen TV worked very well. The staff at reception (especially Ezzie) were very friendly. They helped us print our boarding passes for our flights and arranged a taxi to the airport (it took about 40 minutes and cost Rp.100,000). The buffet breakfast was awesome - tropical fruits, yogurt, cereal, but best of all was the Indonesian menu, including some of my favourites such as black rice pudding, kacang hijau, lontong with spicy curry and beef rendang. Outside the front of the hotel in the evening there are hundreds of stalls selling hot food snacks, clothes, shoes, etc. etc. plus a couple of good Padang restaurants. The swimming pool was clean, not so big (maybe 20 - 25 metres long) but good enough to cool down during the heat of the day.

Pros: Booked room with double twin bed for 2 adults and 2 little children. Beds were big enough. Room space was ok. Got a discount rate, full price would be rather expensive. We had a nice stay, helpfull staff. Location not on walking distance from the beach, but 5 minutes drive. Location was near a shopping street/the market. I am an experienced traveler in Indonesia and recommend this hotel, value for money.

Cons: Staff was rather slow with everything, like they were not very experienced. But they did everything ok. Just for additional info : some local people believe the some souls of victims of the 2009 Padang Earthquack are still haunting in this hotel. If my wife (who is Indonesian) had known this, she would not have stayed here.

Pros: Julius and his staff were great hosts. He always used to say “it’s possible”, so he made our stay very memorable. Rooms are hotel-like and location is good. You can rent bikes for a decent price and explore the surrounding. Julius is Open minded and has a lot of ideas where to go and what to do. He is the best host!

Cons: Only negative is that some extra rooms were being built next to us (we were at the entrance) during our stay so it was noisy from 5:30 am and we could smell the ciggarete smoke (the construction workers). But the owner was very nice and moved us to a different building across the road with comfy new rooms, complete with keycard access.

Pros: Location : The location of the hotel is not really central in the city centre. But it is located somehow central to 3 most popular attractions in the city. It is located within walking distance to Museum Adityawarman, Padang Beach and Siti Nurbaya Bridge. The area is also full of cheap eateries and affordable motorcycle rentals. When I arrived in Padang Station, I booked a GoJek motor ride to the hostel. it is easy and can be seen from the main road. Reception : The lady that was doing my checking in is very calm and soft spoken. She helped me thru all the check in process smoothly and asked another guest who is trying to cut my line to be patient. She handled the ruthless customer nicely. She is not just helpful, she smiles a lot and offered me all her help on discovering Padang. The evening came when I realised I am in need of my shirts ironed and groomed for Saturday. So I asked the reception if I can borrow an iron. She stunned me with her kindness and offered to iron all my shirts and shorts for free (they are available the next morning). The second reception lady that I know of is the lady which is thin and has a very snail-tie hair. She also smiled a lot and she suggested me where to get my Iced Milo around 12.30am. Haha. Room : I booked a budget room for single stay. I got exactly what I paid for. It is simple, one bed, small floor, small table and ceiling fan. It is comfortable and provided me with excellent night sleep. Actually the empty space inside the room is large enough for someone or 2 person to sleep on the floor, so thats how big it is.

Cons: Bathroom : It is a shared bathroom. The bathroom is very clean and spacious. Only the water pressure is a bit of a problem. But the cleanliness of the bathroom is top notch. The cleaners working in the hostel are also often seen near my floor where the bathroom is, I guess that what makes the bathroom spotless. Hospitality and Service : The receptions hospitality and service cant be doubted even for a second. They love their jobs and they appreciate every single suggestions and comments given. They interact with customers eagerly and magnificently gave everyone a very good service. Praise to them. When I lodged a complaint that I have not received a towel, the receptionists and the owner of the hotel responded to me apologetically and swiftly. Well, a towel arrived after 2 mins, maybe they forgot to put it when they are cleaning the place. Breakfast : Breakfast is served in the lobby right in front of the reception. The area is windy and cozy. the food variety is excellent for a hotel of its size. The free flow juice and cereal are amazing. And the fried rice taste good as well. I am so full during my 3 days stay there. The reception, waiter and owner are all in the reception lounge serving hard to make the customers happy. Excellent combos. My only complaint is, the area is open for smokers. I had to go out a couple of times to avoid smokers pumping the smoke next to my table. And I am quite afraid to ask them to put away their cigarettes. I sincerely said this to the owner, please consider making the breakfast area (although it is an open air area) to be smoke free. Ask smokers to walk to the outside gate. Satisfaction : I am really satisfied with my stay here. The room, the bathroom, breakfast, staff and owners are amazing. Recommendations : Nothing. I will suggest this hotel for other travellers. You have to stay here and experience their kind hospitality. Give it a go. You wont be disappointed. If I ever go to Padang again, I will definitely stay here again.

Pros: They had water dispenser what was a big plus. The location, close to everything. The laundry service was efficient. For breakfast we could use the toaster so we made some cheese sandwiches. And we could put our things to the fridge.

Cons: We woke up every day early because of a nearby mosque or speaker what made noise. The room was quiet small for the people. Even its written on booking, you cant pay by credit card or any card.
