The Portinari Hotel is well located just off Copacabana beach. The staff were helpful.
The rooms were dirty and in need of a good clean and repaint. The price is exorbitantly expensive and does not offer good value for money. The gym/sauna/jacuzzi area is appalling and not fit for use. There was a constant unpleasant toilet smell in the hotel. The hotel was so dirty that we did not chance eating breakfast there even though we had paid for it! It is unfortunate because this hotel could potentially be a great boutique-style hotel in a popular tourist area.
Absolutely nothing! Definitely not a design hotel!
The standard was way below average (not a 5* hotel as advertized!). The staff were ignorant and not helpful. The gym was out of order, all equipment had rust/broken cables. There was a septic smell throughout the hotel. The staff at breakfast were sweating on top of the buffet. There were ants in the food. There is no emergency lighting in the emergency exit! Staff are profiting by fixing the prices for tourist attractions/airport transfers with taxi drivers.
The bottom 4 floors are extreamly NOISEYat night and sleep is there for very difficult
The rooms were very nice, well appointed and clean however ther ewas a lot of traffic noise in the lower levels. We stayed on the second level in a suite the first night but had to move the following night because of the noise. We moved to the eighth floor which was much quieter
Nice staff, big room, nice breakfast buffet
Cleanness was not so good
The freindliness of the staff and the excellant service
nothing.doesn't deserve 5 stars.should be 2 or 3
first of all there is no need to use the word "design" in the name of the hotel.we stayed in the executive suit and doesn't look any different from a 3-star hotel's room. there is no room service after 11pm.and all of the things in the minibar was at least 1-2 year old, even the pepsi!
The hotel is very well situated within walking distance of both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches which is very practical.
The hotel is old and could do with a good modernisation. The rooms appear much nicer on the website that actually are. Curtains were half hanging and could not even be closed. It is also rather noisy.
