Pros: Beautiful room....beautiful setting....stunning views.....gorgeous breakfast and very nice staff. Thanks to our hostess for all the advice on where to eat and where to go....made our last couple of days in Rio extra special.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Perfect location in a lovely colorful neighborhood. Adriana and the staff are incredibly friendly. The room felt like home. Well picked furniture in the entire place which gives this location a special and authentic atmosphere. Adriana provided helpful recommendations and it was just lovely chatting with her. Would always come back!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Gerthrudes is just amazing! The location is great, rooms are so clean and comfortable, staff are lovely and friendly and the breakfasts superb. Adriana is an amazing host who goes out of her way to ensure you have a wonderful time. We didnt want to leave!!! Thank you for making our trip to Brazil so memorable
Cons: Nothing!!!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Gerthrudes B&B is somewhat of a misnomer- it should read Adriana’s Boutique B&B. It is a calming, beautiful oasis within the hustle and bustle of inner Rio. My room was spacious, nicely decorated, had a quality bathroom and opened up to a lush garden/pool view. There is a great, common lounge with spectacular views to Central Rio and Sugarloaf Mountain. The buffet breakfast was delicious and included some special treats. Adriana is a delightful host and takes great pride in providing guests with a memorable stay. The location itself, Santa Teresa, is an inner, medium-density hillside area (as distinct from the lower level high-rise developments) and has a distinct bohemian character.
Cons: Nothing that I disliked but a warning to the less mobile. For those without a private car, there are two ways to access the B&B - a steep 800-metre walk up from Gloria metro station on rough cobble stones. Alternatively, carry a mobile phone and call a very cheap ride-share service.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. The views are amazing and the staff was very welcoming! I wish I could have stayed longer
Cons: I would have booked the room on the top, first floor. There are many stairs and also our room was next the dining room and the pool. Convenient but a bit loud.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything are perfect , Adriana is a nice host who is so true and warm . She give me many advices and surprise !
Excellent 10.0
Pros: You will feel home immediately. The whole property looks amazing and it has a fancy vibe. Rooms are clean. Staff will take care of you. Tasty breakfast, good organized. Fantastic view and nice pool area. Staff knows how to run a B&B. Vielen dank!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This property is super well decorated and has many cozy areas to hang out or read a book while marveling at its beautiful view. Everything is very clean, organized and the breakfast was delicious. Location was perfect for what we needed: quiet, yet close to the main tourist attractions. In addition, Santa Barbara is an area filled with trendy bars and restaurants as well as cute boutique shops to explore. Very bohemian. Last but not least, the hostess and her team were very attentive and kind. (Suggestion: play some bossa nova or MPB during breakfast, it will add to the amazing feeling of being back in Rio’s golden age days)
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Very nicely decorated house. Outstanding view from the terrace. Good breakfast. Adriana was very helpful. Location close to Santa Teresa point of interests and by taxi to other places.
Cons: Room upstairs was much nicer than room downstairs.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely place in Santa Theresa. Every morning a tasty breakfast with a view over Rio. Adriana and Flavia are great hosts!

Pros: Everything was perfect : Owners & staff really nice, helpful and trying to make us feel like home, the accommodation and swimming pool were amazing with the best panoramic view of the city, rooms are well decorated and really user friendly, and the top of the top was the breakfast! Everyday a bit different, the small details really made the difference. Book it without any hesitation.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The property situated in a very trendy kind of alternative area of Rio which adds some charm to the mansion converted into hotel. It was a pleasure to enjoy the neighbourhood with an advise of the owners and also the facilities of the hotel. It is very stylish hotel with its own charm, morning breakfasts were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place for someone who wants to experience Rio besides Ipanema and copacabana.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Only 5 bedrooms. Perfectly looked after by delightful owners. Best breakfast made freshly with the freshest ingredients. Nothing too much trouble in a great position near central Rio with breathtaking views. Hotel security first rate and lovely staff.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: This guest house is beautiful, quiet and with a relaxing swimming pool. The hosts and the staff are very nice and friendly people who make your stay as lovely and warm as they can. The breakfast is delicious: homemade food, amazing fruits and juice ; the table service is very beautiful and the presentation/decoration with a lot of attention. It is a wonderful place to stay if you want to have peace and relax time.

Pros: Casa Geranio is stunning, it is a stylish haven of tranquility in a great location. Claudio and Gabriel are so kind, genuine and helpful. The delicious breakfast is served with an exquisite attention to detail and was a feast for the eyes as well as the palette. We are already looking at when we can return.

Pros: Lovely, quiet location within walking distance of Santa Teresa and Lapa. Lovely breakfast. Fantastic hospitality. Beautiful house and garden.
Cons: One room has a bathroom which is private but you have to walk down a small public corridor to access it, which wasn’t clear at the time of booking. Ceiling fan in our room was very squeaky.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Maybe my best stay at an airbnb yet.
Cons: all was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Such a beautiful mansion with a beautiful garden. And the hosts are super great and friendly. Everything is so neat and cozy. Staying at this place made our trip to Rio just perfect.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: More quiet location, still very well connected but with a more authentic feel. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff very helpful. There’s a lot to do in the area and the house itself is extremely cozy.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Charming guesthouse located in the characterful neighbourhood of Santa Teresa. If you are umming and ah-ing about whether to stay in Santa Teresa or by the beaches, I would highly recommend staying around Santa Teresa. The area, which is much more “local”, is full of fun, casual bars and restaurants and is safe to walk around. The guesthouse is a beautiful old colonial style villa, with antiques spread throughout the house like a museum. It was spotless and completely tidy and clean. The bed was extremely comfy and the sheets were evidently of a high thread count. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and make you feel at home. They are always on hand to offer tips and were very welcoming. Breakfast is bountiful and includes delicious fresh smoothies. Right around the corner is a fantastic local bar, which does live music on Mondays and Fridays. Everyone sits outside on plastic chairs and there is a very enjoyable atmosphere. The caipirinhas are also excellent. It was our favourite bar in Rio.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wondeful Guesthouse in the heart of Santa Teresa. Lovely house from 1930, beautifully furnitured and decorated as well as great pieces of art. Guido is a great host with great tips for exploring the area. The Breakfast was freshly made every morning and we could enjoy it in the green, beautiful garden. Fresh juice, eggs, bread, sweets and many more for evry taste. Furthermore it is a good location close by to great restaurants and nice neighbours. I would defintely recommend Guesthouse Bianca when your visiting Rio de Janeiro and would always come back :) Thanks again for having us.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: our stay was just perfect! we felt very welcomed, almost like home. the owners were super friendly and sympathetic. Lovely house, detailed and nice interior, and a delicious breakfast on top of it! We would definitely go back again!
Excellent 9.5
Pros: This is a lovely pousada, truly one of our favorites in Brasil. The rooms are super nice and clean. They have a big living area for everyone to use. The breakfast is amazing. The owners are great with some very helpful advises. Our flight was in the evening and they let us check out late, so that we can take a shower before leaving. The dog is cute and well behaved, and not allowed upstairs, which I liked very much. I would always go back!
Cons: the area is nice and they have some great restaurants, but depending on what you are planning, it might also be a bit inconvenient from time to time. Plan with time, in order to get to all the major spots (apart from Santa Theresa).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was really fine. Guesthouse is in a perfect location with an amazing panorama on the city. The room is really clear, and big. The hosts (Guido and Francisco) were really kind and helpful- they do speak multiple languages perfectly so as English, Spanish, and French. I encourage all the people who want’s to spend time in a beautiful and silent relaxing place, to do not hesitate, and book a room in Guesthouse Bianca!!!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic property essentials, great hosts snd easy with uber or metro to any of the beaches. Near some funky restaurants.

Pros: Excellent hosts! They helped me with whatever I needed and suggested things to do that I wouldn't have known about. Very friendly and comfortable--I will definitely stay there again if I'm back in Rio.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Warm welcome, lovely room and setting, very helpful guidance on what to do and see. Plus the breakfast is great! and the location something special.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff, the location, the charm of the place. From the first email enquiry through to the drop off at the airport, everyone there is happy and keen to make sure your arrival and stay will be the best possible experience you could have of Rio. As a mother travelling with two daughters, I felt totally safe thanks the to the advice of the passionate and caring owners and staff, and they were always on hand to offer the best advice of how to spend our time, where to go and eat and listen to music in order to fully enjoy the wonders of Rio.
Cons: Absolutely nothing! It couldn't have been more perfect!
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Great B&B all round, with fantastic owners Lance and David, along with their staff they made my stay extremely enjoyable. I can highly recommend the airport transfer with their driver Anderson, who was extremely polite and a capable driver.
Cons: Everything good
Excellent 9.5
Pros: David was a great host as provided us with several information about the city that was very good in order to have a real experience in Rio. The place is very well protected and safe
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The welcoming atmosphere and the kindness of yhe host. Plus they helped us with our planning our sray and that was really helpfuml and enjoyable
Cons: Everything was just amazing
Excellent 9.3
Pros: very friendly and exceptionally helpful owners and manager who made our stay an experience to remember
Cons: we loved every minute
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was very comfortable, clean and got a nice view, the breakfast was very nice and tasty. I stayed in Ipanema area as well but here is totally different kind of vives and more local, very nice to experience the area. On top of that, staffs are very nice and kind. They helped me out for many things and especially David is very kind and knowledgeable about where is the good places to go, so I felt very comfortable and very lucky to meet him. Thank you very much!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was not only the well designed & extraordinary clean room or the freshly brewed & tasty coffee that made our stay so perfect. It was especially the great hospitality and helpfulness of the owners and the whole team, which we apprechiate the most. They helped us immediately after we were rejected at the airport because of missing vaccination documents (always carry them with you, if you want to go from Brasil to Ecuador or Columbia). Without their support, we would never have arrived in Ecuador by the next day. What else to say? Awesome breakfast: fresh fruit and homemade omelette every day, they even serve specials like banana pancake from time to time and of course you will also find breadrolls, cake and muesli. The rooms: just gorgeous with tasteful artwork, really spacious and clean. In addition most of them have direct access to one of the terraces and a separate entry. You will also find wonderful recreation areas on the terraces and inside the building, beautiful flowers and a pool that is cleaned every morning. Wifi: works perfectly everywhere. And again: the staff! No matter if it's a ride to the airport at midnight, a good advice what to to in Rio on rainy days or a simple but helpful safety lesson - it all comes with a smile at Casa Cool Beans!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Sergio was great extremely helpful when we arrived at airport and very welcoming. They also gave lots of extra travel information and breakfast in fridge as early check out. Just a shame we didn't stay longer
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The host was friendly and helpful. Also the breakfast was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was a nice experience: the price, location, rich breakfast (perfectly done)and, specially, the support provided by Maria, who made our stay the most pleasant and cozy. For sure we’ll choose Lapa Checa to stay in our next trips to Rio de Janeiro.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was amazing, and the overall comfort of the room. The host is super sweet and helpful.
Cons: Nothing- everything was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Good location, easy to access to metro. Nice staff, although English barrier, but google translation is work. Good breakfast. Everything user friendly. Strong recommend.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Maria was great. Walking distance to the main sprawl of Lapa and also a bit quieter and removed. Incredibly comfortable bed. Strong wifi. Delicious breakfast (especially the coffee).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really nice room, was like a little apartment. Nice host.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: An amazing host, she was lovely, very friendly and despite the language barrier we got by with Google translate. The room was big, an enormous very comfortable bed, air conditioning and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and she left us a packed breakfast on our last day when we slept in. Great location, safe and secure building. Id definately stay again.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.3
Pros: We were expecting it to be more like a traditional b&b/hostel but it is actually a private apartment room in a larger building. Breakfast is served in Maria’s own apartment on a separate floor. The building is secure with a security guard on the front desk and keypads on apartment doors. It felt very safe. Maria is a wonderful host. She doesn’t speak much English but uses a translation tool. She is friendly and happy to help. She even went out of her way to bake us a vegan cake especially. The normal breakfast selection is great and has fresh fruits, breads, cheeses, cold meats and cakes. The location is pretty good, not far from Santa Teresa, Selaron Steps, Parque de Ruinas. It’s also about a 15 minute taxi/Uber ride away from Ipanema, Copacabana and the Christ redeemer. The room has free WiFi, kettle, fridge and free drinking water.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Maria's home cooking. Advice and local knowledge from Maria, friendliness, good humour and fun!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nice and small B&B. Breakfast was awesome. Very friendly host. Easily the best hotel and breakfast during our 1 year world trip. Thank you!!

Pros: Location is superb! The room is not at all sound prove... got awake several times during the night. I could even hear people talking in the rooms on the sides... clearly heard what they were talking. Room was not clean at all, hair on the floor and calc in the shower. Minibar does only have water and sugar soda. The restaurant had several times less personal and food before 12 was not possible. Beer are just cheap local beer. The worst was really that I couldn’t sleep one night through without being waked.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Located directly at the Santos Dumont Airport, great breakfast at the rooftop bar, good restaurants in the attached mall
Cons: a sign pointing to the entrance would be good, took us a while to find it

Pros: The have exceptional breakfast, probably the best.
Cons: The rooms were extremely small and it was hard to move around the little space. In the bathroom, they only provide shampoo, no conditioner, no body wash, no body lotion. I'm more concerned about the space, not the accessories. one Elevator was working at a time leaving lots of people waiting to ride the elevator
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Nice lookout.
Cons: Only 2 elevators for many guests so this takes so long to get in depending on time. Internet connection for smartphones and tablets are terrible. It needs to connect to the network many times. No problema for laptops

Pros: Excellent breakfast Receptionist was very friendly and helpful
Cons: I don't recommend these apartments for those who visit Brasil in winter. No hot water, no heater in the room, only some fan with cold air only, between door and corridor there is a big hole so you can hear personnel talking continuously on walkie talkie starting at 6-7am. Much loud from outside air conditioners.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The staff is friendly. The room is big and cleaner. Very good breakfast. it´s all i need!
Okay 5.8
Pros: Good breakfast. I liked the pool and the amenities are good enough
Cons: The guy in charge of the breakfast was overseeing us just because my 1-y-old son had a small bread out of the breakfast room. In the following day often times the same guy was passing by our table seems double checking us. It was so embarrassed and we didn't feel comfortable. We stayed in an apartment in the next door (the called anexo). The anexo building was so old and smell bad. I didn't know we were to stay in the anexo when booked the room. The price of apartment in the anexo building is cheaper than the ones at the actual hotel, but I could afford a better place if I knew how it is in advance.
Good 6.8
Pros: Great breakfasts, big rooms and bathrooms
Cons: First room we got wasn't cleaned, second had leaking toilet
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything is FABULOUS!!!
Cons: Nothing to complain

Pros: The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro's downtown. It always has very affordable rates, and having the low price in mind what you get is more than good. The rooms are clean although a bit outdated. Breakfast is abundant. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Everything was okay

Okay 5.7
Pros: Clean room, clean and modern bathroom. Good location
Cons: Internet is not working 100% of the time. My neighbor is very noisy after hours but I guess it is just that room, can't blame the hotel for this.
Good 7.3
Pros: What I liked best was that the reception staff made every effort to help me, especially the one who spent a long time on the phone trying to help me locate my delayed luggage from the airport. He was friendly and polite and I appreciated his help a lot. The rooms and facilities were more than adequate for my needs, and the buffet breakfast choice was great. The price was excellent. I'd definitely stay there again.
Cons: Not the hotel's fault, but Centro is not the greatest location in Rio; not the cleanest or most interesting part. Having said that, I felt safe, and saw good nightlife including locals Capoiera dancing in the square.
Okay 4.0
Pros: My plan included breakfast. Breakfast was great because I could enjoy various kinds of cheese, ham, bread, and cakes. The room was traditional because of wooden floor and door.
Cons: There was a bit poor feeling because of small bed, small and no flat TV, no bus tub, and poor bed cover. Wireless internet did not work well because of weak signal.
Okay 5.3
Pros: hotel pep in the counter can speak english well
Cons: the girls in the counter is not so resonsable
Okay 5.3
Pros: Location, breakfast, decor, hotel staff.
Cons: The unusual arrangment of the rooms placed aound the outer edge on each floor with the centre section being completelty open from the top of the hotel to the bottom. This seems to channel noise upward through the open space.
Good 7.7
Pros: Free Wi-Fi internet. Clean and modern. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Nice located. Not far from subway station. Very good option for carnival and city trip for those who want not to overpay for copacobana
Cons: $review.cons
