It is an outstanding place. Hisporical atmosphere, great experience. The staff were very welcoming, they turned on the jacuzzi for me even though I was late. Got a free breakfast. Welcome drink is delicious. Highly recommend.
Overall, I love the hotel. It is really beautiful, prestigious, comfortable and clean. Staff are courteous.
Staff handling guests should have been more discreet and tactful. The Duty Manager asked me which room number I was staying in, when I did not know who he was. No name tag nor introduction until asked. Welcome drinks were just placed on the reception counter itself without informing what and who are they for? Had to serve my partner myself.
The building design, lot of spot to take photos, the cleanlines of the room, location and friendly staff.
Breakfast is mediocre for a 5* star hotel, lack of variety. Way better when its managed by Mandarin.
The rooms and the service.
Don’t do your laundry there. Way too expensive, but you get that with some hotels. Unfortunately we had no choice
This property has colonial history oozing out of its walls. In particular the landscaped gardens and traditional rooms were a blast from the past. Also there is a surprisingly good spa with jacuzzi and sauna (although the steam room in the male changing rooms was not working). The gym appeared well equipped (though I didn’t use it)
The heritage style of the rooms meant heritage mosquitoes too (unlike sealed modern hotels) although the staff did come and spray in the evening. Despite an excellent band in the pub style bar, the venue lacked atmosphere beyond being smokey. The breakfast appeared more limited than a modern hotel, although on request the chef does a fabulous banana pancake!
