Stones throw away from Master of Nets Garden. Set in spacious ground. Provided nice range of snacks in the room and premium tea. Interesting shops just outside the hotel as well.
Location is great for some key attractions. Really nice place and great value.
The hotel is built as a campus of several buildings. It is all decorated, including the rooms, in traditional Chinese style. Among the buildings is a beautiful traditional garden with ponds, sheds, and beautiful vegetation In the evening, a live performance of a traditional Chinese stringed instrument was held in the lobby. The hotel is not far from a subway station.
Breakfast was simple compared to what was expected from a hotel of this level. Location: Although located in the ancient area of the city, it is slightly away from the main attractions. (Not really a problem, because taxis are cheap)
Hotel has an interesting history, staff are friendly and helpful. Food is good if you like chinese food. Traditional Chinese garden settings makes hotel stands out from other modern new build hotels.
Heavy ciggeret smell, even though there is non smoking sign up on the wall, the communal area in their health club is specifically bad, as a non smoker, I can hardly breathe. Facility in swimming pool is very basic, there is no private changing area for individuals, so you will have to change in accompany of strangers, thankfully, they do separate female and male changing rooms. Swimming towels are very small, size of a hand towel. There is no privacy in your hotel room, so you will have to bath in full view of person sharing room with you, as curtain for bathroom is in bedroom. Toilet and shower are in the same room as bath, although there's another bath curtain, which may give you a bit privacy, but if you forget to pull it close, you'll be in full view of other person in the room. each towel is individually wrapped in plastic, which I found very environmentally unfriendly.
The atmosphere is typical.
It is a little bit old style.
