Spacious 1 bedroom, comfortable living area, very quiet.
Served our purpose
The pool complex and setting are beautiful.
We needed to pay for towels at the pool, they didn't replace supplies in our room, and it felt rather deserted (off-season at a ski resort).
Close to Lake Tahoehiking trails, chairlifts and g
Tvs did not work
Impossible to sleep
Everything has an led light that is blue or red or flashing, spent half an hour trying to figure out how to cover all the lights so we could sleep. Behind the headboard was another lit up thing that you could see between the mattress and the wall below the headboard while sleeping, and it had the low electric humming. WHAT THE HECK????? Beyond this, I get that it's fall and time to clean up and fix the resort, but 7:30am construction on a weekend is obnoxious at this price. Parking is a nightmare with the green signs that you can't see or find at night.
Summer May Not be the Best Time to Visit
Overall Cleanliness, most of the staff was at least trying to be helpful, staff very polite. Stayed in a 2B/2B Condo, very big and comfy - has almost all you need for your stay.
Kayak had the wrong address for the check-in reception, which had me going in loops for about 20-30 min. Next morning we attempted to go tot he Martis Valley Grill for their "signature brunch," but the shuttle driver did not know where that was so he first gave us directions and after about walking the entire Village turns out it is not at the Village but by the golf course, he called a shuttle to take us there but the shuttle never got there, we ended up eating pizza. We used the pool which was clean and heated, however the times on the binder and the actual pool time did not match so we missed out on about 2 hrs of swimming. This seemed to be the recurring theme with most everything, the times posted on the binder did not match the actual times for any of the services so we had to constantly keep asking locations for their business times.
Northstar California Resort is a combination ski lodge and resort nestled in the Martis Valley of North Lake Tahoe. Here, visitors can engage in adventure activities as well as relaxing leisure activities or simply take advantage of some of the amazing facilities available.
Northstar California Resort's rooms come in several different sized. The Luxury Studio is 460 square ft. apartment with a fireplace, King-sized bed, and a modern wet bar. From there, guests can choose from various sized villas, with two and even three bedroom options available. The largest of these is a spacious 1,800 square ft. room complete with a cozy den that is perfect for curling up next to the fireplace and relaxing after a long day skiing.
Speaking of the slopes, most guests spend their days here out on Mount Pluto, the extinct volcano that serves as the centerpiece for all of Northstar California Resort's outdoor activities. There are several different trails for visitors to try here, with plenty of different levels of difficulty from beginner to expert. Just about everyone can take advantage of Tubing at the Overlook, where people can take rubber inner tubes down the mountain. Those looking to learn how to ski or snowboard can take lessons at Burton Snowboard Academy and the Cross Country Center.
There's also plenty to do off of the mountain as well. The Village has a dedicated cinema with the latest movies as well as candle and pottery shop where people can purchase, or make, their very own candles and pots. The Village is also where visitors will find most of the dining options at the resort. Zephyr Lounge offers contemporary cuisine with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain. The Lodge at Big Springs is a more casual offering located in the heart of the mountain. However, the crown jewel is located on top of the mountain itself: Summit Steakhouse, an accurately named steak and seafood restaurant with an unparalleled location.
