The pool, workout and Spa are was excellent. The rooftop bar was truly enjoyable. The staff at the whiskey bar was friendly and the selection of bourbons was excellent. The location of being within walking distance to the Georgetown Riverfront was a big plus.
The staff. The location.
The room furnishings were a little run down. Walking through the building there were small items broken, like door card readers and cracked outlet plates.
It was nice to slip out and walk along the river. There’s a lot of cafes and bars just next door.
We paid extra for a river view. Could only see the river if you stepped close to the glass and peered to the right. They moved us to a different room. Initially we said we couldn’t be bothered moving but when we went to take an afternoon nap (both jet lagged) the bed had not been properly made so we did move. But we felt both rooms were very expensive for what we got. Small rooms. Stained carpets. That kind of thing. Went down to have a swim but pool was very small and unattractive especially compared to the photos.
Next to the Kennedy Center and walking distance to Georgetown
No doormen at check in, very ordinary rooms (not 5 star calibur), toilet seat did not fit the toilet (crazy), only 1 coffee cup in room, only 1 hook in bathroom.
Staff was extremely friendly!
The food on location wasn't 5 star and expensive, food was lacking but not horrible. Also constantly had to keep asking for non-decaf coffee for the room. Sadly one of the housekeeping staff brought the coffee and touched up the room and accidentally thew away an expensive dental retainer. But staff was extremely friendly!
The Watergate Hotel is an indelible piece of American history that is ready to show guests the future of hospitality.
There’s nothing sneaky about it: the Watergate is set to impress. Guests have the option of staying in the coveted scandal room, which was used in the actual break-in in 1972. It is decorated by Lyn Paolo, who designs costumes for the hit show Scandal. It features a 48” flat screen TV and even robes to help you “Cover Up.”
The rest of the rooms and suites each have their own unique charm and appeal. Instead of using a cookie-cutter framework for room design, the Watergate makes each room as significant as the guests that occupy them. Touches of luxury are incorporated into the experience such as marble bathrooms with warm, welcoming tones that inspire comfort.
The dining experience is as iconic as the hotel’s history itself. Guests can dine either inside or outside. Regardless of the choice, they will be surrounded by awe-inspiring architectural choices, accented by modern, clean lines and oversized fixtures. The option to sit in a couch-comfortable chair while gazing outside is available, as is a position on the patio with an impressive view on the side. The cocktail list features signature creations with fresh ingredients. At the Kingbird, guests have the option to indulge in freshly cooked beef, locally sourced fish and seafood, and farm fresh ingredients from local area suppliers.
The Watergate provides an opportunity for guests to truly blend in with a piece of American history.
