Good location. Grand old building.
I’ve been coming to this hotel several times a year for over 10 years. Unfortunately, it’s not as good as it used to be. I waited 10 minutes to check in because there was no one at reception. Breakfast has been downgraded to a cold buffet for “only” €29. Common areas (reception, bar, etc) have been remodeled from their original classic style (including antique furniture) to something resembling Motel One. Genuinely disappointing....
Wonderful, spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Spa wonderful as ever.
Beds not as comfortable as before takeover. Long time staff excellent but a lot of young inexperienced staff being trained. Reception area ruined by trying to be modern, previously was wonderfully elegant and traditional, in keeping with hotel. No evening restaurant available, only snack food. Sauna not working. Didn't offer the usual selection of toiletries in room.
The second room was very comfortable and clean. At the reception was a very nice gentleman I think his name was Bassin
The older gentleman at the reception was very unfriendly with me and my friends. The first room that I got was not clean. After wanting to go to another hotel, another gentleman from the reception was very friendly and professional and gave me another room that was very nice and clean
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Loved the old feel of this hotel....sauna/spaw
Wine was extremely pricey in bar- 30 euro for 2 small glasses
Very good location
No parking, hidden fees.
2015-2017 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner The German theologian Martin Luther was 3 years old and America not yet discovered, when the Schwarze Bock opened as a public bath house. This makes Hotel Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Germany’s oldest luxury hotel. The renowned Hotel was, and still is, a popular meeting place for celebrities and dignitaries from politics, the corporate world, arts and science. And, of course, it is also a place where the time-honored tradition of spa culture is lovingly preserved – a perfect blend of history and modernity. Even the literary masterminds Goethe and Dostojewski appreciated this.
