Friendly staff team. We were able to leave the vehicle in their car park the whole day after we checked out at no extra cost. In the town centre, the Town Mill pub serves excellent food.
It's fairly remote, so be prepared for a long walk to get decent food.
I have stayed at Best Western Hotels before and so didn't expect this to be quite so utilitarian - your heart always sinks if you get inside and there are pavings stones for flooring. The staff were very nice and polite, and there was a lovely young man with dark hair helping to serve at breakfast, who very kindly made me a pot of tea so I didn't have to use the machine. The breakfast was very good - a self-service buffet - and joy of joys there was fried bread! It was quiet, as it is up a long drive off a long lane and so out of town, and there was plenty of parking.
This hotel has seen better days and certainly my room in the annexe was very basic - think chipped formica, thin nylon carpet and a very big TV. I would think it caters to a clientele of travelling salesmen. The bathroom was very old-fashioned and because it was fitted for disabled users I had to shower in a s-shape to try to get wet by bending round the massive grab handle on the shower wall above the bath as it stuck out so far - and you couldn't move the shower head. But, the bedding was good, the bed and pillows comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and it was immaculately clean. But I felt that £87 for a one person was easily £30 too much for this level of facility - especially as I spent £59 a couple of nights ago in Wellington, Somerset in absolute luxury.
Staff always nice and breakfast was good!
Room a bit tired
The friendly staff and the bar food.
The wife found the bed to hard and the pillows uncomtable.
There was an excellent hot selection at breakfast and the restaurant/bar food was well cooked. The room was comfortable and the a/c very welcome.
The orange juice at breakfast needs improvement but otherwise we couldn’t fault anything.
