Axel Hotel Stay
The rooms had a comfortable bed and pillow. The rooms were clean and modern. The bathrooms are spacious and well maintained.
Best customer service
We checked in with Daniel in the front, who was AMAZING. He is so sweet, attentive, and adorable. We couldn't stop talking about what a gem he is. He gave us tipa for our stay, offered to print out our tickets to La sagrada familia, which were ready for us as soon as we went downstairs. We really enjoyed the customer service here it was the best received in our entire trip in Spain.
Beds were small but that's normal in Spain
A sexy getaway
The staff was wonderful. The room was sexy and comfortable. The location fabulous.

Room was very noisy. Could hear ladies talking in room above and constantly heard their high heels walking around above. Outside noise was very loud. Housekeepers in hallway very loud talking early in the morning every day. Room was stained and furniture showed signs of wear. Great location. Great lobby and hallway design.
Marisol! And the rooms were stylish.
Rooms smelled of cigarette smoke.
hotel should be mostly for gays. There were many straight couples, guess they did not know they arrived in a gay hotel. looks like too many straights for the gay community, to many gays for the straight guests. I am gay but this time the mix was not good. Check in lasted forever, they write you a guest pass by hand, it takes forever... worst check in in my life. Hotel was not able to provide service to print out my online boarding pass.. what a shame. I did not feel anything of the original gay concept, I felt they just sold out the hotel to anybody just to make money ( whats ok), but this was not my axel hotel from some years ago. It was just a very busy hotel and not sure if the value for the hotel was very good this time. Just my opinion.
Location. Great roof deck.
Got a good rate online for a Premium Deluxe room. It was nothing special - not premium or deluxe by my standards - very basic. When we arrived, needed to use the toilet facilities - no toilet paper in the large one on the 1st floor - went to dining room to inquire for paper or another facility to use. Was given napkins for the restaurant to use.
Good location in the middle of the eclectic pulse of Barcelona, a matter-of-fact, most of city's buzz is right in the hotel lobby bar.
Design trying to hard, instead could use a good hard cleaning.
Location is best. Hotel is pretty upscale. Aesthetic. Pleasing to the eye.
My credit card was charged before i checked in. Made the resrvation in euros. Was charged in dollars at a rate of 5% higher than what I would have gotten on my credit card plus commission. Was asked to sign a cr card slip that said I was offered a choice of currencies chose dollars and my choice was final.
AIt's a gay hotel but 'hetero friendly' me and my wife stayed with a group of friends and didn't feel anything strange. Friendly staff, great location, nice rooms and good value for money.
One of the reasons to chose it was the spa, but it cant be called a spa. 1 Sauna, 1 steam bath and teh pool and jakuzzi were not functional, some dirty stagnant water in the pool and we didn't use the spa after first trial. Also the minibar was nnot filled regularly and the room was not cleaned properly.
The room was beautiful and the staff helpful and friendly. The location was central and all sorts of transportation are within walking distance. We were lucky to get an upgrade to a room at the front of the hotel which have beautiful stain glass design balconies.
We stayed when it was a little cooler in the evenings. The bathroom design is open and therefore when you finish showering you get cold a little quicker than you would in a closed off shower area. However this is for such a short duration it should not deter you from this great hotel. I would without a doubt love to come back here!
I liked the location and modern style of the hotel. It is in easy walking reach of the centre of town and the roof terrace with its swimming pool gives excellent views of Barcelona
The wireless internet connection in my room was non existent which was very frustrating and the two computer in the reception area always had a several people waiting to use them
Nicely and newly renovated rooms. Very modern and well-appointed. Received a larger room than expected.
Lack of availability of house-keeping after 8pm and lack of support by hotel-staff in accommodating basic house-keeping requests (no pillowcases on bed and nobody available to address issue).
good location, nice staff
a little too expensive for a *** hotel; no mini fridge in the room
The room was lovely, very comfortable, Nice touches such as a complimentary free gillette razor, lovely pool, sauna, ideal for gay area, full of hot men
Breakfast was over priced for what it was and some stuff had oh so much attitude!
The kindness of the staff and the central location of Hotel Alex
Great Location, Staff Very Well Informed and Helpful. Great Place to stay, however you can get better and more upmarket accommodation at the same rate around the same area (e.g.Pulitzer, Olivia Plaza and Raphael Casanova). Axel has a more intimate atmosphere though.
Cheap Toiletries. Little noisy - Light wooden doors not sealed and halls not carpeted - can be disturbing when people come back from a night out ... you can hear all conversations and the elevator bell in your room.
Located close to Placa de Catalunya Metro Station, this chic 4-star hotel provides a rooftop terrace and a Jacuzzi. It is situated a brief stroll from University of Barcelona and Casa Batllo.
