Courtyard 7

I loved the space and the environment at the Courtyard 7. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location in the Hutong area is very close to alternative shops, cafes and bars.

When at the hotel we bought tickets to the Beijing Opera. Sincerely I consider to pricey for the value, since it was a touristy, short imitation of the real one.

When we arrived we were told we would have to stay at another hotel for the night as the guest in our room could not move until the following day as they had a bad leg and were elderly. This wasn't a real problem and the hotel paid for our transport from the airport and gave us a free dinner. When we did get our room in Courtyard 7 we spoke to some fellow guests who were told the very same thing and also had to stay elsewhere the same night as us. This made me wonder if they were telling the truth or had just double booked us. Having said that, everything else was fantastic.

Beautiful atmosphere in old part of Beijing in restored traditional house. Staff extremely helpful, organising train tickets, taxis etc. and advice on area. Good breakfast buffet provided

Not really a "don't like", but, being located in the alleyways of the old town, it is difficult to find and taxi drivers are not aware of it. Worth the trouble, though, once you get there! The owner (or manager) has two dogs which appear to have the run of the premises, including, sometimes, the restaurant. Not so good, particulalry if you don't like dogs.

The staff at Courtyard 7 were some of the most helpful that I have come across. They arranged day trips and onward travel arrangements, and went out of their way to make sure we had a delicious evening meal on our late arrival. This was an oasis in the middle of busy Beijing; a peaceful courtyard where you would find it hard to believe that the bustle of Beijing daily life is going on just outside the door.

It was a little hard to find, and the hotel had to talk the taxi driver in.
