Scandic Bergen City

Excellent and quite varied breakfast, the stay was almost worth the price for the breakfast alone. Also, extremely convenient location for pretty much any trip around Bergen (including the mountains or fjords), unbeatable price. The room was rather small but fairly clean, quiet and comfortable. The lobby area and the dining room were surprisingly nice. There were some issues (mentioned below) but the staff managed to resolve them promptly and with a smile. Overall, I would certainly recommend - especially if you're looking for exceptionally good value without sacrificing much comfort.

The radiator didn't work - upon mentioning that to the receptionist, we've received an electric heater that made the room much comfier. The ventilation system kept on humming strangely and couldn't be turned off - again, after a chat with the receptionist, we were offered a change of rooms, free of charge, arranged for the very next day - we've actually gotten used to that and did not take up on this offer (nevertheless, it was nice to know that it was there). The access cards to our room stopped working twice, apparently caused by some internal change in two parallel guest systems - both times we've received an apology and it was solved within a minute. The last issue was the hotel lobby bar - although generally pleasant, two nights in a row we've wanted to have a glass of wine and were met with either an absence of the bartender or him being somehow too busy (and apparently angry) with his cashier software to reply (or even notice us). Other members of staff were truly professional, though.
