Top tips for finding the perfect San José del Cabo hotel

If you're planning your first trip to San Jose del Cabo, consider staying in the historic downtown area. Book a room at Hotel Tropicana del Cabo, which is decorated in Mexican colonial style and features a swim-up pool bar. You'll be close to the Plaza Mijare, the town's main square, and the Mission of San Jose del Cabo Church, both popular destinations among tourists.
In the art district downtown, you’ll find several galleries, such as the Frank Arnold Gallery and the Patricia Mendoza Art Gallery. Consider staying at the Drift San Jose, a luxury hotel located in the heart of the art district. It's within two minutes on foot to the Frank Arnold Gallery and the Patricia Mendoza Art Gallery. For a more budget-friendly option, try Hotel Tropicana del Cabo, just a five-minute walk from the galleries.
If you want to play golf or be near the San Jose Estuary, consider staying at Puerto Los Cabos. This is a full resort community five minutes from downtown San Jose del Cabo and near the San Jose Estuary. There are several hotels on the property, including the 5-star Hotel El Ganzo, which features a pool with ocean views and a small recording studio. Even if you decide to stay elsewhere, you might still enjoy visiting Puerto Los Cabos for a stroll through the botanical garden or the sculpture garden.
If you're traveling to San Jose del Cabo for a beach vacation, book a room at one of the many beachfront hotels in San Jose del Cabo. The Cabo Azul Resort by Diamond Resorts has a large outdoor pool and spa center. You might also try the One&Only Palmilla, which features an infinity pool. Both offer views of the ocean.
If you have an early flight home, you may wish to stay near San Jose Del Cabo International Airport. Hotel Aeropuerto Los Cabos is conveniently located six minutes from the airport and provides free airport transportation.

Con " So we very much enjoyed our second stay at Grand Velas. I was very happy with the second room Vs the first one we booked. I was however disappointed to learn many - an excessive many— were there at very deep discounted rates. We do not mind paying for quality but we do mind paying for other guests stay, I.e. potential condo/ casitas buyers that have no intention of buying as well as large corporate groups. When you can offer me competitive rates for the same room—-let me know. Otherwise we will seek elsewhere. "

Pro " The facility is amazing and the staff is so friendly and very helpful. The view from our room was breathtaking. Free valet parking, the breakfast was included in our package, the rooms come with two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers. The pool water is at a very comfortable temperature (not cold) they serve romantic dinners near the beach on weekends. Great place to take many romantic walks and pictures. Room service prices are very reasonable for the amazing quality of the food and service. "
Con " They do the timeshare presentation here every day of the week and they don’t compensate as good as other timeshare hotels. The “coupons” or Boucher are only for food or massage service and it’s a $100 gift certificate you buy for $75. So you save $25 The city itself is very “Americanize” it feels like Vegas, but smaller. It’s a bunch of restaurants and clubs. The hotel is in a great location, between San Jose and San Lucas. If you want to party go to San Lucas if you want to spend a romantic night in a more quiet place go to San Jose. The hotel charged my credit card twice without notice. To make sure the “expenses where covered” once for $3000 pesos when we arrived and again for $8000 pesos one day before we checked out. It took about 3 days to get back our credit to out account. The tours and events are the same price everywhere, we recommend to purchase them at the hotel. They are more reliable than those sold in the streets. Be ready for a lot of pressure selling of timeshare everywhere and walking vendors all over "

8.9 Excellent (158 reviews)
Pro " The facility’s are beautiful. "
Con " The staff is extremely aloof and rude. 15% gratuity is included in all food or drink you eat on the property, so everyone moves at there own pace. The food on the property also isn’t the best. We walked down several hotels to have breakfast a few mornings because we didn’t want to eat the breakfast. "
