A plastic folding door between bedroom and toilet. Curtains hanging of the rails. Bed not made and bathroom not cleaned. Wet towel left in the shower were not changed. Decor very tiered and plaster coming off the wall in the hallway. The photographer shown on the website did not relate to what we received.
The property is centrally located, just around the corner from the main square. The staff were extremely friendly, courteous and professional. They gave us a complimentary wine bottle as it was our honeymoon and helped us with a floor fan since the weather was hot. The breakfast they provided was delicious! I would recommend this place for anyone traveling on a budget. There’s no flaw I can think of.
Hotel is in need of major renovations. Our room had no team and coffee, dodgy looking electrical sockets, whole in the floor covered by carpet, no bath and tiny shower etc
Jacob the hotel owner was the most friendly, amazing person we have met yet during our travels! He took control of my lost baggage saga which had been ongoing for 2 days (Brussels Airline/Swissport) and managed to get my long lost suitcase delivered from Brussels to the hotel room in Bruges for me! Thank you Jakob. He was always ready for a chat, and also showed us to the restaurant (oldest in Bruges) next door for a meal which was delicious and excellent service also - especially no booking in our part. The breakfast each morning was generous with plenty of choice of food for everyone.
It was the dirtiest hotel, we have ever been. An old house is one thing, but the other is, if it is cleaned and neat. Hotel Cavalier is really dirty from the toothbrushmugs to the tattered (!) bathmat to the disgusting toilet brush. The placemats at the breakfasttable were dirty from dinner, the sugar sprinklers sticky. There are neither new furnishings nor box springs (like announced on their website "From July 2018, there will be new furnishings, new box springs and new linens."), at the contrary, the furniture was very very old, the lamps broken, the beds worn and the view out of the window was a view at the rooftops with lots of cigarette stubs around.
With a stay at Hotel Cavalier in Bruges (Historical Center Bruges), you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Bruges Market Square (Grote Markt) and Bruges Belfry (Belfort). The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
