Pros: Excellent hotel with a personal touch. Ursula and Michele and all the staff were amazing hosts and always so helpful and accommodating ! The location was fab and so close to most of Capetowns main attractions and bars and restaurants. The room was cosy and warm and our favorite part of our stay was the breakfast it was truly delicious and great coffee. Thank you Rouge on Rose for a wonderful stay!

The room and bathroom were really clean. I loved waking up to the beautiful call to prayer.

Cons: As a lone woman I didnt feel very comfortable in the street, after an initial foray I took an uber every other time. This was cheap as the B & B is very central. Hot water took a very long time to come through to the shower and as Cape Town is still recovering from a drought this felt very wasteful of water.

Pros: Reception staff was 100% and improved my view of the whole experience. The view is truly amazing. Rooms were clean and decent (showers were terrible), and price was fair (discounted 30% at the time).
Cons: Neightbourhood can be unsafe for visitors when leaving the premises after dark (premises are gated and seemed safe). Staff will advice, so I could stay there again. Electronically heated shower that didn't provide any hot water even set at full power was a big letdown. The shower was without any hot water (luke warm at the best, but only on extremely low water flow). The handle of the toilet was loose and came out of the wall. The staff working the floors and kitchen were very loud from about 7am on and off. They were hushed on by reception and calmed down, but only for a little while. The washingmachine for the hotel was also going from early morning in a neighbouring room, so getting a room hight in the building is reccommended.

Pros: The staff were very helpful and accommodating, as I needed to make an early start to take part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and throughout they were quick to help when asked. Natalie was very welcoming on arrival and booked me in at a local restaurant on the first night. On departure day she booked taxis very efficiently. The breakfast omelette was outstanding so much so I had it three times over ! The room was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious and well designed. The hotel’s location slightly away from The immediate city centre but close enough to walk to suited me very well. The hotel has real character because of its Dutch antique style decor and furnishings. A very unusual but beautiful place to stay - a little gem. With only 6 rooms it is a very personal place to stay, a real home from home. I could go on, but suffice to say, it’s my kind of place and I wish there were more like it

Cons: The carpets are not very clean, but the antique furniture and decorations made up for it. Because the room is next to the reception area the light in the reception was visible throughout the night around the door.

Pros: Staff was really friendly and helpful, the hotel was nicely decorated and the facilities in the room were good and the bed was comfortable. Location is nice as well, few minutes from Bo-Kaap. The disappointing breakfast made it overpriced for us.
Cons: Even though the staff tried, breakfast was a bit disappointing for a hotel in this price range and took a long time to prepare, even when pre-ordered. Apparently there was a problem with the delivery of groceries, but there are supermarkets everywhere so the hotel could have bought their groceries elsewhere. A number of items that were supposed to be included in the breakfast were not available for four consecutive days and fruit salad for example consisted of one strawberry that was cut in very thin slices and that we had to share.

Pros: Location, reception staff, cleanliness, quirkiness
Cons: The room we had (room6) had an extractor fan in the bathroom that was excessively loud and couldn't be switched off resulting in a really poor nights sleep for myself and my Girlfriend who'd just endured a 14 hour flight. "Don't worry" I said, "just wait until breakfast those amazing pancakes that THE CHEF MAKES and all guests rave about will make it all right." We were told breakfast was between 8-11 went at 9am to find no staff around? Bit confused. 5 minutes later staff appeared and advised "No pancakes" apparently ran out the day before our stay and no one had been out to BUY anymore. Disappointed my girlfriend ordered smoked salmon scrambled eggs with cream cheese and a croissant. No cream cheese as they'd ran out of that as well, croissant was cold washed down with really cheap orange juice. I ordered eggs Benedict with Ham. It arrived, no ham. Had to wait another 10 mins for bacon to arrive. When that arrived that too was unbelievably Luke warm. Coffee was very very good though. Place is amazingly quirky and cool, reception/concierge staff fantastic, room spottlessly clean. Just let down by an extractor fan, poor service and not great food.

Pros: The staff were fabulous. Friendly, helpful, and committed to us having a great stay. Loved the antique furniture, four poster beds, and the location in Bo-Kaap. Thankfully the bathroom was modern.
Cons: The breakfast room is nicely decorated but needs a window for natural light. Or put out umbrellas on the spectacular roof area and eat up there.

Pros: The staff was nice.
Cons: We booked our stay based on excellent reviews, and honestly - we really don't understand how the place got such a high rating. Yes, the location is not bad and the staff was nice, but the entire hotel looks like a dumpster for things that are supposed to be antique but in effect should have been thrown out years ago. The place is cluttered and suffocating. In addition, the breakfast was the worst we've had in an entire month's trip. We also didn't appreciate paying for parking... in their own garage - it felt like a very petty charge.

Pros: The hotel’s furnishings were antique and relaxing place to stay. The room was clean and the shower and toilet was old facility but comfortable to use. All the staffs were willing to help us. We especially loved the breakfast, the egg benedict was extremely good!!
Cons: The location is Bokaap area, and foreigners shouldn’t walk around at night. But the hotel itself was safe and secured. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Pros: Great location. The hotel was clean and had good sized rooms. I am not sure though if "antique" is an excuse to have lots of old mismatched furniture and ornaments.
Cons: It was rated as a 4 star and really wasnt, there are a few small things that could be done to improve the experience, a bedside table that can be reached from the bed, a box of tissues, working Wi-Fi (I was given the code a number of times but never on a piece of paper and it never worked), lamp that can be reached fro the bed. Finally they need a receptionist or someone who can handle check out available before 8am.

Cons: Only 2/6 lights working in bathroom and despite repeated requests these were never fixed; many of the things listed on Booking.com were not available; there was no Manager on site to raise these issues with, again, despite repeated requests; 3 weeks after detailing complaints in 3 separate emails no response has been received from the Hotel. Would not recommend anyone to stay there. Oh, and the reception desk is RIGHT outside Rooms 1 and 2 so occasional (late) disturbances. And there was no internet available for the duration of our end of year stay. NIGHTMARE!

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The staff were very helpful and accommodating, as I needed to make an early start to take part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and throughout they were quick to help when asked. Natalie was very welcoming on arrival and booked me in at a local restaurant on the first night. On departure day she booked taxis very efficiently. The breakfast omelette was outstanding so much so I had it three times over ! The room was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious and well designed. The hotel’s location slightly away from The immediate city centre but close enough to walk to suited me very well. The hotel has real character because of its Dutch antique style decor and furnishings. A very unusual but beautiful place to stay - a little gem. With only 6 rooms it is a very personal place to stay, a real home from home. I could go on, but suffice to say, it’s my kind of place and I wish there were more like it
Cons: It’s not so much what I didn’t like, rather what I think might improve staying at the Dutch Manor. A notice on the front door saying ‘Dutch Manor Hotel’ would be a good idea ( I know there’s one above the door, but it’s a good long way up). I realise the grille is required for security purposes, but it needs to be repainted. First impressions matter. The Local Authority needs to be asked to sweep up the rubbish in the street - it could be a lot cleaner (and therefore smarter). These are relatively small matters, but when Natalie opens the door to you with a fabulous smile, all these small things will melt away as she ushers you into the charming interior
