The staff was great. The car was a bit run down, though they maybe wouldn't know about some of the weird quirks like the windows being difficult to get back up.

My experience with Ilha Verde was superb. I rented the cheapest car they had for an impromptu addition to a separate Azores island trip already planned where I had already paid $1,300 for that vehicle. Ilha verde had a very reasonably-priced Twingo for our time at this last-minute addition. Upon vehicle pickup, the attendant kindly alerted me that the Twingo didn’t have adequate power to get up the steep slopes the island is know for and that for $11 Euros total, we could upgrade to a more powerful vehicle with additional room. In the end, it was worth every Euro and turn in was a breeze. Additionally, when I had already left the airport, I realized that I did not have a full tank of gas, even though my checkout paperwork said I did. I addressed this issue during vehicle turn in, and two days later, they credited me for the amount of fuel that was missing. A+ experience with Ilha Verde. I would rent from them again.
