Near the station
No food available, looks to be occupied by dss claimants, beds uncomfortable, rooms need a makeover
the staff were really friendly and helpful
dusty skirting boards. Bathroom needed attention: rusty radiator, peddle bin and shower curtain rail. Also bath panel needed replacing, it was warped and tatty.
Our room was filthy, the walls were disgusting. The TV had no signal, the bathroom door didn't close unless the toilet seat was up The bed was clean and comfy. The furniture was dated.
The location was really good, the main reason why we booked it, the staff were pleasant as well, not to over the top, but pleasant.
Pretty much everything else, I now wish I took pictures to show the state the room was in. There was no main light in the bedroom, only bed side lights/bath room light. (I gather this may not be a huge thing, but did make getting ready a lot harder). The bed was rock hard and provided a very uncomfortable sleep, both me and my partner woke up the next day with painful backs. The bathroom had black mould all around it and was coming away at the bottom. considering the room cost us £115 for 1 night in the ‘superior room’ we did expect a lot more. The worst thing about the room was how thin the walls were. You could hear the room above you, from taps turning on to the loos flushing. Due to the room being quite close to the entrance as well it meant we heard everyone come through the building/ the staff conversations at reception. This also made us worry if we could hear all of that so well, could they hear our conversations? Over all it was a pretty awful stay, 100% would not recommend
Everything could have been better. The room was absolutely filthy, black muck all around the bathroom window. Rubbish and an inhaler behind one of the bedside tables. The wall was riddling with rising damp; at first it looked like it had been touched up with a darker magnolia paint- but when you touched it it felt wet and soft. The spare pillows which were in the top of the wardrobe (as there was only one pillow per person on the bed) were unusable and they were soaking wet and stunk of damp. All in all, an absolutely diabolical 'hotel'. If there was anywhere else available to stay last night then we would have just left.
