The gardens and the lounge areas are amazing. Definitely worth doing a walk through the gardens in the morning. Great value.
The room we stayed in was very basic, which was fair for the price, but the window didn't open and the loo didn't flush properly. The room was overheated and had an odd smell.
the setting the hotel was in and the views
noise at night from people coming out of ball right up to 3.45am!!
The location and the parkland
Felt a bit empty and lifless
The main building is stunning as is the setting
The sevice and food in the dining room are very poor 40min wait for a cold starter most staff not from GB
The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Some of the shared areas were very impressive and the setting was pretty good too.
The room we stayed in was too small. The restaurant menu was the same for the three nights we stayed. The room we stayed in was opposite the 18th hole of the golf course and it was mowed at about 7.15am on two of the three mornings. Not what you need on a relaxing break.
Impressive main house and good leisure facilities. Breakfast was also good and plentiful.
The room we were in was small with an odd wardrobe with no doors and sharp corners, which my husband banged his head on trying to negotiate the small space between the bed and wardrobe. Although refurbished, this room was in the Shrewesbury Wing, it looked like any standard motel rather than a stately manor house as expected.
The public areas and hotel grounds are lovely
The rooms don't live up to the rest of the hotel. Barely travel lodge standards. Bar prices are extortionate - £11 for 2 spirits with mixers.
The peace and quiet on a Friday night at an English country manor.
1) Never anyone at the bar to order tea/coffee or pre-dinner drinks. 2) The hideous concrete additions to a beautiful house
The house was very nice and quiet and enjoyed being able to smoke in the bar. the grounds are very nice and peaceful. The pool was very warm and clean and everything was maintained very well. The food was excellent.
the buildings next to the house were not inkeeping with the house which made everything look odd. The prices in the bar were outrageous. Also there was no information provided in the room about the hotel facilities etc and had to ask reception about everything
very good food, friendly staff
very understaffed. very expensive bar prices . 90% of rooms had a view. ours didn't.
Very peaceful yet easy access to neighbouring villages etc.
I did not like the block our hotel was in as it was some kind of reverted office block. No mini bar, no room service. No information at all about the hotel or area in the room. Breakfast was cold.
