Friendly staff. Breakfast was ok. Location was close to town.
It smelt damp. Damp on the walls. Dirty bathroom.bottom stair was dangerous . Next to a busy main road. Neighbours had their Tele on all night. Had to walk out into the street to have breakfast next door. One bed needed to go to the dump. Hair in the shower tray. Filthy pipework behind toilet. Mould in the grout
This is a cheap one night stopover. It does what it says on the tin! The host is friendly and you are walking distance from restaurants and pubs (5mins)
Parking is by a garage and I didn't really feel it was safe leaving the car there. Walls are a bit thin and noise travelled.
Beds were clean and firm but comfy. Room was narrow but clean with tv and wifi worked fine. Absolutely fine for a cheap one night stay before getting the ferry. Ensuite bathroom was small but clean and up to date. Basic breakfast, as it is included in the price, was fine- skip it if you don't need it though. Really near the town centre(with lots of pubs and places to eat- do this!). Small communal kitchen with microwave, coffee, tea and biscuits was a nice touch. Code entry means you can come and go as you wish. There is a 24 hour petrol station with spar shop just across the road. We parked near there.
Its a hostel not a hotel, so expectations should be as such. The stairs are narrow and steep. Slight smell of damp in the hallway and cafe area. Check-in times are limited as are the breakfast times(skip this if you dont need or want it- its fine but nothing special and its always included in the price.)There is no hostel parking- but were plenty on road parking in nearby streets (pay and display daytime but nights free until 9.30am). Its located on a relatively busy road- our room was fine though as it didnt face the road. The manager was polite and made sure to tell us what we needed to know but not friendly and got stressed when another guest said they might not manage to eat their egg!!! He was quite difficult to communicate with but was always polite to us. You have to ring a bell and wait to check in. We didnt see any other staff there.
What I like is not interesting, it's what is not okay that I don't like
The damp atmosphere, the smell of the drain/sewer. Poor ventilation in the building. All together: not healthy
Location. Close to everything.
