The location of this hotel was great. The front of the hotel overlooked the gardens and the loch.
This is clearly a hotel that has seen better days. The hall, the bar and the small reception looked shabby and gave a bad first impression. The large lounge is badly lit and not particularly welcoming - only if you manage to get a (in demand) fireside seat would it be comfortable. The small lobby next to our bedroom door was so badly lit that we could not see to get the key in the door. The room (and yes I know it was the cheapest option - we were only staying one night) was ok - bathroom small, so the basin was in the bedroom itself. v strange. The restaurant looked to be the only area which has had some recent refitting - again the rather cheap looking framed photos on the wall did not enhance. Dinner was ok, but not the best. Breakfast - again, ok but poached eggs rather rubbery. We were surprised on the whole, as this was meant to be a hotel good for its cuisine. Maybe the chef was away? I really would not recommend this hotel for anything more than one night.
The location was superb the Manager and staff excellent.
Could do with some up grading.
Great sized family room and comfy beds. Convenient location. Very nice staff. Food was very good.
Bathroom was chilly and a little small for a family of 5.
Nice location , looks like a heritage hotel with nice room and comfortable stay
Dinner menu was not great and location is a little far from city so no restaurant options
