Very clean, nice bedrooms and good beds. Plenty of pressure and hot water in the shower. Staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Very well situated -- close to a busy area but on a perfectly quiet street with no through traffic.
Location 2 mins from station, just off main street for restaurants and cafes. Room 9 has a new comfortable mattress.
Room 9 - Dark and lacking ventilation. Your "window" was once real, but now has a venetian blind on the OUTSIDE, which is INSIDE a utility room and blind is always closed (note to staff visible to keep it closed!!) Forget about any kind of view whatsoever or natural light. The window opens less than a hand width, but this is only into that utility room. Room ventilation is by means of an exhaust fan high up on your "window". As a consequence, your room is far too hot and stuffy. Note : no air con, but also no simple outside fresh air ventilation. Love the security message sticker on the "window". Room 9 - Noisy Adjacent to the kitchen and said utility room. Banging of pots/pans and cupboard doors, and greasy bacon smells await your guaranteed early morning rise. Kitchen door is almost always propped open (staff present or not) - fire hazard? I wonder about conformance to UK Guest House laws. See pictures, unfortunately rotated when included here.
We had a very large room with very high ceilings, and it felt very spacious. Our comfortable bed was 2m square, but we still had acres of space to move around. Bathroom was clean and everything worked. Breakfast room was "functional", and we had everything we needed available for self service, with everything "à volonté" , and no waiting. Overall, very good value for the money!!
Everything worked for us - improvements would only be in decor and the quality of finishings, particularly the dining room, but would result in higher prices. No point having vases full of fresh flowers if you must wait 20 minutes to be served a second cup of tea!
Excellent for the money we paid, would use again and recommend to all. Friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. Booked taxis etc for us and gave us an early check in to allow for getting ready for the wedding we were attending
