10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well designed room, great property with trails, private hot tub.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Red Tail Ranch whist visiting Yosemite. It was a luxury stop on our honeymoon trip to California and the best place we stayed! The ranch itself is lovely, very peaceful and beautiful. It was wonderful to see the humming birds out the window over breakfast. Our room had everything you could need, was clean, with very good attention to detail, such as the Red Tail Ranch robes and shower gels. We even utilised the grill one night, then relaxed in the hot tub! The location is excellent for visiting Yosemite, just over an hour away to get to the valley. Breakfast by Deborah was great each morning and set us up for days on the trails. Both Deborah and Kevin were so welcoming and helpful. You really can't go wrong staying here, and we would highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ranch is a wonderful, peaceful oasis, close to Yosemite national park. Our room was spacious and meticulously clean. Morning breakfast was a highlight. Deborah cooks a delicious breakfast which is served overlooking the ranch, watching hummingbirds fly past and turkeys amble by. As animal lovers we also adored the resident dogs Sophie and Barkley. Highly recommend this accommodation if you want to stay outside the park.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts, always willing to help. Wonderful view with a really nice hot tub. Absolutly recommendable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect...awesome....so thankful to be Part of Red Tail Ranch. Thanks Deborah and Cill Kevin
Cons: To leave it...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet & peaceful setting. Incredible hosts, lovely accommodations, & delicious breakfast.
Cons: A bit further from Yosemite than we thought but a beautiful drive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location in the middle of nature. The hosting couple is so nice, welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast. The rooms are spoiling with anything you can think of. Was such a good surprise for us as we didn’t get it was that good from the description and pictures. Highly recommended!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Lovely B&B. Deborah and Kevin very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast varied each day, excellent. The highlight of our trip to California.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great rural ranch experience, Deborah and Kevin are wonderful hosts, definitely will stay next time! Highly recommend this place to my friends!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is just beautiful and full of nature. The hosts are adorable people and help you with every question regarding your visit of Yosemite or anything else. Yosemite is 1 to 1,5 Hours Drive. There is a nice small town just 10 minutes away. Don’t hesitate to visit this place.
Cons: Only thing to regret is, that we haven’t booked more days. :)

Pros: Facilities - games room, pool, very well stocked general store with good prices,, free smores, poolside bbq, great activities, big, comfortable room. Everything was just right! Great atmosphere, fabulous service. Was a truly memorable stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is beautiful , the facilities are excellent the nature is fantastic . Great to have a pool to relax after hiking . Many opportunities to play some game in the evening and to socialize.
Cons: All was really great !
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Special place. Loved it
Cons: No much really. Staff, facilities, room, location, all awesome.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, excellent location at 2 miles from Yosimite park entrance surrounded by forest, swimmingpool and jaccuzi, friendly staff, very clean
Cons: Due to the location, you have no other option for dining than the hotel. Prices are very high and choice is limited.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room and atmosphere
Cons: Breakfast was not included in the price of our stay. Wanted a TV for late night viewing the news
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Food was great - pricey but not as much as I had expected. Free s’mores by the fire pit 7-9pm was a really nice touch. Live music by the pool good too. 5 mins drive from Yosemite valley entrance.
Cons: The price is absolutely extortionate but I guess that’s the rate for such a nice hotel so close to Yosemite valley in peak season. However, for this price I expected to completely blown away - the standard of service was average, no better than any other hotel we stayed in during our California trip.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quality of accomodation, service, facilities and location.
Cons: Beer price ;)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms and very nice surrounding. The pool area and the playground was fantastic. The bad was very confortable. The bathroom big enough and nice shower.
Cons: The cleaning in the room could be better. The grill near the pool was fantastic, but it was the same every second day. It could be more varied.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities, close to Yosemite park.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely set up and very relaxed. The accommodation and play areas were fabulous. Our 3 kids loved it (ages 11, 9 and 5). A great place to do some laundry too (1though 2 of 4 washing machines were out of order during our stay, as were 2 of 3 tumble dryers)
Cons: The food options were very overpriced and limited. They appear to take advantage that there are no other options - meals for a family of 5 were extremely expensive. A shame as it does impact what was otherwise a fabulous place.
Evergreen Lodge Yosemite - Groveland - Outdoors view

9.1 Excellent (1,311 reviews)
C$ 332+
Overview Reviews
Yosemite National Park is an eye-catching place to visit. When travelers are looking for a place to stay in the heart of it all, they can choose the Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite. It is located right in Yosemite National Park, and it opened in the 1920s. It has 88 cabins on 20 acres in the beautiful forest. The cabins contain all of the comforts of home. These cabins have king size beds, large sitting areas, queen sofa beds, private decks, breathtaking views, charming cast iron gas fireplaces, air conditioning, WiFi, Alexa devices, historic artwork of the area, coffee maker, electric tea kettles, feather pillows, hairdryer, in-room safe, ceiling fan, and mini fridge. There are no kitchens in the cabins because cooking and campfires are not permitted in the cabins or on the campsites. There is dining on-site and guests can enjoy the Main Lodge, Pool Bar, Tavern, and the general store and gift shop for any snacks. Guests who are staying in the area can enjoy the sites of the area. They can explore Yosemite National Park, go white water rafting, wine tasting, take giant Sequoia hikes, and visiting Preston Falls. There are plenty of hiking trails, and guests will be blown away by the amazing views here. When staying at the Evergreen Lodge, guests will get a true taste of living in a cabin in the woods. The views are breathtaking, and the amenities are great! The staff here is well educated on the area and will be able to give guests some great places to check out.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great lodge experience, room very comfortable with good amenities. Excellent restaurant options, kid friendly, activities and small store. Great experience overall and would stay again!
Cons: Although close enough to the main Yosemite park gate, it is a 7 mile drive in from main road on a somewhat windy road so that got a bit tiring. Our room had a funny smell and we think there were bed bugs as we got some rashes by the time we left. Looks like the blankets need cleaning. Nothing serious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and staff were superb
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lodge located in fantastic surroundings. A haven of peace. Away from the human avalanche in Yosemite valley.
Cons: Extra activities advertised (star gazing), booked 3 months in advance, but canceled by the property at the last minute (7pm on the evening the activity was to take place) despite excellent conditions. Reason given that they have only one person to do it and that person was supposedly not available due to a calendar conflict, despite booking 3 months in advance and no prior indication to that effect - very unprofessional IMHO.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The property is great - feels like you’re in the middle of the woods, but the cabins are very nice and the amenities are great. Food was really good, and staff was friendly and everyone was very helpful. Really enjoyed some of the distractions for the kids - it was easy to come back and relax after a long day of hiking, or the kids could zip line or swim. Extra bonus: easy access to both ends of Yosemite NP.
Cons: Only a couple comments for improvements. - the biggest issue we had was housekeeping service. The first day we only received partial service. Towels were not replaced (we hung some but needed more), coffee supplies were not replaced, and a couple of other minor inconveniences. This seemed odd to me b/c some services were performed, like the trash appeared to be emptied and the beds were made. Anyway, this required me to walk to the front office early the next morning to pick up some things. Fortunately even though they were technically closed the guy at the front desk was kind enough to not make me wait and grabbed a few things for me on the spot. On the next day, we received no housekeeping services. So that was frustrating - after drawing attention to an issue, and after a long day in the national park, our room was less than relaxing. (Also to be clear, we double checked and did not leave the “do not disturb” sign up or anything like that. We’ll chalk this up to growing pains - our stay was mostly great, but just want management to know this was an issue for us. - it is a little off the beaten path and the roads aren’t great, so the drive (last couple of miles) could be better. - on property views are a little limited unless you are on the west side. Walking to that space is ok, but walking to off property trails and views is not realistic due to lack of maintained trails in the area (not your fault, just somewhat inconvenient to hike out). The property overall is exactly what we were looking for - secluded, private and “in nature.”
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They had a lot of fun activities for the whole family
Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: Bed was comfortable after a long day of hiking. A/C worked well after the room cooled off.
Cons: Didn't like that I could not park next to my cabin....had to park in general parking some distance away. Odd odor in the room. Very small accommodations for $300/night. I paid the same thing the night before at the Omni San Francisco, and this is nothing close to that. The seven-mile drive off the main road to reach this facility cannot be described as even remotely smooth.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pool area was great, food very good and staff was professional, friendly, and helpful.
Cons: The drive to the lodge could have been shorter!F
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The photos on the website don't do this place justice. It is an incredibly curated property, very clean, with amazing staff and rec center employees who are willing to help schedule excursions and give you insight on where to go in the park.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, great location, all the facilities you need, great pool, lovely accommodation, great staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent. The staff and facilities were second to none.
Cons: There is nothing to complain about here. This place is amazing.

7.5 Good
Pros: Good location, caring staff, and free parking.
Cons: Expensive and limited food options.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice little town, but a bit expensive for what is there.
Cons: Because the hotel is sitting right on the only street going thru town, traffic noise was very loud. But it was nice they provided us ear plugs and a sound machine for night time which helped.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: The staff were polite and efficient however i felt they were always about to do something else or on their way to something else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for Yosemite, very comfortable rooms, everything you need in the town
8.0 Excellent
Pros: lots of exits to porch and balcony equipped with chairs, tables and ashtrays!!
Cons: No lift, rooms have no tables, no chairs, and have very old squeaky beds
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. The rooms were a little bit small but they were clean and comfortable.
5.0 Okay
Pros: I liked the antique furniture The problem, I don't think it was elderly or handicap friendly, far as getting to rooms was difficullt. I was afraid to take a shower, as it had no things to grab on to make it secure. (should have put down below, sorry.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfortable. Staff helpful. Quaint, historic feel.
Cons: Old, stained toilet brush in the bathroom. Plug push didn't work in the sink.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting of the hotel, nice garden area to chill
Cons: Th bar seemed to close very early
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The ambience of this historic building. Helpfulness of receptionist The quality of bed mattress, sheets and even the tissues and toilet paper. A short stroll to restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Closeness (20 miles) to Yosemite National Park. Supermarket just up the road.
Cons: Our room was the smallest on the first level of the adjoining building. There was no chair/s and only one bedside table. To watch TV you had to sit or lie on the bed Very little space for toiletries adjacent the hand basin which was in the bedroom. The air conditioning was quite cold and adjusting the thermostat in the room had no effect, nor did turning the system off. Cold air continued pouring into the room. The hallway air con seemed to control the air temperature. The hallway temp was very cold.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice garden and in a lovely location
Cons: The room we had was quite small and it had bunks. Not much room for 3 people and it slept 4
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were very good
Cons: The hotel was poor value for money but less expensive than the Majestic Yosemite which sets the standard for the area. The staff were very charming but the quality of the accommodation for the price charged was a shock. As an example the room overlooked the road and was provided with a white noise machine and ear plugs! The bathroom was tiny. No wardrobe and just hooks to hang your clothes.

Cons: It's not very sound proof. foot steps in the hall way at about 1-am freaked me out.

Pros: A beautiful and charming hotel which looks like just moved there directly from a classic western movie. My room was clean, comfy and, again, with feels like I just leave my mustang in the barn and came upstairs to soak in the hot tube. Pros: Ther was no warm wather to bat with
6.8 Good
Pros: Cute place to stay, owners were so nice, location was perfect, pool and grounds were clean, rooms were updated, laundry room was convenient. Highly recommend if you’re not too picky about housekeeping.
Cons: We arrived to find our room had not been vacuumed or dusted and there were no pillowcases on pillows. When we asked for our room to be cleaned, pillows were thrown in a heap on our beds. Housekeeping was definitely subpar. Beds were not comfortable and neighbors above us were very loud.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Only one hour to reach Yosemite village. Spacious and clean room, comfortable beds. Swimming pool.
Cons: Overpriced and no breakfast included. Our room wasn’t ready to move in until 6pm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place, the team, the clean environment , ice machine and vending machine , smoking area , great for family play area safe and secured area
Cons: There is no supermarket or any gas station in place
7.4 Good
Pros: You can't beat the location - just outside the El Portal entrance to Yosemite. Only about 20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and its many trails, waterfalls, and sites. Some portions of the hotel have been redone - including bathroom vanities. Pizza from the onsite pizzeria was actually good.
Cons: A lot of the hotel still needs some TLC. A lot of the exposed steel in the indoor pool area is rusting, The landscaping needs some upkeep. The room decor was a bit dated. It felt a bit overpriced for the amenities. For example, I was charged $5 / night for use of a baby crib. The wifi wasn't included and was $10 / night. So on top of paying a lot for the room I felt like I was being nickled & dimed. Also, the food in the little grocery store was mostly processed food and was 2x - 3x the price you'd find at a normal grocery store.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely, rooms well equipped & generous size. Pool & hot tub perfect after a long day walking in Yosemite
5.0 Okay
Cons: Hotel looked quite old, one elecrical plug was dangerous to handle, bath tube drain not working.
6.8 Good
Pros: Property was only a short 20 min drive to Yosemite and the pool area was very useful.
Cons: Rooms look a bit tired and could do with a refresh. Expensive for what you get.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Only restaurant was next to the accomodation. This restaurant was expensive for the food you get. It was also not hygenic. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so you could only rely on this restaurant. The hotelroom was also not hygenic. It was not clean. The staff of the hotel was friendly.
6.8 Good
Cons: Cleaning was not good in the bathroom - sink etc. not cleaned for multiple days
7.5 Good
Pros: Large rooms Clean Close to Yosemite
Cons: Smoking area Refrig not cold
8.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, comfortable, rustic but attractive, reasonably priced option for those who want to be near Yosemite.
Cons: No, wifi wasn't available as stated, but I was in Yosemite and connectivity is dicey.

Pros: Cozy and relaxing with a .nice view. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. The hands on owner was very attentive and knowledgeable about the history of the area.
Cons: The water out of the tap smelled like sulfur but did not taste like it. The parking was a little cumbersome. The waiters were new and had to go tell the staff about what was missing for myself.
5.8 Okay
Pros: We had no breakfast. Location is ok if you are passing through Yosemite.
Cons: The cabin has nice view fom the porch but rusty chairs and absence of table do not encourage sitting there. We missed fridge.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant with good menus and the peace of the place. The cabins are nice and the air conditionning is very quiet
Cons: The breakfast was too late in the morning: 8:00am is too late to drive all the way to Yosemite and hike.
6.3 Good
Pros: Restaurant was great
Cons: The beds needs new mattresses - not very comfortable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Parking. Good WiFi. Clean room. Good price
Cons: No fridge.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved the cabin especially having 2 beds and we loved the view. It was nice having the restaurant on site too although I would have liked more dinner options. The cabin was nicely decorated and had a theme too!
Cons: Would have liked the pool to be open.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: For the first time on our road trip, we could fully relax knowing that we did not need to go anywhere for dinner and breakfast. We could simply take in the cabin atmosphere on the terrace, enjoy our dinner and the beautiful sunset over the valley. Same over in the morning. Lovely.
Cons: It was a bit untidy at the back of the cafe. The furniture outside cabin 3 was also rather worn. Apart from that, the old style cabins had their charm and with good beds, perfect air conditioning and up to date bathrooms, we slept very well :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Having a whole cabin to yourself. And the history of the place ...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Basic, comfortable accommodation in a cabin with veranda. Quiet countryside location despite being just off a main road to Yosemite. Choice of breakfast available to buy at the cafe on site.
Cons: Had difficulty finding Priest Station in the dark - local route finder online gave very misleading instructions! Quite tricky to lock front door of cabin. In mountains, so no mobile phone signal, and wifi wasn't working.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Nice view. Cabin with terrasse. Air conditioning. Big flat tv with satellite. Wifi OK.
Cons: Very noisy due to the road just above and the cars behind the cabins. No refrigerator, no hairdryer.

Pros: The room was clean. That's it.
Cons: My room was a king room. But in the closet was full of unused furniture and I couldn't use that closet.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The guys cooked us a great meal
Cons: Was a bit far from Yosemite but a great location in rural California
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is awesome, the hosts are so lovely and couldn’t do more for us during our stay. We arrived having prepared to chill in their communal areas with our own beer to be told they have beer complimentary! They made a fully homemade dinner on our first night which was a great and lovely change to what we had been eating on our trip which at this point included NYC and San Francisco! Breakfast is also great and laid out each morning! It was only an hours drive to Yosemite and to come back from a long day hiking to be welcomed like you’re home from home was amazing! we also met a couple of lovely people on their stays too, it was nice to socialise and see where people had been and share what to do in the area! I Would thoroughly recommend this place and we will hopefully be back again! :-)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice hosts. Peaceful place. Near to Yosemite.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a really nice stay at the lodge. We had a shared bathroom but that was only with another room and we got on well with the other person. The lodge is old and nice and the garden well furnished. Part of the lodge outside was being repaired/worked on. The breakfast was good and convivial, all at the same table. We didn't try the dinner there but it looked amazing. Adam was very friendly and he even showed us a nice spot for stargazing.
Cons: The lodge is maybe a bit far from Yosemite (1h20 from the valley) but we knew that and it makes it very peaceful and quiet so that is actually a positive :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful host! He created the most perfect ambience. We thought we would go back to the room after hiking yosemite and have nothing to do, but we were very wrong. The backyard was decorated with fire torches, cute tables and sitting to enjoy the complimentary wine, soothing music playing, and other fun/romantic lights and seats. The host also gave us blankets and flashlights for stargazing in a nearby field. The breakfast spread was fantastic - yogurts, fruits, eggs, and spreads for toast. We got back too late to have the purchasable dinner, but it smelt amazing and other guests raved about it. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very well decorated. I do not understand why anyone would say to "stay away" from this location. The host could not be any more accommodating. It did take us 2 hours to get to yosemite, but the hotels right in the park were ridiculously expensive, and the lodges in the small towns on the way seem creepy. Staying here was worth the drive. With all of that being said, you are staying in a B&B. I feel the people who write negative reviews forget that. I, personally, loved and appreciated the home that was created for us. PS. there is a great BBQ place 1 minute away if you were like us and missed the dinner option. Happy hiking! :)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and quiet location Kind staff
Cons: Bathroom needs to be renewed Dinner at the hotel is a bit too expensive

5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice location next to an entrance to Yosemite
Cons: The room was not nice, it shakes when people walk nearby inside the cottage, it is next to the kitchen so smells go into the room, the bed and pillows were not comfortable.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Price comparing to relatives
Cons: We had some bugs in our bed. The bathroom was not clean enough. Some wierd signs in the receptions (do not accept this, do not accept that) a little bit agressive for first impression
4.5 Okay
Pros: Good location
Cons: To start there is no mention on the website that if you book a 2 person room that you will be in separate house up the road from the actual hostel. Not that big of a deal, but still would have been nice to know ahead of time. The main problem was the the room, it had 2 beds and both beds had dirt in them, but on of the beds was significantly worse. It had a lot of dirt and hair in it, and possible some bugs. My friend and I ended up sharing a bed, because the second bed was so dirty. It looked like it had been slept in already. Also, there were ants in the room.
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Room was dirty and awkward.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfy
Cons: The electricity was very unreliable so at some points left without power and wifi. There were ants in the room. There was only one bathroom for everyone in the building so often quite a wait to use it. 1 hour 15 minute drive to yosemite valley. In general very expensive for what is provided. I would recommend other people visiting yosemite to book accomodation well in advance to get better accomodation nearer to the park.
4.5 Okay
Pros: the place was full of spiders, inside and outside
Cons: the spider infestation
6.8 Good
Pros: It was very close to other things in the town and had a decent equiped kitchen.
Cons: Nobody seems to vacuum under the beds and there was a really old chewing gum lying on my side by the power sockets. The dish sponge hadn’t been changed in a while and was really gross.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It’s a hostel. Can not expect much. The price is a little bit expensive for the facilities
Cons: Noisy, not a good choice if you want to have a rest. But maybe a good choice if you want to meet people.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The pizzeria and the bar next door are really nice .
Cons: We slept there just one night but there were bed bugs in this place and my husband woke up with series of bites on both his arms like he has had chicken pox over the night. We were so stressed all day long, had to book a hotel for three nights in SFO as we couldn't go back to our friends place who was hosting us. One night in this hostel costed us more than 500$ for which we are not happy. The receptionist did return the money for the one night stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Roomy and comfortable bedroom plus good kitchen with adequate appliances
Cons: Unfortunately little black ants in bedroom
5.8 Okay
Cons: There were ants all over my room, even in my bed at night.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Cost is not that high (35$ for bunkbed)
Cons: No light in shower room outside a building No Credit card payment allowed (sad) No food/complimentary stuff (not even towel)
