The price is a great price. Nice staff. Always have coffee and tea available. The bar in the basement is convient.
If you have more than two people in a room you are charged an additional $20 a day per person which isn't disclosed until checkout. The hot tub looks like it needs cleaned out and the temperature needs adjusted.
Staff super friendly and facilities were clean
hot tub and pool could use a little renovating
winner!
2nd year in a row we've stayed here last minute and for under$100. breakfast had a wide variety that satiated most diet needs; not bad for a *free* breakfast.
nothing that i can think of
The hotel was clean, the location convenient. Years ago it was beautiful. It's still adequate, but no better than a chain hotel. Very quiet, plenty of parking. Nice social spaces, although there were only 5 people in the whole hotel. Good low price on the room.
All of the few amenities were closed. No pool, no hot tub. Although the web site said they offered pub food for dinner there was no dinner service. Breakfast did not start until 7:30; not useful for a business visit. Great fireplace, but wasn't lit. Outside entry doors were convenient but were very drafty. Poor heat control; could not turn it down. There appeared to be no more than one staff person there. Furniture was mismatched.
It's OK.
Well it is an older hotel and had that musty smell. The pool was out of order due to a ceiling beam failure over the pool. We were disappointed, the indoor pool was a major draw for us staying during mid March. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was better than I had expected. Overall a decent stay but next time we'll stay close to Woodstock where there is more to do. If staying here though go to the sugar and spice restaurant down the road for lunch! It was amazing!
Smell Pool out of order. Far from Vermont (non-ski) attraction
Eventful trip
The staff was super friendly and the open area for the kids and ability to mingle was great. There were cookies in the afternoon and the breakfast was good.
- we had a chimney fire which freaked us out but then the staff never said another word to us about it - we had a leak into our room from a rain storm but they moved us right away - there were several leaks in the roof where water was coming into the pool and no one did anything - pool was too cold and hot tub too hot (scalding at times) - 15 to 20 min drive to Killington K1 and other bases Would I stay again? Probably not, too many bad memories.
charms your pants off
i used KAYAK to book an inexpensive (but not TOO much so), last-minute (hours before) room on our way up to ski. at the price level above bottom-tier, i braced myself for the worst. From the moment we pulled up (easy on the eyes),we experienced the most delightful staff, and the loveliest night's sleep, albeit, briefly. the vibe is homey, and relaxed; maybe it's the holiday season getting to me, but if allowed the time, it's ideal for a romantic (cozy) getaway. We woke up late, but the free breakfast spread was generous!
The pool was amazing!
Beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious and all toiletries, including toothpaste, was provided.
AC does not work so room was incredibly hot all night. Although the fan works, it only blew room temperature air despite adjusting both the thermostat and unit setting to cool. Check in experience was poor; front desk was un-staffed. We called as instructed to request for assistance, but no one answered the phone- still had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to show up and check us in. Male staff member that checked us in was less than friendly.
Location was decent but that's about it.
Run down appearance. Carpets threadbare in places. Pool looked murky and uninviting. Heat went off in the middle of the night.
Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was great, hot tub was being repared. Wi Fi coverage was good, altthough speed was a little slow.
TV had poor reception and not many channels (Dish TV)
Leaving it.
Itis not a hotel.
Friendly and attentive room cleaning staff.
It was relatively quiet since it was off-season. Room was good size.
Hotel is in dire need of renovations. Mattress was old and not very comfortable (at least 30 years old). Room furnishings are old and show signs of wear and tear. Bathroom is old and dated. Everything in the hotel is from the 60's era and needs a major overhaul. For some strange reason (the hotel was empty!), I was given a room in a wing where they were replacing the carpeting in the corridors. The smell in the corridor and dust was extremely unpleasant. This is NOT good customer service and gave a very bad impression of the facility.

Would like to see breakfast included. Hotel needs a face lift. Exercise equipment from 1960?
