Quite a big room with a nice view.
Disinterested staff, creaky plumbing, old and tired fixtures and fittings. Slow wifi. Expensive and poor value. Could be a lot better, or cheaper
Free coffee, tea, soft cream 24/7 and even welcoming dessert when checked in. The location: by the Lake, within the main attraction area, things are located in walking distance!
Staff is not service oriented, no smiling, no offering info for tourist's unless asking. Assigned me a washitsu that didn't know until I open the door. I prefer a yoshitsu due to knee problems.
The surrounding was very serene. The unspoilt forest was just next to the hotel. Took a walk into the forest and chanced upon a group of deers grazing around. Beautiful experience for me. There was also a foot bath nearby the hotel - really relaxing for our tired feet! Plenty of souvenir shops right next to the hotel. When we checked out of the hotel, the staff gave us some local biscuits to take along. There were also free flow of coffee and ice cream at the lounge. Arigatogozaimashita!
The inside onsen is convenient and the view from the window was nice. Beds were very comfortable.
It was noisy at night (due to other guests and the nearby night show). Very difficult to explain to hotel staff my questions as they don’t speak English. I asked to eat a paid dinner at the hotel as it was pouring with rain outside and was refused. The hotel restaurant was open and they told me it was closed. When I asked about recommended restaurant the representative gave me a map with a “fuck off” attitude. I did not feel welcome at all due to this event.
The room I received was very big by Japanese hotel standards, and the view of the edge of the lake and forest was perfect. Staff were pleasant, breakfast buffet plentiful. In a town this small there are no bad locations.
Smokers!! It flows through the air ducts particularly in the bathroom. First thing in the morning and again after dinner the room begin to smell like an ashtray. Nothing the staff can do, it’s the building design and permissive smoking policies.
