Loved the ambiance and character of the hotel. Very friendly bartenders and helpful young man at the front desk who took us into town in the golf cart :). Short waking distance to downtown Lake Geneva! Would definitely stay again!!!
We were sad the Speak Easy was closed on Sunday nights, we were looking forward to checking it out :( Loved our room (Grant Suite) but wished there was a shower as the bath tub didn't have a curtain.

The bed was very comfortable. The shower had a temperature setting and various shower heads. There was also a steam shower, it was great. The room was clean and there were refrigerated bottles of water for free by the pool. The bartender was great, made any drink you could think of and was very creative.
They have a golf cart that they will take you to and pick you up from various location down town, it would have been nice to know that at check in vs the evening before we left.

Maxwell Mansion 1856 is a luxury boutique hotel that is about 10 minutes from downtown Lake Geneva. The hotel offers a number of guest rooms with free WiFi, flat screen TVs, fireplaces, and other amenities. Many rooms feature beautiful garden views. Maxwell Mansion 1856 was the very first mansion built in Lake Geneva, a longtime home to socialites and dignitaries of all kinds. The Maxwell Estate features century-old oak trees, stunning landscaped gardens, outdoor fireplaces and lounge areas, a heated pool, and six mansion rooms to choose from. Guest rooms include private baths and are available in the main Mansion as well as the Carriage House & Stable Suites. The Stables have upgraded suites with heated floors, steam showers, and plenty of amenities. The rooms feature modern amenities with historic charm and sophistication.
