There you can gamble, golf and drink a-plenty, as well as head out on the nearby river with Watercraft Adventures. While you’re in town, don’t miss a visit to Laughlin Labyrinths and Oatman Ghost Town, a one-time gold-mining town. If you need to get around, I recommend using the River Passage Water Taxi, which stops all along the river, as well as at the famous casinos. Although there are no fancy or luxury hotels in town, the best hotels in Laughlin are a mix of old-school casino properties and a few well-known brand names. Be prepared for oodles of fun in the sun, and some of the best people-watching in the world. It’s nothing fancy, but it is a whole lot of fun. Here’s my pick of the best hotels to stay in Laughlin.

If you want to stay at a classic, fun hotspot, this is one of the best hotels in Laughlin to book. It was built in 1966 and today boasts over 1,400 rooms. I recommend booking a room with a balcony overlooking the desert mountains.

The hotel is attached to the casino and offers so much on-site entertainment you might not even leave the property. There’s a celebrity theatre that offers all kinds of shows, a six-screen movie theatre and the famed poker room, which has a large rear window offering fantastic views over the Colorado River.

I also recommend asking about the hotel’s yacht, the U.S.S. Riverside, which is available for charter. One of my other highlights is the Classic Car Museum, which is a free exhibition of antique and classic cars, trucks and motorcycles (my favourite is the Steve McQueen bike).

With over 300 rooms, this is a down-to-earth place right on the river bank. It’s one of the best hotels in Laughlin for those travelling with friends. If you’re looking to splurge, book their Gold Rush three-bedroom villa, which has a courtyard with a gas fire pit plus a spa for a little me-time.

In terms of eating at the casino, it’s got it all, from Saltgrass Steak House to the classic Widow Maker Burger at CJ’s. This is the place to come to let your hair down and have a good time – and trust me when I say the nightlife at the Rush lounge will not disappoint.

I spent most of my time enjoying the desert air at the pool, which I loved for a spot of sunbathing and splashing around. It’s also worth asking the concierge about the fun desert trips in off-road vehicles (UTVs) with OUI Experience.

This Holiday Inn is set right across the river on the Arizona side. If you want to be a little away from the main strip, this is one of the best hotels in Laughlin and the surrounding area to book. It’s an airport property that’s also very close to Riverview Golf Course and the Mohave Crossroads Shopping Center.

There’s a range of guestrooms and one- and two-bedroom suites, all with microwaves and fridges for added convenience. There are plenty of amenities, too, and although the hotel is nothing fancy, it’s well-kept and inexpensive. I love the heated indoor pool, which is great in the evenings when the desert cools right down.

This little gem is located right on the gorgeous Colorado River. It’s one of the best hotels in Laughlin if you’re after remodelled rooms and a sprawling palace with no resort fees. Out of their vast selection of rooms, I recommend going for a suite, as they’re very well priced and come with plenty of extra space.

If you’re feeling peckish, head down to Feathers Café for something casual like a burger. My favourite part of this hotel is its white-sand beachfront on the river, where you can laze in the sun and watch the boats racing by.

There’s a selection of slot machines and table games at the hotel, so if you’re interested in betting, you’re in the right place. Right across the river from the resort is the Mojave Crossing Event Center, where you can catch everything from rodeos and monster truck extravaganzas to high-flying motorcycle stunt jumping.

This is the largest gaming resort in Laughlin, and it also happens to be non-smoking. Here you’ll find over 1,900 rooms and suites to choose from, as well as a gigantic casino. This is one of the best hotels in Laughlin for lovers of gambling, with all the newest slot machines on-site.

But the hotel also offers plenty of dining options, like Duet Coffee and Wine for an evening nightcap or the River Rock for pizza, pasta and so much more. Since locals get all kinds of special offers at this hotel and casino, lots of folks from town come to hang out here – so it’s a great place to meet some friendly neighbours and have a chat.

I also recommend asking the concierge for top tips about the nearby nature trails for a hike.

If you prefer to be on the Arizona side closer to the Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport (IFP), this is one of the best hotels in Laughlin and the surrounding area. It’s no-frills, but it’s a great option for those travelling on a budget.

There are a few on-site amenities I love, like the complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi and outdoor pool – perfect for cooling off in the desert heat. Rooms are basic but clean and well-appointed. If you’re travelling with family or a larger group, ask for an adjoining room. The hotel is also very focused on accessibility, and staff are especially trained to assist with any special requests.

If you’re travelling with pets, there’s nothing better than taking your pup for a walk at Bullhead City Community Park, as we did, or going for a stroll along the landscaped Colorado River Walk.

This casino hotel is set on the West Bank of the Colorado River. Although it’s not particularly luxurious, the contemporary rooms are perfect for a weekend of fun and games. If you’re after a room with a view, request one in the Sedona Tower, which overlooks the river.

This is one of the best hotels in Laughlin if you’re after live entertainment, as it’s home to top-tier venues like the L.A. Comedy Club, the award-winning Laughlin Event Center and the Edge Pavilion (formerly the E Center).

But my favourite thing at this hotel has to be the lively arcade, which is on the river level next to Stockman's Steakhouse. There you’ll find all the old-school games I love, including thrilling car races and dance challenges.

If you’re looking to make some great desert river memories, this is the spot to book. The Tropicana Laughlin has a host of over 1,450 newly refreshed rooms with free early check-ins, making it perfect for a weekend getaway.

I highly recommend booking a West Deluxe King – just make sure you ask for one with river views. This is one of the best hotels in Laughlin for golf lovers, as the property works with five of the area's finest 18-hole courses: Laughlin Ranch, Mojave Resort, Los Lagos, Huukan and El Rio Country Club. Ask the concierge for more information.

As part of Caesars Entertainment, this property participates in the Caesars Rewards program, which may be useful if you've just come from (or are heading to) Las Vegas.
