Gorgeous view made up for lack of private bathroom
We did not enjoy our stay at the Regina. The hotel has a very "institutional" feel. It was very loud. The hall corridors and rooms are tile, and there is a terrible echo from other doors, people, etc. The staff was not at all friendly or welcoming. For the same price you can go down the street to the Hotel Alpina and receive warm and welcoming service and a quiet room.
The room view is excellent and it does reflect from the hotel website. The breakfast room view is good too and it just like a picture with a window frame which is impressive.
The toilet facilities is newly renovated whereas the room appearance is very old which does not match with each other. Perhaps we arrived late and the front desk was off and we searched around for the hotel staff and walking through the dark area made us scary and this may give a negative impact to the overall stay.
The views out of our south-facing room was spectacular, the hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was good and served out of a nice dining room with mountain views.
The wireless internet doesn't reach the rooms, it's only in the lobby. But this didn't prove much of an inconvenience anyway...
Former grand hotel. Rooms very simple but very clean. Shared or nonshared baths.Half pension in grand dining room facing Alps was European highlight: extraordinarily fine food beautifully presented.
Wonderful location, easy to find and close to hiking and town. Spectacular views!
The hotel was too expensive for what it offered (shared bathroom, older facilities, etc.). Internet in lobby only.
The room was good and the view from the balcony was brilliant. The room and the bathroom (we had to share) were clean
The breakfast was not good, 4 slices of old bread in a basket and if we wanted an egg, we had to pay extra. We wanted to change our reservarion but that was not possible. In the evening we couldn't find any staff in the hotel. The hotel was nog cheap and than we expext a much better breakfast and service.
Although there are more expensive rooms, shared bathroom was a clearly stated option in the reservation system. The room was renovated, but still retained some of its charm, like the locking mechanisms on the doors. Old Old World European elegance with a view of the Alps. We had stayed at a lot of contemporary-styled hotels and this just felt different, particularly the breakfast. Lovely dining room and deck looking right out onto the Alps. Just soaked in the feel during our breakfast, we loved it here. Emailed in advance that we would have a late check in and they were very accomodating to our needs.
Friendly staff.
It is good belle epoque style. You just imagine maing some great mountain holidays some 100 years ago. The view is beautiful
Breakfast was nice and the view from the breakfast room was wonderful; linens were clean; this is a very old hotel
Did not know that we reserved a room with twin beds and no bathroom; bathroom was down the hall; no person at the desk when we arrived; & young man was not very kind when we found him at the bar; There are many other options in the wonderful town of Murren which are much better, but we could not get out of our original reservations.
