I would never stay at this property again. To start from arriving at the hostel, it’s difficult to find it, there are no clear marks, except for a small sign all the way up. Then, there is no way to enter the building. We very lucky we managed to get in the building because there was another couple staying in a different hostel, and they let us in. When we arrived in front of Estrella, there is a kind of a bell on the door l, which you press and it functions like a phone call. We kept calling and calling, but nobody answered. Finally, we were forced to call the phone number which was glued to the door. We do not have a Spanish sim card, so this was a huge charge to our phone bill. A woman who answered the call does not speak a word of English, she doesn’t even know the numbers. She kept yelling and even swearing, until we finally managed to understand her enough to get the code and get in the hostel. However, this was not the end. In front of our room was another box with a code that we have to put in, to open the box and get the room key. So once again, the woman kept saying something in Spanish and yelling. Basically, travelers have to somehow get in the building, then they have no other option but to call the phone number and try to understand the Spanish speaking woman until they get all of the codes needed to get in, which means a huge phone bill for international travelers. Also, the room was stuffy, the door of the balcony is extremely difficult to open. The AC kept leaking inside the room, and we had to use half of the towels provided to put under it, otherwise the room would have flooded. Nobody cleaned the room during the 3 days we were there. We had to take out our own trash. Another thing that was extremely unprofessional-the owner asked to send them a picture of the passport to their what’s app. We will definitely never stay there again, it is just not worth it.
Can't really think of anything.
This place is very rundown, the air conditioning did not work, and because of a transom window and the light in the hall, it remained pretty bright in the room even when I was trying to get to sleep. Worst of all I discovered pretty quickly that the room I had been given was crawling with bedbugs. I ultimately decided to just leave, even though I had already paid for another two nights.
The Location was perfect!!
The check-in process was a nightmare!
There was no one there it let me in when I arrived so i was waiting outside in 40 degree heat, just ringing the bell for 10 mins with no answer. I called them on the phone and they didn't speak any English at all. Eventually I got in by tailgating someone into the building then I got my Spanish speaking friend to call them and get the code to the inner door. If I hadn't known a fluent Spanish speaker who could call them for me, I wouldn't have been able to get in. I got the keys from the room, went out and tried to come back late that night... The front door key didn't work. I was locked out for an hour at 1am! Again no one to let me in and the people on the phone just kept saying something in Spanish and hanging up on me. They sent me a name and number over WhatsApp so I called that, no answer. Eventually this person texted back, they're an English speaking translator for the hostal. Again, I tailgated in and the person on the phone gave me a code for the inner door. The cleaner the next day explained there was a 'trick' to using the key, and showed me how it worked. I only found this out because i heard her outside the room, so went out to ask if I could have another key to the front door, because I couldn't leave for fear that I couldn't get back in! Other customers had the same problem, I was woken up many times with people ringing the bell frantically because they couldn't get in. The hosts have zero interest in customers being able to get in. If they charge me full price for this after I spent hours on the street outside, I will be really livid.
Not clean, no reception, staff bad, no staff speak english, time to get the key not clear
