Overview
The Mammoth Mountain Inn is a classic mountain ski lodge with a laid-back vibe and excellent slopes. The cabin-cozy scene and fantastic mountain views attract a variety of ski enthusiasts, but the year-round attractions also bring plenty of tour groups who are visiting Yosemite National Park.
The Inn is located at the base of Mammoth Mountain, with a gondola on-site for guests to ski-in/ski-out on several runs. A couple of popular eateries are across the street and 13 minutes away either by car or the hotel’s free shuttle, is Mammoth Lakes offering shops, restaurants, and nightlife.
The hotel offers plenty of amenities, with the convenient gondola being the highlight. In addition to the access, there’s equipment rentals, ski valet services, and life ticket sales. There are a full-service restaurant on-site serving American cuisine and a lovely bar with mountain views. For a relaxing evening, there’s a large, heated outdoor pool and whirlpool on an expansive patio, plus three indoor whirlpools, a sauna. And a small fitness center. A general store at the hotel offers breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, soups, souvenirs, and clothing. For children, there is also a video game room on-site.
Accommodations at the Mammoth Mountain Inn are spacious, pleasant, and offer amenities convenient enough for a comfortable stay. All rooms feature mini-fridges, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi. Pros (+) Check in was quick and easy. Staff was nice and efficient. Bed was very comfortable.
Cons (-) The bath/shower was chipping paint and the toilet backed and sink backed up.
Cons (-) I was bitten by bed bugs. Would not recommend I saw only one staff member my entire stay. The only thing good about this hotel was the breakfast.
