Las Cabañas Encantadas de Nindirí - Masaya - Building

8.7 Excellent (81 reviews)
C$ 78+
Overview Reviews
Las Cabañas Encantadas de Nindirí is an apart-hotel located on the Managua-Masaya Highway with an unparalleled view of the Masaya Lagoon. The lush environment, respect for nature and beautiful landscaping are features that set it apart. There are three fully furnished log cabins outfitted for short or long stays. Tucked away on a private part of the property, is The Mirador – a spacious room with a large terrace and a Jacuzzi-size pool, overlooking the lagoon. There is 24/7 security, free WiFi and parking available on site, as well as a variety of restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations nearby. The cabins are fully equipped for preparing your own meals and there are nearby restaurants that provide delivery. Masaya, Granada and the White Villages of the Carazo Plateau are famous tourist destinations within a short driving distance of our site. You can also make day trips to San Juan del Sur and other popular beaches and nearby lagoons. The property is only a 15-minutes drive from Managua and 30 minutes from the Augusto César Sandino International Airport.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Las Cabanas website – and booking.com description says: “There are three cabins fully furnished as apartments, complete with air conditioning, television, hot water in the shower, ceiling fan, sofa bed in the living room and kitchen with appliances and utensils. The three cabins have balconies with hammocks and chairs overlooking Lake Masaya. There is free Wi-Fi service and daily housekeeping is included.” I’m in Cabin Number 1. It is NOT overlooking Lake Masaya. It is overlooking trees. I have absolutely NO view of Lake Masaya. There is air conditioning in the Bedroom only. Ad says “complete with air conditioning” – that’s not true. The furniture throughout and all the kitchen appliances/utensils are old and worn out. The Television must be at least 20 years old – it’s a CRT TV which I haven’t seen for ten years in any country I’ve visited. The picture and reception are terrible. There was no hot water in the shower, or anywhere else in the Cabin. The Cabin's surfaces were full of dirt and stains and there was someone else’s food crumbs on the floor. When I arrived the woman at Reception had no trace of my reservation. She was abrupt and very unhelpful. When I tried to pay, the Credit Card payment Machine didn’t work. When I offered to pay cash the Receptionist carried out a foreign exchange calculation into Cordobas at some unofficial rate scribbled on a bit of paper. When I offered to pay in US$ she tried to give me Cordobas as change once again at some unofficial rate scribbled on a scrap of paper. Then she tried to palm me off with Canadian coins. I was not able to park my car in a secure place where I could see it, even though you have a road right by Cabin 1. Instead it’s out of my sight, but visible to anyone passing along the main highway. Overall Cabin 1 was a MAJOR dissatisfaction. It is NOT worth US$50. It’s not even worth half of that. The Cabins may have been lovely 20 years ago, but they are seriously showing their age.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent view and kitchen
Cons: Someone left salt in the sugar bowl....whoops!

Pros: Outdoor and the place was excellent
Cons: NA
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great spot to visit Vulcan Masaya. Accommodation is very comfortable. Staff is trustworthy. They let us pay to much (we didn't know) but they gave us the money back without us knowing it. No hussle at all. Helpt us was our car as well. Great view over the Masaya lake Love this place!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Its tranquil and quite, great place to rest
Cons: No pool and the one on the picture is extremely small and restricted for a cabin rental. the place is simple, nothing else to do other than stay in your cabin.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This place was absolutely stunning. The cabins themselves are spacious and fully furnished with everything you need to be self-sustained. Very clean too. Now the views... Are truly amazing. It overlooks the mountains, volcanos and lagoon, which are breathtaking. It feels as though you have them all to yourself. Location is great too, right on the highway between Managua and Masaya. Highly recommended for all kinds of travelers who are willing to trade some luxury for a truly unique experience.
Cons: The only thing that is worth warning is that there is not always hot water available for showering. I took this as part of the experience and didn't really mind, but I'm sure you can ask about the schedule and plan accordingly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view! ! The apartment was very well organised. You could easily stay there for more nights, if you have your own transport.
Cons: The swimming pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people here went above and beyond for us, they always got back to my e-mails quickly and were so helpful. The room was much nicer than we were expecting, such good value for money. We had a beautiful view over the lagoon and we had a lovely evening sitting on our balcony looking at the view. It's so silent and peaceful there especially considering how close to a main road you are! I can't fault these people and would recommend it to anyone.
Cons: The road outside the place is very busy and doesn't have a pavement, so you can't really walk anywhere. Taxis are pretty common though, just make sure you decide on a price before you get in!
6.7 Good
Pros: View, great size, comfortable, relaxed setting, location nearby many points of touristic interest
Cons: Owners don’t speak a word English, but that would be still ok. The location was horrible, as it’s located just next to main and very frequented road (I didn’t have an idea it’s such a big and noisy road, my bad), so I couldn’t sleep most of the night because of traffic noice. Airconditioning too loud too. And water waste was extremely stinking quite often. It has just devaluated the pretty property with such astonishing views, sorry:(

Pros: Place, people and location is awesome.
Cons: Getting there at night can be challenging
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing. A magic interior design
5.0 Okay
Pros: The nature and the lake are well worth the trip. The spaciousness of the room and the view is great. The AC worked well, it was nice to have cable TV for the night time and the mattress was comfy.
Cons: The place is run down and for the price it’s very expensive. Many beautiful tropical plants but the garden area and plants need some love. It’s like staying in a noisy party hostel but more pricy. Unfortunately the staff do not control the bar/pool hours. Unfortunately there were drunk guests arguing and swimming till late. We didn’t have a peaceful sleep. The pillows are hard. The shower has live electric wires and the shower head is a hard stream not easy to take a shower. There are holes in the bathroom floor and you can see to the down stairs room. The nachos were not authentic with processed cheese and store bought chips. We sat at the same table for dinner when we arrived for breakfast it was still dirty from the night before. Too many property dogs in the restaurant begging for food although we arrived with a dog we respected the community spaces. We didn’t dare enter the pool area, it’s in need of some maintenance and an update.
6.7 Good
Pros: Breakfast was the same every day, but served fresh and delicious. The lake was lovely and easy to access. The staff was friendly and attentive once you got their attention. The beer was cold.
Cons: Peeling paint on the ceiling of our room, the towel rack in the bathroom was broken, not all of the light switches worked. We were disappointed that the facilities weren't as nice as the pictures depicted. No beach towels provided. No hammocks down by the lake. Food was good one night and the same dish wasn't good the next night. Didn't feel as if the facilities were worth the amount of money we paid. Sometimes it was difficult to tell who was on staff and, even if they were, whether they were working or not. We heard some kind of critter in the decorative bamboo wall in our room - glad that happened on the last day as it would have been hard to sleep wondering what might come out of the wall! No wine or sangria available.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing this is the worse place you can stay the country is beautiful but this place is a complete scam nothing they offer is true.
Cons: I rent 2 rooms and both of them where a lie the rooms where dirty the pool look like it was never clean it had green slime on the bottom after the lights when out in a power outrage and it was the whole night the mosquitoes where terrible we didn’t sleep all night if you want to throw away your money go head and stay here the food it’s horrible.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing!!! All the staff were kind, really good customer service. Beside my partner I took my dog with me, the hotel is pet friendly, this is a plus! :) The room was pretty good, the view really nice. Everything was great. The artesanal pizza was delicious! :)
Cons: As an advise, just double check if everything is ready and clean (terrace) before the guest arrives, other than that, no issues at all :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice and helpful staff, and very cool accommodations.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The staff was very very sweet.
Cons: The accommodations were very uncomfortable and not at all how they appeared in the pictures. It was myself, my husband, our friend and her 9 year old son. We were ‘upgraded’ to a better and roomier house called ‘Club House’. It was absolutely terrible, built from plywood that was falling apart, dirty, broken screens, furniture, beds. We were very happy to have booked only one night and didn’t complain only because the local staff was very very sweet and it is definitely not their fault that the owners rent such an unpleasant and run down accommodations. I am not very picky, but I would absolutely rate the accommodations as not fit for any stay and incredibly overpriced. I wouldn’t stay there again even if it was free, but I think maybe charging $10 a night for 4 would be a fair price, but not $69. For that price you can stay in way way better places on the Lagoon. I truly wish I had better things to say, but unfortunately I really do not. The Lagoon is as pretty as always no matter where you stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extraordinarily. 5 stars!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Nice little beach with paddle boards and kayaks. Food it good at the restaurant. Helpful staff that can arrange anything for you. Easy to find. Good value for area.
Cons: The beach bar wasn't set up yet. Other than that everything was as expected

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a great retreat for a few days. The property is as described, with a great volcano shoe every night and friendly staff. It is remote and small, 6 rooms maybe, so if that is not your speed you may find this too isolated.
Cons: Other guests during our stay had a constant need to use there phones on speaker and watch TV on them without headphones. Destroyed the ambiance and likely am exception.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the place, but I want to be clear that this is a remote location that takes some doing to reach-Google maps can lead you wrong, so either have the Hacienda staff come and get you, or hire a taxi whose driver is willing to talk to locals to get you the last few kilometers. We did the latter, and it worked well. The property is beautiful, overlooks a lake, has a pool, and plenty of hammocks, and has an open air bar where guests hang out and chat with each other before the family style meals. We were really comfortable and relaxed while we were there, and enjoyed the excursion to the volcano and dinner out that the hotel set up for us and other guests.
Cons: Really don't have anything bad to say about this place, but there were normal inconveniences of a small boutique hotel in a remote location in Nicaragua: We needed a few water bottles in our room after we arrived back at the hotel after the excursion, but the bar had closed, so we made due til the morning, and we weren't able to get a massage because we looked into it too late, and she had booked up. These are small things that didn't have a big impact on our overall enjoyment, but something to keep in mind for future guests: make sure to book your excursions beforehand and stock up on water when the bar is open!
4.6 Okay
Pros: The view is definitely the best thing to mention. The staff is friendly.
Cons: In general this is average or poor. This is called Eco Lodge &Spa, but we did not see much of 'Eco', and Spa is actually inexisting besides of the possibility to have a massage in your room, one by one. Food was poor, not even a juice at breakfast and lunch was once just some chicken soup. The staff (friendly guys) recommands not to take jewelry, watch, phone or camera when going outside the gate. Cleaning was just renewing the towels and make up the bed. Tours with the hotel are too expensive, they are even cheaper when booking with the best operators from Granada, who needs to come all the way. Everything here is about money: You even have to purchase the water to brush your teeth. Complimentary meals are lost when booking a tour and you are not back at 12 for lunch or 7 PM for dinner.
5.8 Okay
Pros: This is an exceptional location. The view is amazing and there is everything on site to make your stay enjoyable.
Cons: This place is ran to make money. They are cutting on quality and maintenance of infrastructure. An all inclusive place with only one choice of meal (and only one service, i.e. no appetizers, no desert, ect.) is in my mind not acceptable. Also, quality of food is only acceptable, not great at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the expansive and remote location and our Casita was entirely comfortable. I especially loved the beds and soft pillows which ensured a good night's rest. The staff was awesome seeing to our every need and cooking homemade meals for us. Truly loved the entire layout and comfort. I will definitely be returning.

6.3 Good
Pros: Big room, amazing view, clean room and good aircon.
Cons: W had to pay extra to use the kayacks and it was more expensive than the other hostel close to it. At the other hostel the kayakcs where free to use and a better restaurant, and ewerything was included. The restaurant was not good for a big resort like this, and there was so few guest there, like a ghost town. The staff was not wery friendly or interested in helping with anything. We stayed one night and planned to relax by the pool the whole day, but we decided to go to the hostel close buy instead to enjoy a place where we felt more welcome.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the lake, it was just amazing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Entire house to ourselves (secluded) Perfectly quiet Hammock Great views Free shuttle within property Great A/C in room Kitchen appliances & refrigerator Delicious breakfast Large bathtub
Cons: Mosquitos in the house (needed mosquito nets & bug spray) Expensive taxis & drinks No choice in getting your own taxi No other restaurants close by except @ resort No A/C in living room & kitchen area Cold water in shower Food isn’t great (better to buy food at market to cook instead) Terrible restaurant workers & bar staff @ salida del sol (racial bias towards customers)
7.5 Good
Pros: Breathtaking views from own terrace. Large room, nicely furnished. Good breakfast buffet.
Cons: New year's eve, and the restaurant closed at 11 pm! Many rules and restrictions concerning the premises. No hair dryer, not even at request. Tiny pool, the sun shone at the lake shore just till 2 pm.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the lake. We had a good dinner there and the included breakfast was very good as well.
Cons: It was a huge property on the side of a mountain. The shuttle service was convenient and necessary - no way one could walk to the lake or Cafe on their own.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: Two hours after checking-in time the room wasn't ready, dirty room, unpolite and not helpful staffs at the front desk, WiFi didn,t work properly
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Apoyo Resort is gorgeous. The natural beauty of the Laguna always blows me away. We stayed in a private villa and saw monkeys, squirrels, and hundreds of birds from our deck. Our villa was beautiful, decorated with a lot of local art, fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary amenities to cook. They have transportation up the mountain for you because the hill is very steep. The water in the lake is wonderful. It's nice to take a dip there or in one of the resort's pools. The lakeside restaurant and the Salida del Sol restaurant have delicious food.
Cons: This is my third visit to this property. The biggest complaint is the organization of the restaurants. There is a pizza restaurant I have not been able to try because it has been closed every time I there it is closed. And the front desk staff don't seem to be certain about the restaurant's status when you ask. The restaurant at the lake edge closes at 6, which seems strange. The other one stays open til 10 I think. Both are delicious, but sometimes may serve something slightly different from what you order. Breakfast is free at the Salida del Sol, we think. We didn't have to pay the first day, and got a predetermined plate of food. The second day, we were given menus and ordered pancakes and an omelette. Delicious! But they had prices on the menu, so we asked for the bill and he went away for a while and came back and told us we didn't have to pay. Strange. You may also hear bats in your ceiling. Don't be too worried, they are eating all the mosquitoes to help your experience be better in that way.
7.5 Good
Pros: The bed was nice and big, location was great and there was a complimentary shuttle up and down the resort because it is huge.
Cons: There was a lack of information provided about the facilitates so we did not recognize what was there until it was too late. Nice place but a bit pricey.
7.5 Good
Pros: No activities available like web site said. Food very marginal....
Cons: View and the heat of the water...
5.0 Okay
Pros: Hot water,nice pool,big rooms,AC
Cons: Dishonest and unfriendly staff, no wifi in the rooms, 15-20 min walk from the first bar/restaurant/beach, kayak/beers/softs/food 3times the price of any other place ( they assure you that it's the only option in the area !! )

Pros: Pool was pleasant and very clean. Breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Our bathroom toilet had continuing problems including not flushing and leakage of water which pooled on the floor. It was mopped up once by staff. We had to use our bath towels on another occasion. When we asked for another bath towel each we were refused. The air conditioner in our room was extremely loud which made sleeping impossible even with ear plugs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very secure gated property, which gave us good peace of mind. Just a 2-3 minute walk from the Masaya markets. Nice big room that was very clean, nice breakfast and an extremely helpful gentleman on the front desk. They also provided secure gated parking. Definitely recommend. Don't miss the Masaya volcano that is only a 10-15min drive from the property.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: The pool was nice and clean
Cons: Having to press the buzzer for entry
5.8 Okay
Cons: It wasn't possible to keep our big luggage in a safe place until 5 pm. 2pm was the maximum !!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good beds, all installation very clean and I feel safe.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Rude staff. Feels like a prison, helicopter owner who unlocks gate every time you go in and out and asks what time you will be coming back and where you are going. Run down property, wall AC unit was throwing ice on guest head while sleeping. Tiny and cramped rooms. Initially provided one towel for 5 guests. Staff entered room every time we left to check on room. Owner asked staff to go inside room before all guests were out to count towels and make sure nothing was missing. Worst hotel experience so far.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. AdvIce on dining etc. excellent. Staff excellent. Perfect for the budget conscious flash packer. Not much support for the alien tourist in Masaya, but Ivanias is working hard to build a welcoming situation. Safe area for after hours wandering. Save some money and stay here instead of Granada.
Cons: Nothing negative to say.
