10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a beautiful setting. The patio area is open to the beach and is just gorgeous. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was perfect and the bed comfortable. The menu had a good selection of items. Overall the food was very nice.
Cons: We only had cold water in our shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food. Very friendly and helpful staff. A beautiful property and beach. So much fun, and exactly what I was looking for in a one-week beach holiday! I particularly enjoyed the backgammon sessions with the owner, and the great conversations with the servers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great beach front spot with pool. Friendly atmosphere, clean and organized well. The full service kitchen was able to prepare some nice meals for dinner and breakfast there was a nice selection to choose from.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Just perfect. Everyone is very friendly, the owner Jan is happy to help with everything, food was great, facilities were in good condition. One of the best hotels I have been in.
Cons: The kitchen and the service were very slow at times.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved staying here. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Beach and pool were amazing. Food 10/10.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: very nice breakfast, not a buffet, individually served with a large choice
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location by the beach. Family friendly, perfect hospitality, quiet and home like.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Grilled fish was not cooked well, but the chef corrected later on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love everything about ZRH. It is located right on the beach with sand so gloriously soft you should forget about your shoes all together. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious: club sandwich, ceviche, Zanzibari soup, grilled tuna with rice and french fries with home-made mayo! Breakfast was amazing with crêpe (pancake) my Breton friend can certainly vouch for. The room was spacious and beautiful with Zanzibari furniture. I felt very relaxed, safe and comfortable here. Big thanks to Jan ans Salomé for being such gracious and hospitable hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food! Some of the best we have ever had!

Pros: We married at the villa Kiva and it was more than perfect. The whole crew is so nice. We will never forget our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff (which was lead by the Italian manager) was fantastic - every single one of them from the cleaning ladies to the bar men. I will definitely be back.
Cons: The WiFi is not the best and definitely needs upgrading apart from that no faults.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect specially the friendly staff , the beach , the pool the location
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quiet place near a very stunning and chilled out beach. The staff were incredibly friendly and competent and all spoke English very well.
Cons: Just a slight niggle but it was quite windy on certain nights. May have just been the time of year though.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were phenomenal
Cons: Room was quite small (twin room n.24) and quite dark.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Great service, clean smashing location. We weren’t leaving until 4pm to the airport and as no one was checking into our room they let us stay until 4!! Get sea view room , worth the extra. Tip: ask for one of the sea view rooms further from the reception as they’ve the best view.
Cons: Nothing!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: 2 pools and great view of the beach. Good to have beach loungers behind a hedge as there are a few people trying to sell things on the main beach and it gets a little tiring. Food was great and room was really nice.
Cons: The village is quiet and not much to do there. This was fine for us as we had just finished a big camping trip and wanted to just chill and read but if you want more bars and restaurant options you might want to pick a different village.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good and friendly staff. Beautiful view from our room ! (We were upgraded to a sea view room). The food especially the hamburger!! We would recommend it to our friends and family.
Cons: You can't go out of the hotel at night, there are no bars or restaurants but that has nothing to do with the hotel. The hotel is great.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything. Can't beat the location.
Cons: Noisy and not efficient AC unit in one of the two rooms. Guests that do not at least try the "outside' world.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: eco friendly - the staff were very friendly - the rooms are nice
Cons: the food could be better, the shower water less salty

9.1 Excellent (430 reviews)

Nestled on the beach, this Kiwengwa hotel is within 1 mi (2 km) of Kiwengwa Pongwe Forest, Mapenzi Beach, and Kiwengwa Beach. Pwani Mchangani Beach and Muyuni Beach are also within 3 mi (5 km).
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Simply nothing
Cons: Not clean. Valeur for money. Location. Very bad beach so that you can't even swim
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where should I start... First of all...we booked our stay over a holiday agency, but booked for our parents from Kenya seperate flights and the hotel with The food was amazing, the chef is absolutely great. The staff were like family. Just to name a few but so great people: Moses at the pool bar does the best drinks, one of the best bartender I´ve ever met. When you want to book a trip, ask for Hassan. He is the best and brings you to the best guides and tours for a reasonable price. Constantine was the best when you want someone take care of your child and their special belongings...she was just great to our daughter! To be honest, I miss that was one of our best. When you consider Zansibar, you have to consider Neptune Pwani...that´s a must!
Cons: some towels need to be exchanged.... and...speed of beach drink delivery needs to be improved but hey...still a great place!
7.5 Good
Cons: İ didn’t like the transport. İt must be including the price. Because i paid 150$. Also we paid one $ for person per day.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The coconut stand
Zanzibar House - Matemwe - Building

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Big room with a nice view.
Cons: There was not hot water when we tried to have a shower.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was perfect. It is not another all incluse resort with dozens of rooms. Here the staff kmows your name. Everyone was very kind and professional. Everything is quiet. The beach is amazing (and yes, you have the low tide effect on this side of the Island). The hotel can arrange all type of excursions. The food is great! In a word, Zanzibar House is just perfect. It is not a fancy and artificial hotel; it is a hotel that cares about you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience of staying at House of Zanzibar was undoubtedly one of the best I've had to date. The room is very spacious, has a huge balcony where you can relax comfortably and overlook the fantastic white sandy beach with the crystal clear water. The meals are delicious and very well prepared. We can taste Italy and Zanzibar flavors mixed in the perfect way. The staff were always very attentive, extremely friendly and always taking care of all our needs (Thank you so much Nicolas and Nina... we already miss your smile and the small talks...) The owners, Massimiliano and Miriam, made us feel special throughout our stay and always paying special attention to food needs (vegetarian and lactose free dishes). This stay was perfect in every way, from the house, the staff, the beachfront location and the friendliness of the local people. Surely we will repeat the experience and stay even longer at House of Zanzibar
Cons: All was perfect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I spent about 10 days in Zanzibar, most of them in the north at Zanzibar House, and I am glad I did. It’s a wonderful place to rest and enjoy the magnificent beach. It is also close to Mnemba island, a good place for snorkeling and diving. The food was amazing. The staff was very caring.
Cons: The only problem was that shower water sometimes had little flux and sometimes had no hot water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Zanzibar House took care of every detail and truly made us feel like home. The house was very special and the owner and the staff were attentive to every need. The four course dinners were fantastic! This was not a typical hotel experience, more like being privates guests in a beautiful home on the beach. We will be back!
Cons: Nothing at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff and service !
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and staffs
Cons: NA
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building and its location was exquisite, we had the whole beach to our yourselves most of the time, the 4 course dinner menu was carefully thought through and executed and the staff team were courteous and efficient. We can't wait to go back!
Cons: There was an issue with the shower on one occasion but this this was quickly resolved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place with great ocean view options. Great big rooms, very helpful stuff. Nice breakfasts. Beatiful place!
Cons: Food as for italian place was a little disapointment for us. Evening with only set up huge diners and not a menu wasnt an option for us. Small swimming pool. But besides those small things it was still 10 for us!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely family run place with great Italian food Really helpful staff and amazing beach - really recommend this place to chill out in for a few days
Cons: The friendly room is comfortably but the difference with the ocean view rooms is quite big, and this isn't reflected in the price difference between the rooms. For an extra $15 a night the ocean view rooms are so much nicer!
Karabai Villa - Matemwe - Building
9.5 Excellent (36 reviews)
C$ 299+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Karabai Villa in Matemwe, you'll be on the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Mapenzi Beach and Muyuni Beach. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nicely maintained villa, manager Ali is really good.
Cons: Though nice location, road connecting to property is too bad
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing, comfortable, nicky decorated isolated villa. Beautiful pool, excellent service by the house manager Ali and the staff. Great breakfast and very good meals cooked for you the way you want. Fantastic air-conditioned rooms with balcony and huge beautiful bathrooms. If you are looking for a place to relax, swim, read a book with a cold beer by your private pool look no more.
Cons: The villa is 30 min drive for the village. It sits on isolated clif over the sea. If you are looking for a place to relax, swim in the pool, enjoy the sunset and the present of your companions there couldn't be a better place in Zanzibar. Take into account you will need 30 drive to get anywhere. So if you arrive during the day stop on the market on the way and buy some snacks, fruits and drinks. Ali, the house manager can take you anywhere but take into account it takes time and not free.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything- it is like a fairytale
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything in this place was amazing. The people were beyond amazing. The place is gorgeous with nice balconies, we couldn't have asked for more.
Cons: The road to the place is really rough. It takes about 20-30 minutes of terrible road to get to the place/paradise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private and secluded, Ali (house manager) excellent host, chef and staff great. Amazing view of Indian ocean from house and pool, great snorkelling just 20 minute boatride away at Mnemba island.
Cons: The local road from the main road the last km:s is really terrible :-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Private pool.
Cons: Access road is very rough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private, spacious, clean, comfortable, amazing views, amazing hosts
Cons: The road to get there is very rough
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was a truly unique experience - the villa is lovely and the people there too. We had beautiful dinners with our cook Ahmed, Ali the house manager always looked after us and Upendo kept the house tidy and beautiful. You have your own little paradise and people who enjoy their me time - that’s perfect as you will be on your own. Having your own pool and access to the beach where you can stroll around is truly meditativ Can only recommend you will not regret it!
Cons: If you want to go swimming in the sea, the location is not ideal because there are sea urchins a little further out and the water is covered with seaweed. But when the sea has gone back you can go for a walk which was very nice and you could also watch the crabs between the rocks. Don't forget your shoes because you "climb" over stones. You're really isolated there. You can book a taxi to take you somewhere on the island, but if you want to buy for example food spontaneously it is actually not possible. Therefore I recommend if you go to Stone Town or somewhere else stock up with some things if you feel the need to. But the food in the villa ist really good so you don't have to. Maybe just for some sweets?!
Sunshine Hotel Zanzibar - Matemwe - Bedroom
8.7 Excellent (273 reviews)
C$ 175+
Overview Reviews
Located in Matemwe, Sunshine Hotel Zanzibar is a 1-minute drive from Muyuni Beach and 11 minutes from Mapenzi Beach. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The food as well. Personnel very kind and attentive to your needs. Bicycle for free at disposition
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing views from the swimming pool. The atmosphere and the eco-concept of the hotel was great. The staff was very nice and helpful.
Cons: They did not have many choices in the restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room with ocean view was such amazing. It comes with a balcony which make the stay even more pleasant. Decoration is nice and enhances the pleasure for staying at Sunshine. Restaurant as well as the swimming pool both located by the beach are nice to relax.
Cons: Nothing except the hotel pricing for Taxi transfers : 50$ airport to Hotel & especially a 90$ hôtel to Jambiani ! You can easily divide by 2 when asking locals directly. I would recommend to grab a taxi upon arrival that you can negotiate at 40$ and keep the phone number for further transfers.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Located on a beautiful beach with lovely swimming pools and friendly staff, and also good value for money compared to other places in Matemwe. The food they offer in the restaurant is excellent. Turn down service is a nice extra!
Cons: Our room (double room with garden view) was a bit small and didn't seem to be as nice as all the other bungalows, so I would advice a different kind of room. When we stayed there, there were also lot's of people putting their towels on the few available beds while they were away for hours, which I didn't like. Also the excursions and taxi service they offer are overpriced, you can find those cheaper elsewhere.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff is super friendly and funny, especially at the restaurant. Pool area is very nice and the rooms are fantastic. Very big and comfy bed and big balconies. The restaurant is good and the breakfast more then enough (you can choose eggs, fruits, pancakes, etc)
Cons: The restaurant is very nice but a bit expensive and the portions are quite small. Also there was no music until we asked them to play some. It was super silent before but with a bit of background music it was OK. The beach is beautiful but unfortunately full of seaweed (not the hotels fault but they should at least try to keep it clean)
6.7 Good
Pros: Good food, great pizza, beautiful beach, good location, lovely resident cats, cute resto
Cons: Room was just “ok”. Very much a boutique hotel. Difficult communication with front desk manager at times
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were very friendly and room was good
Cons: No toiletries such as dental kits, no bedroom slippers, when we wanted a massage there was no masseuse, nobody could tell us details for water activities, the beach was full of sea urchins and sellers, the pool was small. For the price we expected so much more than what we received.
6.3 Good
Pros: The room is well decorated and true to its pictures. The food was good compared to other resorts in Tanzania and beautiful white sand beach. Admin/reception was accommodating when we complained about banging noise from the tree near our terrace, But only answered our requests after repeated complaints.
Cons: Highly overpriced for what the resort offers you, being an "eco friendly" resort the walls were open whihh lead to barely any sound isolation between us and our neighbors. And the swimming pool is fairly small. One mishap happened when settling our bill, where the prices for some reason increased and charged us with items we didn't order. WiFi was down most of our stay. " government Tax" per person per night was charged for our stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was really nice and spacious. Bed comes with mosquito net. They cleaned beach in front every from the sea grass. Staff was super nice and you can see they are trying to maintain Western expectations. Since we checked out at 10 am and our flight was only in the evening, we stayed around hotel with no problem and they also offered us to take a shower before the flight.
Cons: We would only suggest to lower prices for SPA. I'm sure that more people would use it in that case. 50$/60$ for 1 hour is a bit too much for Zanzibar. Same for the trips organized with hotel. From outside sellers you pay less than double. Also, we were having lunch and dinner mostly in other restaurants as it seemed they had better prices, choice and quality.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, room and facilities. Infinity pool view was amazing. Also recommend Elizabeth at the spa. And free bikes to use along the beach! Make sure to go to beach about 20 mins before sunrise, it was stunning!
Cons: There were only three options for main meal in evening, one fish, one meat and one veg. As a vegetarian I would have liked a bit more choice of dishes

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really love the hotel, i spend to wonderful days and definitely coming back soon, amazing location, amazing place if u wanna relax and enjoy. Such a lovely and friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: EVERYTHING. I can honestly say that this has been the best hotel stay in my LIFE. Far surpassed my expectations, to a point that I didnt want to leave. I mean, the manager greets you as you arrive at the resort. Top notch service!!!
Cons: I loved the fact that I didnt like the fact that this resort forced one to relax. WiFi only available in the reception area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service. Management was awesome. Highly recommended!
Cons: Road to hotel was a bit difficult
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Large spacious room with veranda n private pool. Very helpful and respectful staff. Beautiful infinity pool and breakfast overlooking the ocean. Very comfy pillows and bedding. Manicured grounds.
Cons: The drains in our room had a smell but management tried sorted it out . Breakfast was great and tasty but the same every day. The beach is not really for swimming. But you can walk amongst sea urchins n rocks. The hotel has shoes for guests to walk in the water.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great food
4.6 Okay
Pros: This place is surely a great place for a young couple and not for a family. The view from our suite was breathtaking. One feels like they are staying in a big garden with amazing greenery around. It is not far from Kendwa and its lovely beach.
Cons: The hotel is old and it shows. It requires ALOT of maintenance vis a vis the suites. Our room needed serious cleaning to say the least. The food wasnt so great and surely not suitable for young kids. The location is very remote and we had to drive through the villages for about 20 minutes in a really rough terrain to reach. The hotel doesn't have direct access to the beach. We visited in June and it was way too windy to enjoy the pool. The hotel changes the food menu everyday and provides a set menu at a specific time which makes it very hard for a family with young kids. Mind you the food is on the pricey side and you can get better selection and quality at any other place around that area. Given its remote location we would have liked for the hotel to provide some sort of entertainment, but unfortunately nothing. Not even a little music in the public places. All in all, we dont think we will ever visit this place again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great relaxing and exclusive place with a limited number of guests. Everything is beautiful : gardens, swimming pools, private lodges, main areas. We had a great 2 days enjoying life on a luxury side I would really recommand it for a couple who wants to spend to intimate days
Cons: Hotel is lost in the nature, so, not a lot to do outside nearby (but you don’t go there for this). Lack of Wifi spot - only in the major lobby
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Quiet hotel and nice for relaxing
Cons: Location is far from other places
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property is very beautiful. It is isolated and so very quiet.
Cons: The property is very isolated, which can be good or bad. What we were looking for was a serene, relaxed environment, and Kasha is that. However, it is also kind of an Island unto itself with little in the immediate area for diversion. Take that for what you will.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and prompt in their service and the location was magical.
Cons: Road to the property
Next Paradise Boutique Resort - Pwani Mchangani - Bedroom
9.0 Excellent (40 reviews)
C$ 296+
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Next Paradise Boutique Resort in Pwani Mchangani, you'll be on the beach, a 1-minute drive from Mapenzi Beach and 7 minutes from Kiwengwa Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. For a surcharge, guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle (available 24 hours) and a ferry terminal shuttle.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, beautiful grounds. Great pool area. Very nice room. Very attentive staff and management.
Cons: We were there five nights and there was hardly any variety on the breakfast buffet. Disappointing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful long white sand beach. The very high tidal swings make it possible to walk ~1km out to reef at low tide. You will see so many different sea creatures — star fish of all colors, fish caught in tidal pools, and more. Be careful of the sea urchins. Highly recommend you bring water shoes as they are a must have. Great onsite restaurant with all day made to order menu. Evening offers a 4 course meal that is determined daily by what is fresh. Very comfortable and very quiet air conditioned rooms. Wonderful friendly staff.
Cons: Although the hotel is not at fault, do be aware there are an abundance of sea urchins all along the Zanzibar coast. Families with small children need to be cautious as you explore the beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The peaceful and tranquil setting to the most amazingly attentive staff, I could not fault this hotel. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting and needing a complete recharge of their batteries. 7 days was not enough, another 3 at least would have been perfect.
Cons: I loved everything about this stunning boutique hotel
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff and service , rooms are very clean, beautiful ocean view. On the last night our flight was at 21:00 and they gave us a nice room to stay ,take shower and rest until the ride to the airport despite the check out which was at 12:00
Cons: a bit far from main attractions we had to take a taxi but worth the $$$$$$
7.5 Good
Pros: The property is clean, well organized and the receptionist is simply amazing in booking for our pick ups, trips and adventures, she was attentive and very helpful. The rooms are smaller than what they seem in the pictures. The staff in the restaurant were great always cheerful.
Cons: The chef on the other hand is the female version of Chef Gordon Ramsay, every evening she goes Berserk in the Kitchen!, and that was reflected in the quality of food being served to the guests, as well as the waiters. The beach is beautiful but there are some steel anchors in the sand so be careful when you go swimming. The toilet lacks towels, the first day we had towels in the basket, the second day we had one towel and in the third day we had non!. Is it worthy to stay in this hotel? yes, is it worthy to try eating in the restaurant for dinner?, I would say no, but if you have no options available go ahead, but I won't guarantee you not having a foul mood!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent vacation great hotel and location friendly staff
4.2 Okay
Pros: the resort is quiet and has direct access on the beach.
Cons: the resort is soulless and the beach is not the best we've experienced in zanzibar, food is so expensive we didn't even try it. the facilities didn't meet our expectations, compared to the booking rating and the pictures we had seen. the room is clean but very standard, no charm, not much intimacy. the staff looks sad or angry, did not make us feel at home, the manager was helpful though. pool is a bit old fashioned and the resort feels empty and sad. propabaly it would suit better older people looking for very quiet all included resort
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything, from the checkin to the checkout... If I go back to Zanzibar, this will be first option to look for accomodation.
Cons: I really missed Stoney Tangawizi in the bar :) also small shower for the feet will be better than just actual one.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay in Sunshine Marine Lodge. The hotel is so amazing and charming with typical African style and beautiful well-cared garden. We felt really comfortable in the rooms that are exactly like the photos when we booked. The emplacement of the hotel was perfect for us, out of busy tourism, in a quiet place in Matemnwe coast, and the views were spectacular on the beach and Menmba island. We really enjoyed low tide each morning, and our child also (5years) had a lot of fun, walking in the sand. We highly recommend this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room is fantastic Good menu choice Great staff Views
Cons: Price of a beer $3 a bit much when it costs less than a dollar .
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are beautifully decorated and have lovely sunbeds in the balcony to relax. The facilities are super comfy, very good breakfast and nice sofas to chill out. Private beach is gorgeous, you have to walk to (with shoes they provide), go by boat or car 10 mins (included in the stay), it is just opposite Mnemba. Free yoga classes 3 days a week to make the stay even better.
Cons: All was fantastic. Maybe the pool was a bit colder, but nothing bothered us. If you’re looking for action nearby the hotel, then it is not right hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are phenomenal. Staff, specially at restaurant are super nice and helpful. Beach is the most beautiful we have seen in the east coast of Zanzibar. It is a place to relax. Free yoga classes thrice a week is a plus. The lobster at the restaurant was delicious!
Cons: We could have used some help with our luggage from the room to reception at check out
9.6 Excellent
Pros: -The dive club is in the resort and fantastic good dive guides and instructors. -The restaurant has excellent food and drinks. -The view is magnificant. -The room is very comfortable. - it is very quiet. - there are free yoga lessons.
Cons: -The road to the resort is terrible. -The beach is not at the resort, but its 10min walk if the water is low or by boat or by car. -No tv.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We stayed at this hotel and had food poisoning. My girlfriend ate a cake with cream and fruits and it was tasting weird and next morning she became very very sick. When we went to reception and said what happened they offered expired medicine (it was expired one year ago!!!). The manager called a doctor over the phone who didn’t sound professional and they wanted to charge us 50 US dollars just for the doctor to come. The manager kept denying that they are responsible for any food poisoning and refused any cooperation. He admitted that they offered expired medication with the excuse of “we don’t use the first aid kit often” it is obviously very “professional”!!. And the same person trying to convince me that the food they give is not “expired”???? If my girlfriend accepts the medication her health could have been put in serious danger!!! We went to hospital where the doctor confirmed that she has food poisoning. We told the hotel manager who said “ the doctor probably wrong she doesn’t have food poisoning “ who is this hotel manager to question a doctor’s diagnosis??? And he refused to help with the medical costs. We asked the hospital if there were other people with same food poisoning and they confirmed yes they had more patients coming the same day with same problem. We also asked the hotel for an itemized bill and they put a coke instead of the dessert cake on the bill (we have a proofs). It’s also suspicious. The manager of the hotel is too arrogant and very disrespectful. Just avoid this place if you don’t want to put your life in risk!!! there are many others nicer places in Zanzibar with better management.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had an amazing stay in sunshine marine lodge. The staff they have hired are one of the best I have come across in my life! Especially a waiter called Nicolas that became my good friend now. The chef khalid is also an amazing guy and has amazing creative food! The beach in very nice, highly recommend.
Cons: The drive to sunshine marine is a bit bumpy.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: Our stay was a disappointment. During the first night monkeys were coming in and out of our room, leaving us wordless. Instead of sleeping we had to lead the monkeys out again and again, hoping they won’t touch our children. The management tried to compensate us but on the fourth night we had one more time monkeys visit in our room. On top of it, the crew wasn’t attentive, what doubled our frustration, a total contrast to other places we stayed at. Breakfast was as minor as can be, we had the feeling as if everything was counted. Something in the atmosphere lacks in this lodge and it’s transferred to the guests. Yes, it’s a nice spot and the pool is situated nicely. But All the rest was way below the expected standards, not to mention having monkeys in the room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Dive club, pool and sea views.
Cons: Wifi was not working
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was nicely furnished, the employees were very friendly and the dinner was always delicious. From the Pool you have an amazing view of Mnemba Island. The Mnemba Atoll is a great place for diving. The stuff of the diving center were very professional and friendly. I can highly recommend Sunshine Marine Lodge.

Pros: Hotel is good and quite. Food is very good , staff is very good . Clean rooms . I suggest.
Cons: The hotel is very hard to find . I suggest the property to put a remark on the road , we came at night time and it took us 1 hour to find the hotel when we were like 100 meters away . Location is so so and people on the beach are harassing tourists with their tours and activities.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The beach bungalow was very spacious and had a nice vibe, the beach lounge was great. The staff organised entertainment through out the day including fitness activities like yoga and acrobatic show in the evening. Nice vibe. Staff speak multiple languages and it’s primarily a European resort. Dinner buffet was delicious with salad, pasta, baked fish and dessert.
Cons: The location was a little stranded and there weren’t enough tours going during my stay. Would have like to do more but the taxis were expensive to go anywhere. Breakfast was good but the same everyday. Desserts could be better.
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Waridi was amazing and we really enjoyed our time there. The staff was amazing and all of them were extremely friendly, professional and always helping and giving extra. We were really impressed. Every night there is an entertainment for the guest for the hotel, which is really nice, considering you can't go out every evening and pay money for taxi. The beach is amazing. Food really good. I would love to go there again.
Cons: We stayed at the main building of the resort. Rooms are a little bit old and need renovation. It was hard to take shower. Almost no pressure for the water and it was a nightmare.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The team's attentiveness to our needs was awesome, they treated us like kings and queens! Antonella, the tour operator was also very prompt and thoughtful of our needs, especially that we had an early flight for departure, we were sent extra food for the road! the facilities were the basics however you can still feel that they are pleased to have us as guests!

Pros: Best thing about this place was the staff. They really made a difference. So kind and welcoming. Loved all the activities they organize for us.
Cons: The wi fi connection was quite slow.

Cons: The safe in the room didn’t work so couldn’t store valuables anywhere

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything,lovely place and quite
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, clean comfy bungalows, friendly helpful staff, tour company onsite that can organize excursions (we did snorkeling, it was great). Apparently best restaurant in the area.
Cons: Air conditioning is half dead, but it seems to be a common problem on Zanzibar..
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, bungalows very nice, good simple breakfats, friendly staff and in end of June it was not a lot of tourists and (still) very peaceful. Pizza was very good and check/join some of the buffets offered. AND use the opportunity to take a kite-course run by a very nice and very professional Czech couple - moc děkuji!!
Cons: Mattress in our bungalow was over the hill and "ensured" early breakfasts ... and should be removed/replaced with a new one.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Rooms were very basic and tired, nowhere comfortable to sit and work in the room. The whole complex needed a refresh. Staff and service were great. Breakfast, I've had better for the price. Restaurant......hmmm a little disappointing and not value for money.
Cons: Rooms were too small and cramped with no comfortable seating. Breakfast was ordinary. They charge an extra $10 for eggs, c'mon man. I am glad we found the restaurant at Next Paradise 100m away, fantastic food at the same price. I just got the impression they were fixated with milking every $ from each client.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: The room is very dark, that made reading almost impossible. No drinking water was provided in the room, and no kettle to boil water. Have to buy the drinking water and the hotel was selling a 1.5 litre bottled water for 7000 tanzanian syiling (USD3). The same was sold at 3500 syiling in mainland. The internet was very slow, and only available at one restaurant at the beach. The breakfast choice was very limited. Choose only one hot food from their menu, and the rest are just few types of cookies/danish pastries/bread. Did not even provide butter.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was lovely and the beach was beautiful. The excursion staff were really helpful in sorting everything out. The staff were really friendly, and I thought it was a nice touch that cleaning staff come and give the room a quick spray before sunset (when the mosquitoes come out).
Cons: I think 3 USD for a bottle of water is very high, as is 6% extra for paying by card.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such wonderful, helpful and friendly staff. They really helped make our stay so fantastic. You can't beat the beach front location either. The restaurants had a great selection of food and were also very adaptable for us as my friend is Vegan. We walked along the beach and this was definitely our favourite resort for this area. Would highly recommend.
Cons: Everything was brilliant but the only thing is comment on would be the cost of water but to be honest you could pop to a shop to buy more if needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location at the beach. Friendly personal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: first line in front of the beach hotel offers plenty of activities rooms are comfortable and well kept hygiene is very good great place to go with small children
Cons: food a bit overpriced for what it is, but it remains within the acceptable
7.9 Good
Pros: The rooms were cozy and cleaned daily. The A/C was adequate. Contrary to some reviews I've read, insects in the room were not an issue at all. Also, the restaurants was excellent - particularly the pizza!
Cons: Wifi. It cut out after the second day and never returned. Also, a pool would make the property that much better.
